I play 3.5 with a bunch of guys and I enjoy playing a mounted character and because fighter is so broad and I don't want to be a pally I've been considering making a class to specialise in mounted combat or whatever. I have most of it done I'm just stuck on what kind of special abilities I should give the class without over powering it

..... any suggestions?

Do you expect to dungeon delve?

What happens if the horsie is killed?

Cavalier prestige class.

Just go knight, fighter or pally.

you can always go druid or ranger and get your animal companion to be your mount making him more powerfull as you level....I use to do that all the time....

mabye take 1 level of fighter then one level of druid then take the feat that allows you to treat your self as a druid 4 levels higher (MAX of your LEVEL!!!!) and its like your leveling as a fighter with a COOL mount bonus, and your can always trade it up for a more exotic mount...

OHHH that reminds me of a mounted druid I use to play, its kinda a long story.

lets just say he went straight druid... got the spell "awaken" and used it on a redwood... I loved being at the top of a 100 foot tree moving at a blazing speed of 6 squares or 30 feet (I know that's slow) but nothing caught us off guard with me as a look out. Lets just say the DM got ticked at the fact that I found that use for that spell and well he said the Tree was suicidal and threw itself on the camp fire killing me with it and said that I can no longer play druids...X<
