I have a Player that has a beastmaster ranger and thinks it is underpowered compared to other ranger types. He is about to change his beast companion to a raptor from a wolf and has asked if he could have an amended attack that the bird can do instead of the standard beast attack.

There is a back story that the bird was once a cleric therefore he wants the bird to be able perform an attack as a standard action that deals radiant damage.

I have suggested this would be a third at will and that is was unbalanced, so have suggested a compromise that he retains away his non-twin strike at-will for Predator strike (MP p43) but we will add the Radiant keyword to it.

Does this seem fair?

Any thoughts or alternative suggestion would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that adding Radiant to a single power for a non-Radiant abusing character isn't going to break anything.

It's only going to come up when he fights Undead probably, and that extra few points of damage won't hurt anything, especially considering he's a Striker anyway.

agreed. it's adding some power, but it's controlled: if you feel the player diserves some spotlight you can throw radiant vulnerable creatures against 'm.

Like he said beastmasters are underwhelming compared to other rangers, so adding a single keyword to one attack isn't going to break the game.
