Even better would be a program that generates random world maps based on user input, but I haven't been able to find something like that. I'm looking for a "blank slate" to start my world, with hopefully a full world map with regions, roads, towns, sites, etc. |

Its a great resource and one place I go for inspiration when I need it. There are several methodoligies you can use to make maps and several programs... one for making maps is called Campaign Cartographer 3 made by ProFantasy... it is a CAD based fantasy map making program, does have a learning curve, unless you are familair with CAD. Most others use Photoshop or Gimp. A scaled down and more primative mapping application is called Fractal Mapper... if you JUST want a map, and not looking for the Golden Look... then maybe this might be to your taste. |

Indeed, the Cartographers Guild is a great place to look. There are some great tutorials for making your own maps and battlemaps with free tools like GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program). .g |
