| #2boarstormMay 16, 2008 16:46:57 | Awesome, thanks! |
| #3Gold_KatanaMay 16, 2008 18:56:11 | Yes, cool! Thanks for the tip. :D |
| #4CendragonMay 16, 2008 21:39:04 | Pages 38, 40 and 58 of the Adventure Book mention using a bull rush, how do you do that? Ahem, actually on page 65 there are some basic rules for how to perform a Bull Rush. Bull Rush: To attempt a bull rush, make a Strength vs. Fortitude attack. If the attack succeeds, push the target 1 square and move into the vacated square. |
| #5lorathzMay 19, 2008 12:54:52 | The FAQ for the Keep on the Shadowfell has gone up, check it out. When I try to view that, I get "That answer is no longer available." Any idea where it went? |
| #6stormonuMay 19, 2008 13:35:39 | Apparently, its under construction...it was there last night. Another question - what are the effects of invisibility? I did not see information on game effects in either the adventure or the fast-play book. |
| #7dimitrixMay 19, 2008 13:47:31 | Well, I was going to ask some questions on the FAQ, but I'll post them here. Please provide a list of conditions that do/do not provoke opportunity attacks. Primarily, does standing after falling prone provoke an opportunity attack from adjacent enemies? Also, how does lighting work in 4e? I see that the conditions section of each encounter lists illumination as 'bright light', 'dim light', and 'darkness'. How do they effect characters with normal vision, low light vision, and darkvision? |
| #8stormonuMay 19, 2008 13:56:33 | The halfling slinger has an ability with "recharge 5 6" next to it. What does this mean/do? |
| #9Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 14:01:19 | From Prerelease v2.2:CONCEALMENT [speculative]: Partial concealment grants +2 to all your defenses, including AC. Full concealment (including invisibility), gives +5 to all defenses, including AC. Enemies must guess which square to attack in the case of full concealment. Opportunity Attacks You can make up to one of these per each opponents turn. Moving away from or past an opponent usually triggers them. Ranged or Area attacks provoke Opportunity Attacks. Close, Personal, and Melee do not. Forced movement does not provoke Opportunity Attacks. Use a basic melee attack in Opportunity Attacks, not a Power (unless specifically stated). |
| #10Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 14:02:38 | Halfing slinger - Each turn, roll 1D6. If the result is a 5 or 6, the slinger's power is ready to use again. |
| #11Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 14:07:09 | It will be very helpful if mod DM's go out to ENWorld and download the prerelease rules. They are not official but have been gathered from various official sources. Prior to the rule books actually coming out, they can answer many of the game play questions (although a few rulings might have to be tweaked when the PHB is actually here). |
| #12Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 14:10:42 | Per latest prerelease; standing takes a move action and draws an opportunity attack. |
| #13stormonuMay 19, 2008 14:13:18 | Halfing slinger - Each turn, roll 1D6. If the result is a 5 or 6, the slinger's power is ready to use again. Thanks GK, this helps. Where did you get this from, the ENWorld stuff you mentioned? |
| #14dimitrixMay 19, 2008 14:21:52 | It will be very helpful if mod DM's go out to ENWorld and download the prerelease rules. They are not official but have been gathered from various official sources. Prior to the rule books actually coming out, they can answer many of the game play questions (although a few rulings might have to be tweaked when the PHB is actually here). Thanks for the responses but these aren't helpful. I have an official 4e DnD product and I'd like to have to official 4e DnD ruling. All of this pre-release and PHB-lite stuff was fine while we were all having fun just trying to figure out what the rules will be and how they will work. But, for $30 for the adventure, I want to play the adventure by the right rules and not have to change everything on June 6 when the core books finally come out. |
| #15nightchillMay 19, 2008 14:30:53 | Per latest prerelease; standing takes a move action and draws an opportunity attack. Sorry to bring this back up Gold Katana but I don't see this in the latest (v2.5) pre-release taken from this thread. PRONE: You are at -2 on all attacks. Emphasis mine. The spelling mistake in provokes vs provoke makes me think it was changed (to "does not") from one version to the next and v2.2 that you reference is out of date. Cheers! |
| #16Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 17:00:45 | Thanks for the responses but these aren't helpful. Then wait for the books. WotC has never made it a habit to answer specific rules questions in these forums. And no one on the outside (i.e. here) has the official rules anymore than you do. ![]() |
| #17Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 17:08:29 | Prerelease compilation can be found at the top of this page: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=221806 Nightchill is absolutely right, I was referencing v2.2 but the latest (v2.5) says it is a move action that does NOT draw AoO. My bad!:embarrass |
| #18dimitrixMay 19, 2008 18:34:48 | Then wait for the books. WotC has never made it a habit to answer specific rules questions in these forums. And no one on the outside (i.e. here) has the official rules anymore than you do. This is the official Wizards of the Coast forums right? So, there should be at least one developer/writer that's floating around that can answer this question. |
| #19Gold_KatanaMay 19, 2008 19:08:37 | If you say so. But unless there has been a radical change in how WotC interacts on these boards, you are not going to get a list of AoO', descriptions of visions, and rules for lighting conditions. Nor are you going to get lists of items costs, ritual rules, or a complete list of powers (other rules demanded by other parties in other posts). It simply is not going to happen! You're going to do just like the hundreds of others posters here and go out on June 6 (or thereabouts) and buy the books. In the meantime, I and others have tried to give you decent references and spit-rules. But you don't want those because it would be such a strain to possibly shift a bonus or two one point later in the campaign. So, like I said earlier - wait for the books. |
| #20Gold_KatanaMay 20, 2008 15:20:32 | There is a RULES Q & A forum ("official answers"). Perhaps some clarifications could be prised out of WotC if the above questions were listed there. |
| #21dimitrixMay 20, 2008 17:30:36 | The following actions provoke: • Moving out of a square when an enemy is adjacent to you. • Making a ranged attack or area attack. If it's not on that list, it doesn't provoke. __________________ Logan Bonner Mechanical Designer, Dungeons & Dragons |
| #22Gold_KatanaMay 20, 2008 18:44:42 | I love that simplicity. No more glares from the spell casters (assuming they choose wisely). |
| #23stormonuMay 20, 2008 19:51:59 | This is something one of my players caught. I sent it off to customer service, hopefully they will add it to the FAQ. "The halfling's attack bonus for his abilities appear to be calculated using ranged attacks. If he uses a melee attack, are the bonuses to hit +5 instead of +8?" |
| #24pukunuiMay 20, 2008 19:54:57 | The FAQ for the Keep on the Shadowfell has gone up, check it out. I just get an "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error" message whenever I click on that link. Then again, I get that error whenever I click on the "Help" tab at the top of the website, too. ![]() |
| #25bohemondMay 20, 2008 20:45:56 | This is something one of my players caught. I sent it off to customer service, hopefully they will add it to the FAQ. The halfling bonus are correct. His basic melee attack uses strength, but all of his powers use dex to calculate their to hit bonuses. |
