I really don't like how 4e handles clerical powers -- apart from an ability unlocked by a feat, there is insufficient difference IMO between a cleric of Bane and a cleric of Pelor. I am really missing the old Domain powers here.

My thought here is to allow the player to petition the DM for a particular "domain" spell or two. Chances are, they can be lifted from other classes.

In a similar vein, I can see some clerics having access to "nature" rituals.

I think the 4e clerics are too tied to WotC's IP/fluff. Instead of tying cleric abilities to specific deities within WotC's pantheon, there should have been domain based powers/feats which would work with whatever pantheon the GM decided to use.

A lot of the fluff seems like WotC is trying to shoe-horn us into their world rather than just giving us the tools to build our own.

As for Nature Rituals... that will be for my druids. ;)
