Hi everybody,

I'm making an adventure which can be scaled to fit a party of any level.  I'd love to get some feedback before I continue writing it.

Lighthouses
An adventure for characters of any level.  Just scale encounters accordingly.

The city of Crescent, which surrounds a crescent-shaped bay surrounding the ocean, has many lighthouses.  Each emits light via magical means.  The magic is said to last forever allowing each lighthouse to be seen from miles away at sea.  That is why the mayor of Crescent grew concerned when one lighthouse’s light turned off.

He has hired the adventurers to investigate and re-light the lighthouse with a ritual he has provided.

            Alight
Level: N/A   Category: Creation   Time: 10 minutes   Duration: Permanent
Component Cost: N/A                   Market Price: N/A
Key Skill: Arcana, Religion, Thievery or Nature
Effect: The Lighthouse’s magical light turns back on permanently.
Special: This ritual must be performed in front of the lighthouse’s central battery
Special: This ritual scroll can be used an unlimited number of times

The mayor goes on to explain that each lighthouse is connected to a different plane, which is how they get the energy needed to keep them alight.  Each lighthouse is actually an extraplanar portal into the realm which provides the power.  For instance, some lead nowhere as they are powered by the material plane, some lead into the feywild, others into the shadowfell, and still some lead into elemental chaos and the astral sea (though these are rare).  Due to their innate magical nature, the lighthouses interiors can be far larger than their exteriors would lead people to believe.  The mayor cannot remember which lighthouses are tired to which planes, it has been far too long since anybody ventured inside them for him to remember.  This information might be acquired by consulting the library or sages throughout the city (as skill challenges).

There are numerous sectors of the town, each named after the inhabiting lighthouse.  Different sectors have local representatives who act as consultants for the mayor of Crescent as a whole.

The representative of Sector III is present at this meeting.  He explains that it is her lighthouse which has somehow burned out.  She tells the group exact directions to get to the lighthouse, but is uncertain how to enter.  To her knowledge nobody has ever entered the lighthouse except for the people who originally built and lit them many years ago.

That's the basic premise of the adventure.  I'm writing the first light house right now, and know where I'm going with it.  Immediately following the relighting of the lighthouse, they PCs will be delivered a message.  Something like, "As the first is lit, all others grow as dark as the future of Crescent."

Once they exit this first lighthouse (via a portal at the top so they don't need to go through everything all over again), they PCs will discover that every lighthouse save the one they lit has gone dark and roughly 5 years have passed since they ventured inside.  Crime is now at an all time high in Crescent.  The mayor has been dead since the PCs entered the tower, though nobody really knows what killed him.  Now, each sector's representative acts as his or her own mayor, and a power struggle has ensued.  The representative of Sector III, is still alive but her sector has been more or less enslaved by the other sectors.

That's all i've got so far.  Still working on the idea.

If anybody has some feedback for me, I'd really appreciate it!  Thanks so much, I know I can count on you guys
