| #1vonklaudeAug 30, 2008 14:19:23 | I've been working on a shapeshifter class, partly posted, and I see others have too. The difficulty one hits is that one ends up with powers that read 'do 6 different useful things' instead of 'do 1 useful thing'. Any ideas on this? -vk |

| #6vonklaudeAug 31, 2008 5:11:10 | Make shapeshifting similar to stances? I drafted rules up to Lvl10 for treating shapeshifting as stances, but I believe the problem still remains. My present thinking diverges from ffshadow in that I believe it is better to shift wholly into the creature, instead of adding a collection of properties from the creature to your existing shape. That means you let go of advantages you might have in your usual shape for advantages in your new shape, but power-for-power I'm still seeing more utility in shapeshifting than there should be. Of course, one can nerf them in a variety of ways, and one of those is through their non-shifting powers. Yet I believe the way non-shifting powers should work is to make the shifting more fun, and that the shifting should be effective. I'm for the protean model, where you might shift many times per encounter. Another model would be to choose just one creature and deal with that, but it sounds less fun. Well, I'll post the rest of my rules. Issue is that the way they're designed might require play to get, because the effects conditions imposed connect to the shapes. -vk |
