| #1kainhighwindMar 25, 2009 4:08:20 | So, I have no way to approach this, but my group wants to be Power Rangers, both in 4e, and d20 Modern. I gots no idea how to even start about this, so could my group and I get some help? What we have so far for d20 Modern: -Must possess morpher to morph - being morphed grants +10 to STR (DM was the one who suggested it, citing the fact that "You guys are Power Rangers, you guys are all about fighting and that's about it") - in d20 modern it is a base class, that is essentially a heavily modified Strong Hero. I'll ask my friend for what we have so far later, but we are making it up as we go along, and I'd like to tips to try adn keep it as balanced as possible) - upon reaching lvl 10, you may summon your zord once a week (The Power Rangers only came on once a week!) - NEW SKILL: Use Morpher: this skill allows you to morph in the middle of combat uninterrupted if you pass a successful check(haven't come to details abotu the exact formula for the DC) You must also make a DC 15 check to use a morpher not of your station (In d20 Modern, the Power Rangers are essentially peacekeepers assigned to a squad. My character is the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger, while my friend is the SPD Shadow Ranger, thus I was have to make the check to use his morpher and vice versa) What we posses for 4e: - ....jack any ideas, oh great gurus of homebrew? |

| #3gregt_314Mar 26, 2009 22:40:30 | I guess nobody likes Power Rangers.. Quoted for truth. Although didn't they release a Power Rangers RPG? Or at least a "totally-not-Power-Rangers-so-we-don't-get-sued" expansion for Big Eyes Small Mouth? |

| #8jlaurhughes_dupMar 29, 2009 20:36:19 | I have only one question: WHY? |
| #9pigknightMar 29, 2009 20:37:18 | WHY GOD WHY?! - Part IV |
| #10Alter_BoyMar 29, 2009 20:51:16 | First, thank god this thread isn't about something kinky. Second, exchange weapons with "combat moves." When you hit with a fist, you're using the longsword proficiency and [W]. When you get a +2 Longsword, you've instead learned a better way to land a karate chop. Two-handed weapons are karate moves that require both hands. Third, when you're in Megazord form, create a Gargantuan epic level Warforged Fighter and fight it against epic-level creatures. |
| #11kainhighwindMar 29, 2009 21:29:37 | Thanks, I'm glad glad someone gave a contribution (and a darn good one to boot!) and as for why?: Because the Power Rangers are awesome and we're big enough nerds to memorize the poses and play the appropriate theme songs |
| #12jagggarApr 01, 2009 11:50:04 | +10 STR when morphed sounds kinda "meh." Power Ranger as a base class sounds "meh" and kind of "ick." Give each character two sheets. One for their normal teenage self which is just a normal character. One sheet is morphed and has +X levels of Martial Artist piled onto their normal character. (+X instead of +10 so there's room to improve their Ranger powers over time.) Another approach to two character sheet method would be to create a 20 level Power Ranger class and gestalt it with their d20 Modern levels, Ranger powers only accessible when morphed, of course. Hn.. for 4e.... ... .... at-wills only unless morphed? (Hey, didn't say I'd have good ideas.) While part of me likes Alter Boy's weapon=style suggestion, aren't there rangers who pull out weapons from time to time? It's been forever since I've seen anything, so maybe those weapons could just be tossed onto appropriate powers as fluff. |
