While they may be more than 5 feet long, they are certainly not more than 5 feet wide. This becomes very apparent when two horses are pulling a wagon--and taking up 20 feet of space.![]() Apparently that's 20 feet tall. Two horse next to each other, pulling a wagon, are not as wide as that bouncy-slide thingy is tall. Anyways, I like the idea of a new size class, although I don't really have a name. Perhaps large-narrow. Anyways, a horse should really only take up a 10x5 foot space, at most, and this would let two of them fit nicely in front of a wagon. This bring up another thing, which is that a human-sized figure wouldn't take up anywhere near 5x5 feet of room when sitting on a wagon. The size of a creature is variable, and a 5x5 foot square, as mentioned in one of the books (I can't remember which) is the amount of space needed to fight effectively. Out of combat, though, this number is inaccurate. In most situations, it doesn't really matter, but I think that for something like pulling a wagon, two horses should be able to fit in front of a 10-foot wide wagon, and while it looks a big odd, using a 2x1 inch shred of paper is what I prefer for representing horses (and using a shred of paper is necessary when you need to have something mounting said horse, unless you have a knack for balancing things). |

The size things in DnD are usually pretty weird. 10ft Pole or 10ft Ladder? I'll take the ladder then rip it into a pair of poles and sell it back as poles for twice what I spent on it. Use whatever convention you need to for the wagon. But a Horse would need a 2x2 space to FIGHT. Otherwise it would have trouble maneuvering. |

When out of combat, sizes change, however, the Adventurer's Vault still says that a wagon requires two large creatures to pull it, or one huge one--I think that one actually 10x10 creature, like a dragon, or two 10x5 large and narrow creatures, like horses, could pull a wagon, easily. |
