For example, Hybrid Rogues can only do Sneak Attacks on Rogue attack powers, Fighters can only mark on Fighter attack powers, etc. This leaves basic attacks out in the cold. It makes sense that a Hybrid Fighter|Barbarian shouldn't be able to mark on a Ranger power, for example, as that would allow them full access to their Defendery goodness while dealing Striker damage. A hybrid Fighter being unable to mark with melee basic attacks (from OAs, charges, attacks granted by items or other powers, etc) just seems wrong. But then again, allowing these features to work with basic attacks would allow things like Sneak Attack+Hunter's Quarry on a single attack, and other undesirable situation. Has anyone implemented house-rules with respect to this? I'm considering implementing a rule that allows hybrid characters to use these features on basic attacks, but only one feature may be used per attack. |

I can't for the life of me remember even 1 ... for some reason I'm thinking technique feats (like from "We Who Are About To Die ...") that alter an at-will power ... anyway, I'd think that your quandry can be solved the same way. When you make a basic attack, decide if you're making it as a fighter or a ranger. That way you can either mark or do quarry damage, but not both. |
