In my game, I made this new set of House Rules for multiclassing. It's sorta rough, but I wanted to see what people here think of it:

-You multiclass through multiclass feats(this one's sorta obvious)

-You may multiclass into a number of classes equal to the ability modifier for a certain ability depending on your source (pick the one of the two scores that fits your class more):

Arcane: Int or Cha

Psionic: Int or Con

Divine and Primal- Wis or Str

Martial- Str or Dex

- Once (or maybe twice) per tier, when you may choose a new power, you may choose one power of the same level from a class that you've multiclassed into.

-If you gain a multiclass feat at 1st level, you may choose one of your at-wills from that class.

What do you think?

This will cut into the bard's power a little bit. Perhaps give them a free multiclass feat. The at-will of another class is too powerful, leave that for paragon multiclassing. Speaking of paragon multiclassing, you should make some rules for it as well.

It doesn't seem to be designed to work well the bard class or with paragon and epic options that build off the multiclassing rules. It also steps on the half-elf racial power and is likely to be even more problematic with the new half-elf feats in the PH2.

The multiple multiclass based on atribute modifiers feels awkward to me. It's a complicated mechanic and I'm not sure what advantage it gives. Also since a character of the given classes will generally have a high score in the attributes under consideration, it's not really a limitation.

Given the limited array of powers a character has access to, there's a very marginal advantage of being able to select powers from multiple classes (and what advantage there is is a class feature of the bard class). If you really want to take powers from 3-4 different classes, you can using the existing rules by epic tier (when it really becomes relevant) so I'm not sure if I see the reason to alter that part of the multiclassing rules.

There's also the concern that the core multiclass feats are fairly strong compared to other heroic tier feats. Restricted to one only, the imbalance is trivial - but the imbalance increases with each additional multiclass feat allowed.

I'm in agreement with doneisi that the at-will of another class is inappropriate for heroic tier. It really should be reserved for the paragon tier and should require a significant investment in a second class. Aside from power concerns, at-will powers are key elements of a class's flavor and shouldn't be available to someone who only chooses to 'dabble' in a second class.

multiclass feats are stronger then normal feats (why take skill training perception, if you can take multiclass ranger?)

I don't really see a reason - other then powerplay - to have fighter/barbarian/warlocks/...

- Once (or maybe twice) per tier, when you may choose a new power, you may choose one power of the same level from a class that you've multiclassed into.

basicaly free powerswap feats (1/tier)? maybe make this one extra feat (one feat giving a powerswap per tire, instead of a feat giving one single power swap)
(one initiate feat, one 'master' feat)

-If you gain a multiclass feat at 1st level, you may choose one of your at-wills from that class.

this is not good IMO. I'dd give any mutliclasser acces to this feature.

so in short, my suggestions
- still only one multiclass feat, but it automatically swap an at-will power.
- one extra feat that allows you to choose one power from both lists per tier
- a third feat that allows you to any power from both lists

Actually, after careful re-thinking, I have come up with a simple way to give my players (who originally just wanted more multiclassing) what they want: Instead of being able to only have one multiclass feat, they may have two instead. Does this sound fair?

, OK, but for the second feat I woudn't give the skill attached to the MC feat, since MC feats are much more better then normal feats

Yeah, I'd probably do that.
