| #1aran_kellSep 28, 2008 13:58:59 | I've been drawing up the den of an elder red dragon. I have the requisite huge pile of gold, the by-land entrance, and the cliff overlooking the dragon's territory, but I've got a lot more space to fill, and I'm having some trouble coming up with things to add in. I know some charred remains of slain heroes are going in there, but above and beyond that, I'm not sure what else to add. this particular dragon lives in a shaped cavern beneath the citadel of the Archmage (who has been gone for a thousand years) and is charged with guarding the citadel until the Archmage returns. he has an enchanted gazing pool that grants the dragon clairvoyance into any chamber of the citadel save for the Archmage's private chambers which are protected from scrying of any sort. the PC's won't fight him until later, but they may encounter him earlier if they explore the western portion of the citadel. Barrogoth (the Dragon) has the Archmage's sword hanging around his neck from a heavy chain. he will tolerate the player's existence in the citadel, since they have been dealing with a few pests that have been mucking about the citadel. When they take the Archmage's staff from the library, however, he won't be so tolerant. the fight won't take place in the Barrogoth's lair unless the PC's escalate it, but above the citadel on a set of levitating stones that bridge the library, the eastern tower, and the airship dock. this is what I've got so far: |

They're too small and numerous for him to take care of, so he hires the PCs. Maybe there are deeper caverns beneath the Drake full of weird nasties. What if some of those charred remains got up and started walking again? |
