I would like some feedback on what my dm has decided to do with the greatbow and superior crossbow.

He made the greatbow have a req of 14str to weild and with the superior crossbow he completely took it out of the game.

All feedback is appreciated

I don't agree with the ruling because you have to take a feat to wield either of those weapons so imposing strength check is a little ridiculous but your DM might be trying to go for a more realistic approach to the game.

Your DM is trying to add simulationist rules to 4e D&D. The simulationist aspect rules are not particularly logical (no reason to remove the superior crossbow, and no reason why a stat so far above the average should be required to use a greatbow). Its against the spirit of the edition. It really throws a wrench in the games balance system. I don't like them.
