I'm close to the endgame on this campaign. Long story short, a quest that ends with the party entering a larger than colossal statue. I need ideas for unique traps, and obstacles in vertical passages and corridors. And the way rooms and chambers would be arranged. I'm low on creativity, and just need a boost. I appreciate any help.

Statue of a person? Model the inside of the statue after a real person. Have a stomach room full of acid and maybe an acid monster. A bunch of "White blood Cell" oozes. stuff like that.

If they're earth-bound (or even if they can fly everywhere), consider spiraling chambers upward like the core of a tower.

For a twist, you could have some rooms have magic traps that change gravity so you walk along the walls. Spikes along the floors and ceiling may be a place to push enemies or a hazard the enemies use against the PCs, but when the gravity shifts back again, PCs'll have to find a floor or ceiling to stand on. Make such a chamber self-contained, starting and ending with the same gravity, so you don't have to plan what happens when the PCs enter the next room with a gravity for which you didn't plan. Basically have 2 room maps: a side view and a top-down view, both gridded, then you'll know how far people fall when someone hits the button.

When an explosion or some climbing monster/hazard scales the tower from below the party, they'll have to make it thru rooms under a round-limit (play-test this by yourself to reach a good limit). They can set up traps to halt the creature's advance for a round, and when they reach some point, they can chop loose an elevator or hanging weight to crush the beast or create a barrier between them.

You could have the statue be in five seperate pieces which the players have to find and activate...once they are all activated the piece (which are themselves statues of other things like giant cats or something) will fly out, each controlled by one of the PC's and merge into one big humanoid statue, so that each of the smaller statues turned into legs and arms...oh the biggest of the small statues could be for the leader of the party and it could turn into the chest and head.

Once all statues are merged into one then passages open up between them and the characters can all run up to the main control room in the head.

Then they could control the collossal statue and use it to do battle with other giant beasts and constructs.

I like the idea of an acid room. And setting traps in the vertical corridors above the creatures. The PC is a rogue so that works well. The statue holds this artifact inside it, so traveling through it would be the challenge. Thanks for the ideas.
