One of the central tenants of the new edition is the facilitation of the DM's own creativity, allowing tools for the DM to create his own world. In the case of the gods, they needed default deities for the purpose of depiction in core products and artwork, but surely - each campaign world needs its own homebrew, house rules deities. I present one.
Most gods appeal to ideas more than races, even humans may worship Moradin, and dwarves revere Bahamut. But while most gods broaden their appeal towards many races, there is one deity that both embraces and rejects this universalism at the same time.
Eons ago, when the world was new, there was one god who was more cunning than all the rest at the forging of sentient races. His mortals were more powerful, intelligent, prolific than the others, and he exhorted them to slaughter each other to prove who among his creations was the mightiest. This they did - and moved on to the other races of the fledgling world.
The other gods could not abide this god, or his creations - intelligent engines of death, their very presence was a threat to more mundane humanoids. The deities struck back to prevent these creatures, known only in legend as 'Firstlings' from butchering elves and humans alike. All Firstlings living in the Middle World were slain by the combined might of several deities, and their creator was dismembered in a heavenly battle, his hand severed, his face disfigured, his domain shattered. Slaying a deity is a complex matter, but this one - only Vecna knows his true name - this Faceless One was stripped of his true powers and cast from the heavens. His Divine Spark is dampened, and he can no longer create new races as was his passion.
Fallen to the mortal world, he now exacts his philosophy among the lesser races he was not permitted to destroy. He appears as one of their number, extolling their virtues and superiority, guiding them towards hatred and mistrust of all other races, and encouraging the slaughter of near neighbors.
To Elves, he praises their grace and long life, denounces humans as barbaric animals, and manipulates those that heed him towards a war of extermination. To humans, he praises their adaptability and vigor - and suggests that the elves are holding them back - and must be exterminated.
Wherever more than one race coexists in peace, The Faceless One will attempt to set them against the other. To settlements of mostly women, he will exhort them to become man-murdering amazons and hate the opposite sex. And within a race, he may find targets as well; inciting murderous revolt of the rich against the poor, the young against the old. All hatred of the Other, every act of racial violence is his worship. And through it all, he grows yet stronger.

DC 20 Religion
The Faceless One does not exist in any known domain of the Astral Sea, but for centuries, savage humanoids have gone to war in the name of this god-who-is-not-a-god.

DC 30 Religion
The Faceless One pits races against each other, masquerading as one of the population, and enticing them to warfare and racial violence, so that one race may prove itself and dominate all the Middle World. From this violent purging, he derives worship.

DC 35 Religion
Vecna knows the True Name of the Faceless One, and also knows the location of secret, extra-planar vaults that contain sleeping survivors of the Firstling race, who could be awakened with ease....

Thanks for sharing the "The Faceless One" Kngdavid01, I love the background, what domains would you give him if he were a 3.5ed god?

Well thank you, he's not meant to be 3.5, but if he were, his domains would probably be Illusion and Destruction, something like that.

The Faceless One:
Genocide, Xenophobia, Illusion

Your race is superior to all others; it is your right to rule the Middle World.
[/i][/b]

Have no pity when you slaughter the Other, for the World must be purged of all races but your own, that is the only way you will realize your destiny.

Hate that which is different, and resist those that would stop the killing.

Nicely done, sir. On my homebrew I have 19 homemade gods, so I share the thril of creation here.
