So my players wanted a spur of the moment encounter, and for some reason Indiana Jones popped into my head. The party is a group of explorers/ treasure hunters anyway, so at the end of the encounter they opened, essentially, "the lost ark" (casting an eruption of divine energy and damaging everyone who didn't have their eyes closed) And inside discovered two stone tablets. What do you think of these completely made-up, spur-of-the-moment items? Do they seem reasonable? My players are lvl 6, and we enjoy a certain amount of ridiculousness in our games.

---------------
Commandments Tablet 1
This tablet, and it’s twin, record the ancient laws of the god Bahamut. They are infused with righteous energy.

Power (Daily): Standard Action.
The tablet emits an intense glow of righteous energy within a 10-square radius. Anyone that can see the light has an attack made against them (+15 vs Fort). A hit causes the victim to take 10 radiant damage, and they are blinded until the end of their next turn.

Special: “Thou shalt not lie.” +2 to insight checks while carrying this tablet. But -2 to Bluff checks.
----------------

Commandments Tablet 2
This tablet, and it’s twin, record the ancient laws of the god Bahamut. They are infused with righteous energy.

Power (Daily):
 Standard Action.
The tablet emits the thunderous sound of Bahamut’s gavel over a 10-square radius. Anyone that can hear the sound has an attack made against them (+15 vs Wil). A hit causes the victim to take 5 ongoing radiant damage (save ends), and they are knocked prone and deafened.

Special: “Thou shalt not murder.” -2 to attack rolls vs bloodied enemies who have not attacked you.

Yes they do; I would enjoy a game like this. Makes me wanna finish doing the convert of the Historian class for 4e actually....

Surely you meant "Enemies"..right? Or is it going to hurt the PCs too? Perhaps it should target Evil and Chaotic Evil aligned only, or all that are not of Good or Lawful Good alignments (for a stricter judgement from Bahamut)

EDIT: The powers should trigger upon being touched for the first time too, so it would make sense why those with darkness in their hearts would be loathe to touch them. And to add some flavor to their procurement.

Hey, thanks for the input. Actually, though, I DO intend for the tablets to hurt PCs! Only if they have their eyes open, though, (which they already know). I like for the tablets to have this air of uncontrollable power- even the PCs can't totally control them, you know?

And what's this you say about the Historian class? I've never heard of this but I'm instantly intrigued.

Actually, it IS designed for 4th - Heres the Historian's base class first page (I claim no credit for this work; it came from another site actually, apparently after much playtesting since it is in a nifty PDF format that I screencapped for ya..)

Its an intriguing take on a decidedly Indy-inspired class. I had forgotten most of the details on this when I first responded (I originally thought it was a 3e class..doh! must be I look at too many classes..)

I believe the writer said he made it so he could run it in a group comprised entirely of Historians. I would copy paste some of it, but its a 37 pg PDF, complete with Paragons, a few magic items, plus 23 Heroic, 12 Paragon, and 12 Epic tier feats! (Somebody realllly likes Indy lol)

But yea just PM me if you want it.
