| #1SnoozeJun 23, 2008 18:03:07 | I ran two groups through the first half of this module over the weekend, and both groups seemed to have a good time. I had a great idea for an interesting encounter, but unfortunately I thought of it halfway through yesterday's session and didn't have a chance to use it. So, I figure I'll post it here and see if anyone else wants to try it. For both groups, I added the extra "wagon" encounter that I grabbed from the web site. I actually just kept the setting, because it didn't seem right for it to be right outside of town (where were the guards?). I basically just put the ransacked wagons in the road, and had the kobolds jump out from inside/underneath the wagons. I threw this encounter in as they were heading to the burial ground, instead of the A1 ambush. I did the A1 ambush on the way back. However, I realized that instead of the A1 ambush, what I should have done was use the same wagon setting on the way back, and made a new undead encounter there. Maybe a priest of Orcus showed up and animated the previous wagon owners, maybe even animated the kobolds themselves. Or, maybe some hungry ghouls showed up to chew on the corpses left over. This would have been more fun than the A1 ambush, and it would make sense with the Orcus guys nearby in the keep. It would also have given the clerics/paladins some undead to destroy, rather than just throwing more kobolds at them. |
