| #1Loki5654May 20, 2008 19:05:04 | So here's the skinny: I've put together a group to play 4th Edition and I'm going to be running Keep on the Shadowfell. Our first game session will be taking place before the Core books are out but our subsequent session will be taking place after the Core release. So, should I have my players continue the game with the pregens (and maybe let them revamp them a little) or should I let them create completely new characters with the full ruleset? I can see the pros and cons of each choice but I wanted to give it a little more in-depth thought before I talk to my players about it. Thanks in advance, Loki |

Start with the pregen and then swap later? start with the pregens, then restart later with new characters? They're all viable options, and your group's opinion is the one that matters the most. |

Thanks for the tips! NOTE: I have requested that this be moved to DM Guidance as that is the more appropriate section. |

The festival marks the Xth year since the great heroes of Y cleared the Shadowfell Keep (which it is still called, because I'm too lazy to renaim it). When they walk past (what looks like) a rather important event they see a puppet show. Fast forward X amount of years. The players pick up the pregens and run through the puppet show. |

So we'll be starting with the pregens, but with the allowance that if we like the game and want to buy the main books, the players will get a free "character morph" that will allow them to make a new character but keep all the xp and treasure they gained as the pregens. |
