Just a quick question. I tried searching for this, but keep getting an error when searching the forum for KOTS Treasure.

Comparing the DMG information about treasure to the adventure KOTS it seems like there is too much treasure given out, at least for the first level.

DMG shows 4 magic items and coins worth 720 gp. The mirror and holy symbol found add up to more than the coin. I saw at least 2 magic items in the first few encounters. Am I looking wrong?

Also, the treasure sections specify that the weapons on the mobs are part of the treasure, yet the book seems to contradict that by saying that mundane armor and weapons are not worth anything, or at best 1/5 of their selling price.

Curious on what I'm overlooking. Thanks for your assistance.

Well, for starters, that holey symbol is a magic item... so don't count that against the gold.

As for the gold... I'd have to add it up, but looking at the magic items, I think it's about right. I'm sure the route taken and order of encounters might impact whether the treasure is exactly right for level 1 or level 2 or level 3.

Well in theory KOTS finishes just about the time the PC's hit level 3 right? So that treasure collected over three levels isnt bad at all considering they automatically start with 100gp according to the Players Handbook.

The players start at level 1... they level twice in the Keep, and then should have enough xp at the end to level again. So, they should finish at or very near level 4.

Which, for a group of 5, is actually not a whole lot. The DMG recommends 4 magic items per level.

Well, I hadn't fully gone through the book and was only looking at the encounters that would get them to level 2. I found a thread that added up all treasure from the book, so haven't gone any further on this thread.
