| #1chapienAug 05, 2008 19:41:40 | So, lately I have beenplaying Paper Mario on the N64. How does this relate to D&D? Well, the game showed me that not only is a Mario rping game possable, but also fun. So, it made me think about running a D&D campaign in the Mario world. Not that I will do it now, I was just curious to see if it would work. I realised almost all of the races would have to be homebrew. So, I decided to start work. Here is what I have so far. Please give me ideas for races, classes, skills, etc. RACES: Human: As in PHB. Why choose human? Because Mario, Luigi, and Peach are all human. Toad: Need ideas. Koopa: Was thinking of shell kick as an encounter power. Shell Kick Racial Power You hide in your shell and throw yourself at the enemy. Encounter Minor Action One creature Effect: You roll in your shell at the enemy, causing 3 damage. You then roll back at the foe, causing 3 more damage. You roll to see if you hit twice, once on the first and once on the second attack. Goomba: Need ideas. Penguin guy: Need ideas, I am not even sure what they are called in the Mario games. Mouse guy: Need ideas, same as with Penguin guy. So, what do you all think? |

If you go by your Super Mario 2 lore, where Toad was playable, he was (in that game) disturbingly strong. Also, in SM64, Mario can continually jump on their heads and do no damage. So a +2 STR, +2 CON racial bonus wouldn't be totally off for them. Being part fungi probably aids them against poisons too, wouldn't you think. Toads are also always useful NPCs in games, so maybe something to do with feats could be good. I don't see Goombas being playable. They're always minions. What about Lakitus? Pirahna Plants? Shy Guys? Yoshis? Boos? I love Boo's, so I'd like to play the latter. In the earlier games, Bowser also seemed to have alot of koopa kids, though this seems to have been discarded in the newer material (there's just Bowser Jr. now). |
