Loosening attribute usage.

I'm thinking of implementing something like this, and was wondering how it might impact my game balance. Some advice would be nice.

First, I am altering clerics to use Wis for all their attack rolls, though any ability that uses Str as a secondary still uses Str as secondary. In the same vein, Paladins now use Str for all their attack rolls, Warlocks make all their rolls with Cha, and Rangers make all their rolls with Dex. As with clerics, the secondary effects remain boosted by whatever attribute they say they're boosted with.

Second, with half-elf Dilletante, or when you take power swap feats via multiclassing, as long as the power source is the same as that of your primary class, you may change the relevant attack attribute to the attack attribute of your primary class in any place it occurs in the power name. Further, any secondary attribute in the power changes to one of your class secondaries (GM discretion: try to keep them within the same groups as they give bonuses to defenses, if possible, ie. str/con, dex/int, wis/cha. Failing that, choose by physical/mental, ie. str/con/dex, int/wis/cha).

I'm not seeing anywhere this really upsets the balance; it allows PHB1 classes to switch between the roles better, blurring the distinction between laser and smashy cleric. I was finding that my players - poor optimisers all - were trying to do both roles of a class (ranged ranger who has a selection of twf attacks for getting in close) and were getting frustrated that they were increasingly bad at both because of tryign to split between two attributes. I don't feel this should be punished; it doesn't make a more optimal ranger to be able to switch weapons and use more ranger powers effectively, it just makes one that is more fun to build.

The multiclass change just allows more multiclassing without worrying too much about optimal synergy, something that had been bugging me. I haven't decided yet how to deal with potential paragon MCing and Versatile Master, but I have some ideas.

Melee ranger would still need str for weapons feats. Actually, before house rules melee ranger still have good reason too pump dex if they use scimitars. The warlock changes sound fine. As does the paladin and cleric
