I had a really great time building everything and the PCs really enjoyed it. Here are some pictures. I am wondering if anyone else is using 3D mapping and how are you doing it? I know there is some third party companies you can buy 3D maps from. Anyone using those? I am going to start working on my next My Realms advenutre in 3D but am curious to hear feedback, ideas/suggestions, etc on other people's 3d mapping experiences. Hades |

I use Izware Nendo for all my modeling its quick, easy and cheap compared to most paid-for apps. Then I export to .OBJ format and import to one of my more comprehensive 3D apps like Raydream Studio (nolonger available), Cararra or Cinema 4D. Usually I reserve using 3D to create rooftops, structures, or individual map objects (trees and such). I have been known to create entire interior structures, dungeons and the like completely in 3D, but I like working fast, and a total 3D map is never fast. Generally I use Xara Xtreme, hand-drawings or GIMP to generate the majority of the map, then import my 3D map objects to finish it off. Here's a link to one map where I used 3D to create statuary for a temple... Temple of the Sea God This was a winning map entry for a Map Contest for Iron Crown Enterprises, so don't mind the hexes, its what they prefer (not my game, I just like to enter contests!) GP |
