| #1xeno426Aug 24, 2008 13:38:58 | Some friends and I are starting a new campaign in FR with the change that there is now more trade with Kara-Tur (so classes and races of OA are open and allowed). However, there are a few changes we thinking of making and I'd like people's opinions on their balance. First off, we never play with the favored class rules or multiclassing penalties. When we break a class (by accident or by design), it has never been with small level dips on other base classes. However, the favored class is a benefit of the human and half-elf (granted, a small one), so we felt that those races should get something in return for loosing a racial feature. We were thinking of allowing a player to choose three skills and have them always considered class skill. The next couple of changes regard the Sohei class of OA. We felt that the distribution of the Ki Frenzy should be separated into two parts. We moved the reduction of the Flurry penalty (-2 to -1) to 6th level, and the second reduction (from -1 to 0) to 14th level. With the Spell Compendium and several other books (mainly the PHB2), classes with limited spell lists like Ranger, Paladin and Bard all got new spells on their list. To help balance it out, I picked out some spells to add to their spell list. I tried to keep the flavor of the spells already present, so I submit this list for your approval. Spells with the asterisk (*) are found in the OA book. Spells with the (^)--I don't know what it's called--are ones I've added to the spell list. |

The older edition forums are located here http://forums.gleemax.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8 Good luck. |

I would cut off the spell list section and put that on the Spells and I think you can get away gluing the Half-Elf onto the rest in the class section. In regards to the half-elf I always just gave them some boosts for diplomacy and forest movement. Something like they move freely through difficult terrain in wooded environments and grant a +1 to diplomacy for everyone in the party... drop the sleep immunity and put in a proficiency with bows or longswords. I always considered them to be unfinished and whenever someone played one I would work out where they were going and give them some applicable abilities. |
