"Lords of Creation” is one of the most addictive forum games you’ll ever encounter. You might recall one of the earlier versions, played on these boards and the 3.5 boards. If you saw it and wanted to join but the collective history was too daunting, fear not; now is your chance. This is a play-by-post cooperative world-building game in which the players take on the role of gods, with the full powers and influence thereof. The goal of this is to produce a campaign world complete with history, pantheon, geography, races, creatures, and anything you could possibly imagine. One of the best elements is that the world is entirely organic; ancient wars, cultural growth, and divine conflicts are actually the result of warring interests, rather than being pulled whole cloth from a single person’s imagination. This provides diversity that you just can’t find anywhere else. And of course, we have a LOT of fun along the way. To facilitate play and later use, we also have a wikia where game information (such as homebrew races, maps, classes, etc) will be posted: lordsofcreation.wikia.com

You can find the basic rules here: lordsofcreation.wikia.com/wiki/Basic_Rul...

What exactly is the point of the Waiting List?

Anyway...

Yay! LoC is back up! FOR REALZ!

Think we should start a LoC 3 Development Thread?/

OOC works fine for it.

Then waiting list is where we keep players waiting to join the game. It was more important early on, when we were holding back and not letting everybody flood too fast.

For LoC III, I was thinking that we should make it more difficult to negate actions. Perhaps twice the original PP cost of said action? Also, I think nourishes and techs should be split into separate groups. Say, Civilian, Industrial, and Military? Nerd also suggested that perhaps we should incorporate civilization levels, i.e renaissance, middle ages, iron age, bronze age, copper age, and stone age. Maybe 4PP to advance a civ. one level? Also, if anyone has ideas for a system to determine nation on nation battles I would be interested to see it.

On another subject, a random events table, maybe activated once a month, could be interesting? Events such as Great Famine, all societies with agriculture as a tech have a 1PP denourish, or Holy Empowerment, all good aligned gods get 1PP bonus for one turn. What do you think?

Tinwe--who is this girl calling out for Mara? I have no idea...

In other news. I am going to be very sparse in the coming future. Tommorow only a bit, and then Thursday-Saturday I am moving half way round the world. It may be a few more days until I check in. Not quitting, but will be "away" If you need Mara for anything, please PM me a notice and maybe a quick summary or what not so I don't miss it.

Unfortunately I will likely not be able to do much with the Ae-Sylvani-Gnome thing, yet, since that would put myself in a highly disadvantageous position.

Have a good move, Massive, and don't worry about the Ae-Sylvani/Children interaction... it can wait for when you have time again, and anyways, after this turn or next, I think the Ae-Sylvani will pity them more than anything.

Goodbye ppl, hehe btw let's don't forget the vote in progress on the other thread while I'm off :p

Maybe we should report the partial resoults and the vote post here.

Okay. Then lets do this publicly and clearly. It seems like a lot of people are wanting to restart, but lets hammer that out a bit more. Here is the 'official' poll

Two questions.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) Do you want to restart now or in the near future?
2) Regardless of what you answered above, were we to restart, when would you like to restart? (immediately, one week, one month...)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once we do decide when we're gonna restart, we should talk about a number of issues including how we pick admins, what the process is for disputing rulings, things like that.

Current Votes (check the ad Interim Post)
Against: Shadow, Topheh.
Pro: Nerdzul, Chapien, Ekluag, Angelofnight, Aldii
Neutral: Mechalibur

Goodbye ppl and have fun :p

No, Eijra is mad. She wants to destroy the Inner world and sees the shrinking of it as a first step of making the world in to a better place.

You can always try to fight the changes she has made in game, but the chances are the she will just continue with her general destruction until she is taken down.

I have posted in the IC Thread. I was thinking about doing something different for a change to how Torvek woke up. :D

For the LoC III, I'm thinking about a few greater planes of existence as Base planes to install the lesser planes for the gods for when we do start over.
(The original list was in the Interim Thread, so this list has been revised)

Greater Planes & Descriptions

Far Realms: A place of utter mystery, the Far Realms has a thick atmosphere of chaotic energies that morphs the land and changes the physical bodies of organic matter into abberant, unknown forms. The Far Realms is an apparent wasteland of constantly shifting and morphing structures and lifeforms. Mortal beings subject into the grey wastes of the Far Realms may experience periods of time subdued into a weightless space in one moment, then fall facedown onto earthen rock the next. Mortals may also experience small amounts of Corporeal Instability, until they get out of the Far Realms. Gods that exsist within the Far Realms are keepers of great lore, but are often hard to reach, since the extraterrestrial lands of the Far Realms hinders traffic greatly.

Astral Sea: The dominion of the divine outposts, the Astral Sea is the main Hub plane of most of the gods that pursue creation and destruction. Dozens of dominions float along the wave-like energies that supplies the powers needed to sustain the mortal worlds below. Besides being gods within the Astral Sea, there are also small communities of Githyanki Pirates that litter through the waves. The Astral Skiffs the Githyanki ride are a common sight around the dominions, but they are a threat to the mortals that travel through the Astral Sea. Angels also litter the many dominions of the Astral Sea as divine guardians and servitors to the great Gods of the plane.

Elemental Chaos: A place pf birth and death, the Elemental Chaos is home to some of the most magnificent and devestating Primordials that have walked across the mortal lands. The elemental Chaos is a constant sea of the raging elements that make up the Chaos- Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. Gopds that live within the Elemental Chaos are usually the keepers of these powerful elemental energies, so they possess great lore on their homeland. Mortals may have a hard time travelling through the Elemental Chaos- especially when the land masses explode into the different elemental powers.

Feywild Frontier: The Feywild Frontier is a hospitable plane for mortals as well as gods who pursue both Arcane and Divine arts. Essentially, lots of things can live in the frontier. Wild hunters like the Gnolls and the Orcs run rampid through the thick jungles of the main frontier, while vast bodies of water surrounds the edge of the sand- laiden shorelines. Titanic mountains rise above the bulk of the mainland, casting forboding shadows among most of the inhabitants that live in the jungles and prairies.

Shadowfell: The land shrouded in death and undeath, the Shadowfell posesses great dangers to many who lurk within the tunnels of the Shadowfell. Up above, mysterious twilight zones warp time and bring about an aura of fear, as Necromantic energies surge through the wastes. Vast number of undead figures stalk the land, hunting for the living when their souls had been destroyed by forces that have haunted them since their time of death. The stronger creatures live closer to the center of the Shadowfell, where most of the gods who pursue the undeath glories lay in wait.

Whitelands: Huge blizzards ravage this plane, as the Whitelands conquer most of this scarce plane. Very few mortals can survive in these harsh conditions, as mounting winds and subzero temperatures create monstrous amounts of snow too deep for foot travel. There are few places where mortals can live in- small refuges that provide excellent shelter for travellers that had got caught within the Whitelands. Winter wolves scourge the Whitelands in search of food. Few gods have found the Whitelands as their home, but there are some present and they change the climate to where they see fit.

The Great Maw: A huge sinkhole lined with buildings and cities, the Great Maw is home to some of the best flyers ever known to existence. Even though the Great Maw doesn't seem like a good place to stay, the construction of some of the cities are very unique and they offer easy transportation to other cities and to the surface area above the Great Maw. Many gods who end up here find this to be a good home of opportunity and they see to it that the Great Maw stays in existence for years to come.

Skyway River: This celestial river of energy links all of the Greater and Lesser Planes together. The planes are not all connected, but the Skyway River leads travellers to their destination by use of Celestial Airboats. Gods most often use this to get to other planes of existence. Planes not connected to the Skyway River are thus harder to reach but not impossible to get to.

Xeadin,

That would be a huge deviation from both the history and spirit of the LoC games, which are primarially about creating ANYTHING you can imagine, rather than working within a framework of planes that already exist. We can talk about it more in the planning thread for the next game... but I for one think that we don't need those sort of restrictions.

True- It was just a thought. I was thinking to myself the other day on how would anyone be able to live in a space of nothingness when they first start to play the LoC. I wasn't even thinking about restrictions when I was doing that, so thanks for the reminder. Plus, I've got this HUGE library of different planes and worlds just swirling through my head right now.

Question- did somebody create the Skyway River, or is that an important piece to the LoC?

In any case, I'm all ears for a new LoC III. :D

Oh...

Well, time to think of another character then! ...maybe...

I want to be able to keep Corelloth in, because I'm doing this campaign in D&D where Corelloth is up to no good in the country that I have created. The LoC is kind of a backstory for what is happening when Torvek, Dolestre, and Corelloth are not around Anorbus. Sounds kind of weird, but... I pulled it off somehow, by using my imagination! :D

Was that when the LoC first started to take off on the WotC Forums? I was told to have my Lesser plane to be connected to the Skyway River, or else I had to pay an extra 1pp to create the plane if it wasn't.

I hope I wasn't misunderstanding anything...

Well, I'm going to leave voting open until the saturday reset, but it does seem as if we have some fairly consistent trends appearing. LoC 3 is likely not too far away! Hold in there

Xeadin,

There have now been two LoC games. Both started from scratch, with absolutely nothing created but an empty and formless prime plane. From there, players have created each and every thing that affects people in the game. The skyway river is an artifact, much like your chakram, just with some special triggers worked into it so that it spends its PP automatically to make creating a plane not attached to it harder. There's another artifact that does a similar thing, but it makes creating bodies of land in the Aether harder... which is one of the reasons that I've been working so hard to find alternate ways of settling the place (back of a turtle, on a pre-existing rock, on giant amoebas... none of it 'new land'... (heh... I wonder if Massive is annoyed at my trickery and thats why she's killing my people off )

When the next LoC starts, there will be no skyway river, no inner and outer worlds, no sun, no moons, no stars, no Astral Sea, no Humites, no Imperium, no Dragons, no Library, no Noth... there will just be the void, waiting for us to fill it. In this LoC, the void even became a god for a little while, which made things even more interesting. Take a read of the first couple pages of this LoC to get a feel for what the start of the game will look like. While I'm sad to see this version go, I *am* looking forward to the opportunities the next will allow.

Chapien:
So, Corelloth is planning something nasty- I think that she might be executing her plan to destroy a plane...

We still don't know which Plane she is targeting...

The bomb she had placed won't destroy Azora, but rather scorch a small part of the island. In place, a huge column of flame will rise up like a pllar to the Skyway River. Something tells me that she may be up to no good...

It takes 1pp to disarm the flame for a day, but immediately rearms after a day has passed. When the flame does go off, it then takes 3pp to extinguish the pillar.

Actually, honestly at this point, we could make Terena an entire campaign locale... super adventure style. At the moment, we have:

The Mournelord himself, bound and entombed, but able to project his mind and image.
A large number of vampires, it would appear headed by Iyelle. They've created a fortress around the center of the old city to protect the physical form of the Mournelord.
Shadowspawn and FleshPuppetts, as Mecha has created.
My skull swarm... which I should probably turn insubstansial... seeing that they are ghosts...
And my generic 'various forms of undead' that have moved in.

My initial idea of Old Terena was to have it be a single adventure in the mid paragon tier, where characters would venture into the opened city of the dead, fight their way to the Mournelord's chamber, and rip the amulet of Life... or whatever I called it, from his chest, killing him and leaving the rest of the undead leaderless.

At this point, if there is interest among three of us, we could expand it into a location that could support a series of adventures... roaming into the bizzare opening that has been discovered, fighting off a zombie hoard in the streets of Terena, learning more about the threat, killing Iyelle and finally the original adventure to finish off the Mournelord.

Angel, Mecha... by all means help! For one of you its your original city, for the other, its one of your creations that is forming the big bad. When we're done... I think I'll actually write it up into an adventure and we'll play through it.

How much PP does an Exarch have, then? Torvek did not create it.
#39

Topheh

Aug 14, 2009 15:02:01
0 or 1, and the type of that 1 is set at creation.

As it stands right now, any one of us could snap his fingers and make the bomb dissapear, or that gateway you have earlier, or the primordials that don't exist yet. PP is what makes things go from fluff and illusion to reality in the game, and is expended by the player to actuate that effect.

In order for your artifact to operate as you desire, it would have to look like the following.

It would be a 3 PP artifact, that provides 1 PP denourish (the pillar of flame) that is automatically expended each turn unless another god spends 1 PP to deactivate the device for the turn. Destroying the artifact permanantly would be 3 PP, the same cost as it took to create it in the first place.

Once again, I urge you to read over the rules on the wiki: lordsofcreation.wikia.com . It will tell you much of what you need to know.

Xeadin

Ah, I see.

The mechanics of the LoC on spending PP is not detailed enough or is confusing in the Wiki...

In the next LoC, we should probably work on defining the rules for spending PP more clearly for newcomers to know what to do, instead of making fluff up. I'm having a hard time searching for what I need on the Wiki.

[EDIT]: Okay- a second glance pieces a lot of things together now- Exarches have 1pp, but they can use your pp as well...

Hmm. Torvek's gonna have a hard time with Corelloth now...

Wait! If they can use your character's pp, then can they use that for their Combat Bonus?
... Or is that a misunderstanding?

Angel-

Monster base stats look good, although the powers seem fairly overpowered. I'd either switch it to be something bigger than a level 1, or drastically cut down on the number and strength of the powers (average damage per hit is ~9, which at level one will knock off mebbe 1/3 of a players HP in one go... 1/2 off of a wizard with a low constitution score (8) and with the double slam, we're talking almost one-round kills.

drop the damage dice down to d4s or something, or a constant number... that way you can do two and it wont be deadly. I like the two attacks for a fast zombie... and if you want to keep it at level 1... get rid of the rest of the powers

Actually, looking at the powers... I'm just gonna say you didn't change them from some other enemy... otherwise it wouldn't reanimate to 105 HP ;)

Megabyter,

Here would be the place to post your god's intro block. At the moment... the future of the game is up in the air, but if you wanted to get a flavor of how the game is played, you'd be welcome to start playing now... just be aware that odds are you won't be able to get much done before we restart.

I'm sort of having a problem with designing Iyelle. I want to give her a nice variety of powers, but once I add in the powers from the vampire template, it just seems like she has way too many abilities. I wonder if it will be a big deal if I cut of Dominating Gaze, Mist Form, and Second Wind.

Then again, I'm not sure if vampires in this game are different than the template in the DMG.

I just think it's odd that they gave vampires both blood drain and second wind. It makes vampire fights last too long...

Actually the template doesn't give second wind. It just appears on the MM vampires.

Perhaps I was unclear, ignore the sblocked information. I was using a statblock to know where to input information. For the damage, I used the DMGs medium class damage for a lvl 1-3 monster. I thought this was the basic melee damage? Please help me. :P

Alright, this is gonna show, more than it already does, that I havn't fully read the DMG but... I thought Skirmesher monsters were fast and heavy hitters? I'm trying to create a monster that is easy to kill, but does a lot of damage and attacks in mobs.

EDIT: Updated Beastie (This is the only part of the creature I meant to create, the other thing was something I grabbed off of the Monster boards, just copy and pasting ideas over the original powers. This is what I have now, with suggestions from others incorporated.

I like howl of the hunt, but mechanically it doesn't do a ton. Change it to 'each other fast zombie within 5 squares may shift 5 squares, but only in the direction of the target.' That way, it mechanically has the effect, beyond the howl, which is, at least now... mostly fluffy.

AngeloftheNight, I just found some errors with your post here

First, havcing them migrate, form a nation, and worship you is 3PP, not 2.

And opening trade relations requires a guide, or MS interaction to that effect. Not nourishes.

One final technicality. I beleive the Drahkorn are stranded in their home. The artifact which gave them access to the world opens on Drahthor's will. Without him directing it, they have no way to go back and forth.
#68

angelofthenight

Aug 15, 2009 16:53:50
The Drahkorn are already in trade with the Imperium and Free Nation, that was merely fluff behind the nourishes. I'll change the PP. As to the artifact, the Drahkorn are proving almost more trouble than they're worth.:P

Alright, I'll change the Fast Zombie to skirmisher. Any more word on creating a game based in Terena?

Here's what I'm thinking for an encounter with Iyelle:

Iyelle, Level 16 controller (leader) elite
4 Flesh Puppets, Level 12 minion
2 Shadowspawn, Level 13 lurker.

The encounter could take place in a lab where a half-dissected gnome is on a rack. Two dead humites with bloody wounds all over are hanging from hooks. Alchemical materials line the walls. To make the encounter interesting, there could also be a death wisp in a jar (which would actually help PCs since death wisps won't help the undead.

Of course it would be up to the DM. Whoever is up for DMing

Topheh, could you give me some information on the Mournelord. Like what exactly he is capable of, and his goals?

Well, its saturday, so I'm gonna officially close off the voting for restarting. Votes are 7 for restarting, 2 for not restarting... so thats fairly clear. Votes are 5 for restarting in a month or so, 2 for restarting immediately.

With the boards going down, it might be a good time for everyone to take a good hard look at the game while its not... there... and think about things you want to change. Come up with a few constructive suggestions, and then when the boards return, or even sooner (I'm thinking we can have some sort of IRC chat or start a thread on another forum somewhere) we can start sitting down and working on the rules for the next game without the time pressure of wanting to get a rough set of rules out so we can start playing and then realizing a few months in that the issues we wanted to address were, well... handled badly.

Mecha, I'll be DMing. I'm already starting to form the adventures in my head... I just have to write them all down. I hope it works I'll of course take encounters from other people... less work for me is awesome. At the moment, due to the richness of Terena, I'm hoping to get at least 4 separate adventures out of it... perhaps more, depending on how creative I am the week we're off.

As for the Mournelord... motivation is easy. He's ****** and wants revenge. He just really wants to bring New Terena down with him, burning and doomed like before, although finding a way to restore his own body would be nice, seeing that he does currently possess an artifact that is granting him eternal, if tormented, life. As for physical stats and capabilities... Well, some of this will have to do with what a normal Mournelord can do... which is sorta what I'm hoping Angel will be able to tell us, but at the moment... he has strong psychic abilities, forcibly willing an avatar of himself to appear and give commands... he can reach out and touch the minds of those in the city... and he's clearly scary enough that the vampires haven't tried to kill him... at least not yet.

I like your plan for the start of the next game. As to the Mournelord, perhaps we should do the fight in two phases. In the first, PCs fight their way into his room, and face him incarnated in another Vampires body. Or, if you wanna go really creepy, you could bring the wife that the Imperium dumped in the Waste out for him to possess. This form would grant him considerable melee power. Once he reaches bloodied, his spirit leaves the body, and the tomb begins phasing in and out of the Astral Plane, while he attacks with arcane abilities. I have no current idea how to implement all this, but I'll try to have the basics up in the next few days.

Hey shadow.. sorry, just saw this. I didn't guide all Illithid into The Well- just some of them. What would you say to including a few Rakshasa from The Well in your "underground competition"? A little factionalization might make for good plot hooks later.

Aug 16, 2009 11:54:59
Hey, Ekluag...

Slight problem with your post. Old Terena is literally underneath New Terena, so there are no 'ruins' to speak of, at least that people know about. For all the Terenans know, Old Terena is completely buried beneath them, although instead it lives on in a pale, undead shadow of itself underneath a hardened dome upon which New Terena sits. There's also no really good way to get into Old Terena... although somehow those crazy undead keep getting in. If the people living directly above the seething pit of undead don't know about it (The Mournelorde is being very careful), I find it somewhat hard to believe that the Warforged have gotten enough wind of it to actually pinpoint the location and find entrances

So... yeah... either your post will need to be modified, or you're gonna have some very confused humites wondering why the warforged want to poke around in their basements. :D Not to say that you can't have them poking around in their basements... I'd say to have them start killing off undead making their way to Old Terena, rather than killing off the ones in the city itself. Perhaps you could find the well-hidden tunnels that they are using into the city, and that could be a starting point for adventure!

Edit: Actually, no. If you could have them poking around in the Terenan's basements, that would be awesome. Shadow's already volunteered an excellent end to the adventures, and the Warforged will create a lovely lead-in.

An Aside: Thanks everyone for contributing to Old Terena. I find it awesome as well

AngeloftheNight, some problems with your last post.

Who are the Exemplars of Insanity? I have no record of such an organization existing.

Second, you have already spawned Quells, 6 turns ago. I notice you intend to stat them up, and I'm going to throw this out there for you. 4th edition design does not target individual power sources with penalties. There are no anti-magic effects, and a quell's primary ability was to cut off divine casting, something that is an inappropriate design. You may be able to find a flavorful way to mimic it without specifically targetting divine sourced powers, but I just wanted to toss that out there.
#88

Topheh

Aug 16, 2009 14:52:53
Eh... not too many ruins, really. Unless the Terenans built really tall buildings

Convincer was filled in on the atrocities that had occured here. Bending his head in grief, he bade the Imperium escorts to leave the city, telling them that the rest of the allies' army was nearly there, and they might not be able to separate in their minds their feelings for the one who did this and those still standing here over him. As they left, he took up his staff, and raised it above his head before slamming it to the ground, right next to the Mournelord's face. Earth immediately began covering the ruins of the city, rising higher and higher until under Eorna's still gleaming branches, a hill of dirt was all that could be seen.

Regardless, the important part is that the undead are all underground, ruins or no (Mecha, if you want some ruins to have been carried by the dirt upwards in the center of town, thats just fine by me.)

Ekluag, you'll see where I go with the basement inspectors ;) (Also, replied in MS)

As for the Quells... the Divine-specific effects don't exist yet, but I could imagine a way to make it work for a bunch of undead. Create an aura around each Quell that protects undead in the vicinity from the effects of turn/rebuke undead... that being the general reason why divine classes are so scary for the undead.

Xeadin-
There are problems with your post. I'm gonna point them out as we go.

Both Torvek and Dolestre fly through the Skyway River, and onto Azora, where Corelloth sits in wait.

~Okay, Azora is an island, and the Skyway river is nowhere near it. Its a part of the river on the main continent. It certainly is not in the sky.
thisisfine

"Aha! I've been waiting for this moment..." She smirks, as Torvek and Dolestre land on the island with a thud- wepons on hand.

"Now we can end this little game of charades!" Torvek smiles, as he rears to attack.

"Not so fast, darling!" Corelloth pulls an unusual move, and with a quick flick of her wrist, a spark of purple lightning shoots out- straight a Torvek. It hits it mark, and saps his powers. "You didn't expect that now, did you?"

Torvek falls over, weakened from the attack. "Torvek!"

First, the underdark has never been cared out that far south. It's under the main continent, and Nerdzul expanded it under his archipelago. Nobody ever extended all the way into the deep south.

Heh heh, just kidding, I would have been one of the people to suggest starting again Smile Anyway, not sure if I should jump back in if things are drawing to a close.. aside from creating another three types of Scourge dragons there's nothing in particular I have left to do... aside from maybe making the genasi a bustling mercantile nation, but that might bustle with the idea of Ardune being a savage land.

Anyway, as for the big finale, I'm not sure if it has to be particularily big... I mean, the idea is to create a world for players to adventure in, and usually all the big crisises happen significantly before the default time for campaigning... then again, considering how quickly time moves, that might be a mute point Tongue out

Heya tought, nice to see you back around here ;)

I think that we will make a LoC 3 rules discussion post soon enough (maybe in the Lord of Creation group, btw ask Topheh for an invite there). Any help would be quite useful :p

#126

And you're in.

As for the new LoC rules hashing... I'm thinking of having those in the group forum... that way we can split each topic into a separate thread and hash things out in paralell instead of in sequence.  What do people think?

Name: Ashralan
Domain: Ocean, Sharks,
Physical Appearance: A large male sahuagin riding a golden shark.
Symbol: A golden shark tooth.

I'm not sure if that is to many domains or not enough. Please feel free to change this but I would like to keep a bit of shark/ocean flavor. Sahuagin is a domain that I made up. It's lesser.

#130

Topheh

Aug 28, 2009 12:26:55

Hi Aboleth11, welcome to the game!

Yeah, Those are a few too many domains.  Water would be a greater domain already (so 3PP already)... Oceans would be moderate (2) and sharks and sahuguin would both be lesser (1).  So thats... 7 Starting domain PP and you're limited to 3 for free.  My advice would be to get rid of water, take oceans and one of the lesser, and then spend one of your first 6 PP claiming the other lesser domain.

Also, another note... we're winding down this Lords of Creation at the moment, and it has maybe another 2 or three weeks left in it.  If you want to join now, you're more than welcome, just be aware that your god won't really be able to get very far off the ground.  LoC3 should be starting soon after this one finishes, though... and then we'll all be new godlings in the big world

Mecha:  No idea.  You sure you didn't subscribe and forget about it?

Sep 01, 2009 12:13:28

I have little time to write anything and my ideas seem to have deserted me today, so I'm gifting my PP this turn..

2PP to Veros

2PP to Hensen

2PP to Kiptar (this counts the admin award I had this turn... if I can't transfer that then make it 1PP)

In addition, any god who wishes can use either Create portal in the Place Between Places to form a new permanent portal (inside TPBP) at any time, on this and any following turn. I want TPBP to attract more races and people, not just my own.

AngelofthenNight, I just caught this. You can't "Spawn Heroic Populace - Salamanders".

First, Populaces are not spawned
Second, Salamanders are Paragon.

#151

nerdzul

Sep 01, 2009 17:45:07

he can make them as monster (spawn beasts) or a custom heroic populace I think. However I guess that we have seen the last actions from Vymrl.

#152

ff6shadow

Sep 01, 2009 18:23:46

Going to need clarification from him on it. Even if he makes it a spawn, it's paragon unless he's going full custom on it.

Also, I wouldn't count on that. No PP was spent to Imprison Vymrl for a reason. Angel wants to clean some things up with his exarchs before he's done for this game.

#153

ff6shadow

Sep 01, 2009 19:59:26

Aboleth11,  1 PP is not enough to remove the worship of Vymrl from the Sahuagin.  It would take 2 PP, and to top it off, since his worship was through the Bronze Pantheon, you'd also be removing worship of the following gods: Kiptar, Empress, Hensen Jijou, Hammu, Drahthor, and Azor'Chapien

I don't think you want to go about ticking off so many powerful gods by removing their worship from the Sahuagin.

As for Topheh calling it the Deep, that's because the Deep is an existing demi-plane, not your Great Ocean.

Topheh

I'm sorry shaddow, I was writing PP expenditures right before starting pre-cal homework at 9:30 PM.  Anyway, as long as Aradiea is fine with it, the polite fiction that Vymrl was imprisoned will remain.  All further PP spent will be flavored as through his exarchs.  And I'll change that expenditure, I originally intened it is a beast, but that works.  Will you be okay with me merely subtracting a PP from this turn? btw, what is the keyword for Populous's, I though it was spawn?

#158

Sep 04, 2009 22:58:32

Xeadin, here is your public service announcement. I beleive you missed this post, made by Tinwe several days ago, involving Correloth.

Before Dolestre could reach Torvek, Corelloth flaps her wings and pushes both of them out towards the water. "Now, I shall continue what is planned!" She uses the stolen energy, and the small flame on the sand erupts into a fury of violet energy, that seems to expand rapidly towards the main town. All of a sudden, the energy roars upward into a spiraling pillar- towards the Skyway River. Corelloth appears from the roaring energy. "Let this be a lesson to both of you- if you tend to try and ruin my plans, I shall have both of your heads! Mark my words!" And with that, she disappears in a ball of violet flame.

A tendril of purple flame threaded its way along the Skyway River, and curled into the space of the Place Between Places. Hammu stared at it, watching as the flame flickered through the air. He could sense that great power lay at its source- furthermore, he could sense that something had upset the Balance once again. "Corelloth. She's back, and once again she threatens my creation! How many times has she threatened Beacon, and now she intrudes into my own sanctuary?! Enough of this!"

Hammu turned towards the Courts. There was something there... something that might help in this situation. A breeze flowed through the great doors of the Courts, and dust lifted from the large skeletons within. Some form of insect lifted its head out of the damaged ribcage of one bony heap, and the skeletons creaked to their feet. With a motion of his hand, Hammu beckoned them to his side, took the Hammer of Law in hand, and then he opened The Zenith and stepped through into Azora.

Hammu paid the distraught dragons no heed, but bent immediately to the scent of Corelloth. "She's got no place to hide.. she can't have gone far. I'll just follow her disarderly trail until I find her!" Some time later, Hammu cornered Corelloth in her lonely hideaway. He motioned the skeletons forward "These creations are... distasteful, but they are nothing if not tools of Balance. As they Balanced Yoglith, so they will Balance you, Corelloth."

Swarms of Pyreflies were evident now, crawling from the cavities of the skeletons. They flared bright in the dim light, and buzzed hungrily as they closed in on Corelloth. It was over quickly. As the skeletons slumped, their work complete for now, Hammu knelt beside the corpse that now flickered with a slowly burning purple fire and retrieved a Pyrefly. He sent the insect on its way to Veros with a message.

"Lord of Knowledge. I've something that belongs to you, in a way, and something that you should see. "

Sep 05, 2009 17:12:42

Yeah, Xeadin, that's not really much good either. Correlloth has a combat modifier of 1. Hammu effectively attacked her with a combat modifier of 2 (the two skeletons). Coirreloth can't just 'shrug off' the damage. At best, she can limp away injured when we leave. At worste, Hammu might decide that he wants to skin her for boots.

Ekluag
A bunch of rodents don't have the power to negate the inherent properties of a planar effect. It's like trying say that enough ice can out out a portion of the Elemental Plane of Fire. It's not a radiating effect that is altering the landscpe. The landscpae itself causes the decay and death. If you took a large stone from the Gray Wastes and moved it elsewhere, it would still be just as vile and detrimental to life. A bottle of the Gray Wastes air, taken to the far side of the world, and inhaled, would still physically weaken you when you inhaled it, and make you more vulnerable to sickness and disease.

#167

ekluag

Sep 06, 2009 5:22:32

I didn't think that they are negating it, just reducing the effect. I realize that they cannot negate it in any way, but I wanted to do something that would make it possibly easier to  be in the Grey Wastes. What I envisioned was that if enough, say several hundered where in an area at once, it might be just slightly more livable. How would I do that?

While on the topic, I know they are an artifact, but how many PP is the Grey Wastes?

Xeadin, just a heads up, Chroma is currently depressed and more or less ignoring everything around him. So even if your exarch comes across him in the Chaos, he'll just ignore them unless they something first or pretty much demand his attention. And even then there's a good chance he'd try to Decreate Exarch... he can lash out when he gets mopey.

#182

#183

AnubisDread

Well... aside from the fact Corelloths meddling in the Chaos has tainted it with evil, a bunch of dragons just sent about half of the planes vital energy into the material world to completely decimated the Imperium, causing an uncountable number of deaths and irreparable damage to the plane. Considering that Chroma considers the plane a living, breathing entity and his mother besides...

I was going to shape them this turn, as lesser kin to the Death titans, but I'm not complaining about that (I can find somethingelse to do easily enough). Is invalid. It never occured. You only have 4PP per turn, all of which has been spent. You did not have the 3 PP you tried to spend there. Further, even if you did have it, Mold Land only creates land, nothing on it. Anything on it has to be added seperately. All players should ignore this post and act as if it never happened.

I've waited as long as I can for confirmation one way or another on this matter. With absolutely nothing explaining the PP expenditure for the creation of Death Giants, I have to treat it as an attempt to store PP. As that is not allowed, this action will be ignored.

Xeadin, you losing track of your PP has absolutely nothing to do with the state of this LoC, and everytrhing to do with the fact that, as far as I can tell, you don'ty understand the game. Further, are you trying to import your hombrew world into the game? Because, as a point of fact, as far as LoC is concerned, your homebrew world does not exist.

Turn 55 begins now. 13,750 years have elapsed since the beginning of existence.

PP Refresh
8 - Veros (37%)
7 -
6 - Hensen Jijou (90%), The Empress (72%), Shurka (57%), Vymrl (53%), Nixis (25%), Kiptar (04%)

The percentage shows how close you are to arriving at the next level of PP.

That is my point, Xeadin. You don't seem to understand the purpose of LoC. The goal is not to import your own campaign into the world. The point is to make something new by working cooperatively with the other players, not to simply import your own personal campaign setting into the world.

AnubisDread

I'm imagine that throwing that much energy from it as a weapon would cause some damage, even if it's completely fluff... there's no real mechanical change to the plane, with the exception of the creation of the slaad and the Chaos Rift in Ardune which was in the process of being made anyway. As long as it's strictly fluff or has mechanical backing I don't see why we can't just say some damage has been done, even if only Chroma is actually connected enough to it to see it. Or he's just imagining it completely, whatever floats your boat Wink

Elves yes, half-elves are half-elves so creating them is kind of like creating a mule or labrador kelpy cross, kobolds about a week or so ago actually, I'm surprised you didn't read that.

Not sure about the drow actually. Hobgoblins I think have been done, but if so they haven't been used much. Gith I'm almost 100% sure haven't been done, but you might one to check with someone who's been here since the beginning or read all of the thread.

Should I create a completely new and unusual race, and provide fluff with it?

I would like to create a race for the Mortal Stories...

AnubisDread

I would seriously suggest you don't do drow even if someone hasn't created it yet. Having the drow segregate from the elves/eladrin is such a huge part of their default fluff that just poofing them into existence for no reason seems... wasteful.

A new and unusual race would work well too, but remember that you shouldn't just create populaces for the hell of it, you should do it to create interesting cultures that play a part in the world. At least that's how I feel, I suppose you can create them for any reason really ^_^;

Eh... I wasn't really going toward Tree People, although the Dryads would make for a nice touch... More of like a race of beings that use the terrain to their advantage- somewhat like the Na'vi from Avatar (On Sci-Fi).

I'd call the race the Naragese- a race of humanoids that resemble humans, but their devotion to the wilderness have made them true woodsmen and harness the powers of nature to their advantage- their main class would be the Druid.

And on that note, two other things.

3.  Why in the world would I make up what I found on the wiki?  Did you even try to use the search bar?

lordsofcreation.wikia.com/wiki/PP_Expend... has the record of Spiretop Drakes being created by Xirinet way back in april

4.  Reading your post, and your PP expenditure list, I'm noticing that a) you are using your exarch's abilities twice, when they only have 1 PP worth of energy to contribute on any given turn.  That second time you use each of them needs to come from your own PP.  b)  It won't be an issue once a) is addressed, but Exarchs provide only one type of PP.  You have one of your exarchs providing both spawn and guide PP.  c)  You have 3-exarch generated PP going towards spawning creatures.  You can only spend 1 Exarch PP on any one type of action each turn.  So if Hondala is spawn and Terascul is guide, you can spend each of those and then 2 of your PP the other two spawns.  If they are both spawns, you can only use one of them, and will need to spend 3 of your own PP.

Yeah- I don't post in order- I post in groups, so that I can keep track of who's doing what.

And is there a map of the prime world? Because if there is, I would like to see it.

Okay- I made the change.

#232

Topheh

Sep 14, 2009 17:58:26

Xeadin, I'm sorry if I sounded rude, but you've said before that things aren't on the wiki when I've told you they are...  I think I let some other issues I've been having in RL creep in.  Just... try searching next time... odds are every creation isn't ever going to get its own page.  Most of them would look like "spiretop drake:  Just like in the Monster Manual.  Live in Alexandria."  The PP page, if a few turns behind, is definitely the place to go if you want to know whats been made or not.  It has everything thats had PP spent on it.  And I promise I'll get it caught up eventually.

As for your post... its still not working... let me see if I can make myself clearer...

So, the laws governing how you can spend the PP that your Exarchs and Artifacts produce on a basic level boil down to this.  You can use up to 4 PP a turn from Exarchs or Artifacts.  Each Exarch and Artifact at its time of creation needs to be given a specific type of PP that it produces.  And the last rule is that you can't use 2 of the same type of artifact/exarch in a turn.  So, using my exarchs/artifacts as examples... I have 5 PP producing exarchs and artifacts:

Chukwa, my Zaratan Exarch that provides nourish PP

Convincer, my Gnome Exarch that provides guide PP

Enoch, my Animate Book Exarch that provides nourish PP

The Astral Shard, an artifact that provides Create PP

The Staff of Earth, an artifact that provides Mold PP

As you see, thats 5 PP producers, two of which are nourish Exarchs.

On my turn, I can use 4 of those.  So often I will have Chukwa or Enoch (not both) nourish a group they are with, the staff of earth create a mountain somewhere, Convincer tell a group of people to go explore somewhere else, and the Astral Shard to make some sort of artifact.  When I need to, I RP that I am 'feeding power into the Astral Shard' for instance, to use its 1 PP and my own 1 PP to create a combat artifact, for instance.

So, lets say I give away one of my Aritfacts for a time, like my Staff of Earth, which is currently being used by one of Vymrl's Exarchs (Are you still needing that, Angel?)

Now I have 4 PP producing Exarchs/Artifacts, yet I can only use 3, as two of them... Enoch and Chukwa, both provide nourish PP, so I cannot use them during the same turn.

In your post, you are using two exarchs to both spawn a creature, which, like my 2 nourish Exarchs, is not allowable by the rules.

Your original post had 3 spawns and 2 guides.  Assuming that Hondala is Spawn and Terascul is Guide, a proper spending of PP for those actions would look like this

1 PP:  Spawn creature(lesser):  Beavers.

1 PP-Hondala:  Spawn Creature(lesser):  Needlefang Drake

1 PP:  Spawn Creature(lesser): Seacat

1 PP-Terascul:  Guide Creature:  Needlefang Drakes form into swarms.

This way, your exarchs are only spending their PP once each, and they are doing different things.  It leaves you with 2 PP to use for the rest of the turn.  I hope this helps

Nerdzul- Yes, I'd love a MS for the Yoglid new-island... but I needed my Beholders to be a little further along than they are, and now I find my PP diverted to dealing with a certain war in the heavens.  Give me another turn or so and I'll try and get them to the point that I was wanting to start it at.

#233

ff6shadow

Sep 14, 2009 19:18:35

We'll top it of with one worse. Xeadin, you're exarchs don't produce PP at all. According tomy records, no PP type was specified at their creation. So all your exarchs aregood for is RP and combat bonuses.

#234

Xeadin

Sep 14, 2009 19:50:23

Yes- thanks Topheh!

ff6shadow- Right- I forgot about that... Hondala is the only Exarch that produces PP- Dolestre and Terascul are the RPers (Though I don't use Terascul all that much- is there a way to get rid of an Exarch?). Hondala doesn't fight, so there is no need for her to be a Combat Exarch. I specifically created her to produce pp. She'll be the Spawner... now, what to do with the other exarches that will soon be created...

So, Only Artifacts or Exarches per turn can use 1pp each- using a specific command for each Artifact/ Exarch- to a total of 4 or however much pp the god has, right? Well, I only have 1 pp-producing Exarch, and that's Hondala... time to make more pp producing Exarches/ Artifacts! ... as soon as I get more pp... Undecided

Well, I'm just gonna go with Beavers then...

No, the 4 PP is a hard rule.  You have 4 normal PP and up to 4 artifact PP.  I have 6 normal PP and up to 4 artifact PP.

As for your latest post, theres no reason you can't make it work, you just have to spend your own PP on it.  You had 4 actions of 1 PP each, you have 4 PP of your own to spend, so you can just spend all of that PP and have 0 until tomorrow's reset... which, honestly, sounds good to me

If you want, you can even say that its hondala, etc doing the actions, but as long as your record it as your PP being spent, its all good.

Hey, quick request at Chapien: do you mind if we leave the slaad and Azorians as is? War is a lot more interesting for PC's, and if it's basically a cold war where the knights can't invade because of the elemental energy, and the slaad can't do much more than sneak past the fortress to attack the odd outlieing villages (which could be PC inhabited), it opens up hundreds of hooks to lure in adventurers to the conflict.

I'll probably assume Mara shows up then. As for the rift, if you want to prevent his exiting back through the river, you can as it is your plane, and Chukwa is only an exarch. However, as an exarch, if you aren't actively trying toprevent his passage, then he can reopen it, yes.

Xeadin
No, there are no special rules regarding the molding of land within a plane, othert than it cannot effect things beyond the plane, costs no PP, and provides no benefit.

So, you can mold land within the plane at-will, but it provides no benefit other than that it's just there. I can live with that- and it makes sense too...

Otherwise, I have to spend pp if I want to mold land outside of the plane that has its own benefits.

I'm just curious (and maybe I asked this), but can an Exarch spend its own pp just like a normal character would without having the character taking it (basically having the Exarch use its powers for RP purposes on their own? And if so, how much pp do they have? 1 or 2pp?)

#247

Topheh

Sep 15, 2009 17:59:16

What shadow means is that mold land actions outside of your plane (that you pay for) have an effect on the amount of PP you get at the start of each turn.  If you make a mountain for free in your own plane, however, that doesn't help you get closer to the next PP.

As for Exarchs... They have however much PP you want to give them.  If you have something you want your Exarch to do that costs 1 PP and is tied to its keyword, then you just RP them doing that.

Example:  Chukwa breathed life onto the dead earth, and it flourished.

Thats my Exarch using 1 PP to nourish the land (he's a nourish Exarch).

Alternatly, Sometimes Convincer (my guide Exarch) will need to teach a race something for 2 PP.  So I RP him doing so:

Example:  Convincer looked with pity on the Ooompaloompahs and taught them chocolate manufacturing.

Thats a 2 PP action, but convincer only provides 1 PP.  The other PP comes from my personal stash.  So if I did that this turn, I'd have 5 PP out of 6 PP left and have used up COnvincer's power for the turn.

Alternatly, sometimes I have my Exarch use one of my Artifacts.  For instance, for many turns, Convincer had fallen under the mental control of the Mournelord and used both his own power, the astral shard and the staff of earth to do the mournelord's will.  Again, perfectly fine.

So, in summary:  Your Exarchs have however much PP you want to give them to do their action.  THey have 1 of their own plus... anything else you want to give for that turn.  And no, you don't have to explicitly give that PP in a "Nixis gave convincer an extra PP" action... the PP is just a check to make sure that you and your representatives (your exarchs and artifacts) use, in sum, an appropriate amount of power each turn.

Yeah- I don't see how creating a mountain would help you gain any experience at all, unless you mold it with your own pp. And what do you mean by "Having an effect on the amount of pp that I get at the start of each turn?" Does that mean I get an extra temporary pp for the next reset (Temporary as in not affecting how much total pp I actually get each reset)?

As for Exarchs... They have however much PP you want to give them.  If you have something you want your Exarch to do that costs 1 PP and is tied to its keyword, then you just RP them doing that.

So in a sense, you can give them however much pp you want to have them run an action- that's within their boundaries- for instance Mold or Guide or Nourish. What about combat exarches? Do they still spend 1pp on a determined action- Create or Mold or Nourish, etc?

#250

Topheh

Sep 15, 2009 18:51:48

Surely you've noticed how I started at 4 PP a turn and am now at 6 PP, yes?  Thats what I mean.  Your actions go into a formula that determines your 'power' in the world, and how much PP you get per turn.  If you make a mountain, that counts.  But if you make a mountain in your own plane for free, then it doesnt, because otherwise I'd make 20 billion mountains and get to 4000 PP/turn with ease.

As for the Exarchs, within or not within their boundaries.  If you really want your guide exarch to do something to nourish a populace, even though thats not something that defines him (as he *is* a guide exarch), you can do that... just in that case, you can't use your exarchs guide PP to actuate the nourish, you have to use your own.  So, I might do the following.

Convincer saw what a bad state the warforged were in.  He went to them and healed their wounds, brightening their spirits.  Then he taught them how to heal each others wounds.

So here Convincer is doing two things.  The first is a nourish action.  He's healing them and restoring a bit of the warforged's strength to their nation.  That would be denoted

1 PP:  Nourish Populace: Warforged.   Note that Convincer's PP is not being used here.  He's a guide exarch, not a nourish exarch.

Then, he teaches them to help themselves, a guide action.  Thats 2 PP, so it woud look like this.

2PP (1 from Convincer): Guide Populace: Warforged learn Cleric.

So here, Convincer CAN provide a PP of his own (as its a guide action and he is a guide exarch) while the other PP again comes from my personal stash.  So, in the end, I have 4 out of 6 PP remaining and have spent Convincer's PP.

Combat Exarchs don't provide PP.  Rather they provide a combat bonus to you.  As such, they don't have a PP of their own to spend, but you can, of course, still have them do an action as long as it comes from your general stash.  So, lets say I had an exarch named... Smasher mcSmashington, a combat Exarch.  I could post the same thing I did above with convincer, but instead of the guide action being '2 PP (1 from convincer)', as mcSmashington has no PP to give, it would just be '2PP' and I would have 3 out of my original 6 PP left to spend for the turn.

Bleh! Everything that I create has been created already! What's up with that? Okay- time to check the timeline!

So, Ythrexle (Moondoggy) created the Couatls...

Time to mass edit my last post then. Laughing

I haven't forgotten, MassiveAttack- I'd have to spend an extra pp if the plane is not connected somehow to the Skyway River. Daelgar is connected to the Skyway River, so no worries there... Wink

Otherwise, I'd be freaking out, because I don't have 5pp per turn to spend... Foot in mouth

Question- In the Mortal Stories, do we get to roleplay as any living creature that has been created, or only as the creatures that our god had created? I'm kind of curious about the Azorans and whatnot...

Xeadin, I think you should restrict yourself to things you yourself control, either because you created them, or because you caused them to worship you in the MS. It is somewhat rude to play with other peoples' stuff without their permission.

No worries. I was just asking. Having an intelligent race worship you is a Guide action, right?

I won't have the Azorans or the Humites worship Torvek. Feel free to have the Dracos worship you guys. I have plenty to go around. Smile

I would like to RP as a different race, but I can't do that unless- a) I create more races, or- b) Use Guide action(s).

Actually, for the most part, MS is co-op. I could, you know, send some Azorans over to your continent (provided it isn't TOO far away) and we could MS together.

Unless I should make it on the Prime lands...

The Ae-Silvani are currently at 0 nourishes. Only their base populace (3) remains.

Just to be sure, if the base was treated at nourishes would they be below 3 or are they exactly at 3?  Again, I am fairly certain that I split the outer and inner world Ae Sylvani with a guide but can't remember.  If I did I think it make sense to say the outerworld ones have just been genocided out (and keep the base three with the inner ones who have not been involved).

To Xeadin: mortals can travel through the Skyway River, but it is not easy and would be pretty epic.  First, you have to get your mortals into the river and from the prime material plane this means both finding the river and getting in (it's much easier from the planes).  Also, you need a vessel or ship.  Then, there are the various ways it interacts with the planes, for example in the Workshop the water is split up into piping and sewers so anything big may have a bit of a problem.

#270

Xeadin

Sep 16, 2009 23:26:43

Well, It's a darn good thing that I have a big ocean in my plane. The travellers would have a bit of a fall, but they can get back to the River no problem. There is access to and from the River to and from Daelgar.

#271

I've never seen anything directly splitting them, Massive. I did forget their age bonus though, which is 5.  And that is an exact 3, yes.

If you want to run it as the outer aether Ae-Silvani genocided by war and disease, that is fine though.

Can I create a deity who lacks a physical apearance, and is rather just a conciousness with deific powers? Would a domain over a lack of physical embodiment be expressed as a domain of incorporeality or is there a better domain for such a concept? Would such a domain be lesser, moderate, or greater? Many things are incorporeal, but it is still a rather specific concept, which would lead me to think moderate, but what do you think? Do I need to wait for a current deity to ascend me? Can my holy symbol be a lack of a holy symbol? I want for any symbol used to describe my diety to be a kind of hubris that is frowned upon, as the true believers of my faith know no symbol is apropriate for a god of all things not-physical. They would pray by putting on blindfolds, eliminating the physical world around them, which is as close to a symbol as I would want it to get.

I'll post my stat block soon as my questions are answered.

I can only think of one problem with your concept, namely that you'll have a hard time having clerics using their holy symbols in your name when you don't have a symbol, but... beyond that fluffy problem, I don't see why not.  However, as Nerdzul said, we're about to wrap this instance of LoC up and start a new one.  Update on that... we're finalizing all the rules and such now.  Look for a completed version hopefully by this time next week, then we can seriously set a start date for LoC3.  Hooray!

As for the Age bonus... I talked with Shadow for a while earlier and managed to figure out the system we use to determine the viability of a race/nation.

It takes into account three different things:  Type of race (heroic, paragon, epic), length that civilization has been around (based on some formula I don't know... I know the Ae-sylvani have an age of 5 (and, being one of the first races, thats high up there) while the Children have an age of 1.  And finally, as would be expected, nourishes.

Base+Nourishes+Age = A group's viability.  If it drops to 0, then the group is effectively eradicated.  For instance, Shadow told me that the frost giants are at negative nourishes right now, and actually are only surviving as a race that exists outside the imperium and children nations due to their substancial age in the game.

You learn new things every day ;)

Yes apparently we do hehe,

Nice rule btw, however I guess we should make that rule public too on the wiki (expecially if we wants to keep in LoC 3 and in that case we will need a discussion like every other topic) to avoid confusion hehe...

Well, I was inspired a bit by the Assassin who uses Ki Focuses as their impliments instead of a physical impliment. Would it be too far fetched to think of a divine character who used a Ki Focus in place of a holy symbol? As they worship the ethereal, couldn't they have an ethereal holy symbol? One every bit as much real as a physical holy symbol, minus the physical part.

I think I will wait until LoC3 to start playing, but it's good to get the kinks out of the character beforehand.

That doesn't work, Xeadin. The Skyway River, while being a river in name, is not the safest thing to sail on. . . . and is unsailable in some areas. It's probably sailable in you're plane and Mechanus, but I know for a fact that you couldn't sail it through the Workshop (maybe a canoe, if you took the right passages), or the Well of Time, and sailing the Elemental Chaos section is probably suicidal.

Of course, even if it worked, you're people couldn't sail it anyways.

True, unless the Dracos learn how to craft canoes and small boats- that means using the Guide/ Teach action, right?

But connecting two different planes is a different story...

ff6shadow- do you think it is legible to create a portal from your home plane and connect it to another world- without spending pp (treating it as though it was a 1pp artifact)?

Oh, and Xeadin... one thing to clear up...

Having the skyway river float through the sky in your plane is fine... your plane, your placement of the branch of the river... however in no other place is the skyway river actually... you know... in the sky.  Its just a normal river on the prime, the workshop, Mechanus, what have you.  I'm sure its a little bizzare in the chaos, so I won't touch that... but... beyond that, its just a name, from way back when when Xa'an decided to mess with Mara a bit and Mara turned it to her own advantage.

Just an FYI

#300

ff6shadow

Sep 19, 2009 8:27:37

No. There is no way for anyone not invited to know what is being talked about, even via domain knowledge, unless you are actually inside the plane (which requires an invite now). A gods plane is immune to domain knowledge. So stop meta-gaming Xeadin. You don't know what's going on, and all you're sudden talk about the gods leaving is just that - meta-gaming. If it continues, it can and will result in a PP penalty.

To Topheh and Chapien:

I think that Chroma set loose the Slaadi upon the Azorans, but your gods didn't know about Corelloth setting the pillar on Azora- which is perfect, ecause the mystery still continues for you guys.

Only Hammu knows who had done it... well, maybe Hammu- he didn't know that Corelloth set the pillar on Azora. He knew that Corelloth was threatening Beacon, so he followed her... which reminds me...

MassiveAttack: You couldn't possibly follow Corelloth without you knowing where she had actually gone. We need to talk about it more... I have a big problem with that...

#302

ff6shadow

Sep 19, 2009 17:04:00

Let me start with the problems in your post, Xeadin

1) The Flame Pillar isn't in the ocean. It's in the Great Sea, another gods plane. If Corelloth wnats it back, she's gonna have to go in and get it.

2) The Skyway River is not in the sky above Azora. Even if it were, how is Corelloth drawing power from an artifact/plane controller by another god. Unless you have MassiveAttack's okay, that is not okay.

3) As for you're OOC post here, I don't beleive Topheh or Chapien said anything about a purple dragon or Corelloth. If you're going to suggest metagaming, atleast point at a real case. Topheh clearly said, and I quote "was whoever put that burning pillar on your land."

4) And where are you seeing MassiveAttack mentioning Mara was following Corelloth?

#303

Topheh

Sep 19, 2009 17:07:21

They know that they found Torvek next to the pillar, and they blamed you for it... so, I don't think they're talking Correloth at the moment.

Yes, of course Chroma is the one making the Slaad, but correct, we do not know that.  We just know a threat has been made against the Azorans and the last time that happened, Torvek was involved.

And a few other things...

1)  The pillar of flame is now on a completely different plane, and miles below the surface.  I'm sure that its not visible from above the water in another plane.

2)  Again, the skyway river is not in the sky above Azora.

3)  Honassia is gonna have a REALLY tough time getting in to see the two of us (I'm Nixis, by the way, not Topheh ;)), seeing that even other Gods are being locked out.

The answer is simple, Xeadin.

Azora is not linked to the Great Sea, true. But gods can go anywhere, anytime, in the blink of an eye, as long as there isn't another god preventing them, even to other planes. So, we went to the Great Sea, dumped it there, left, and that was the end of it.

#306

Xeadin

Sep 19, 2009 17:31:38

Hey, Chapien- AnubisDread: While I'm thinking about it, I was thinking about a template to apply to some of the Slaadi and some of the Azorans from Corelloth's Dark Cannon she had set up. The template would be called Dark touched- a result of massive amounts of dark energy that coagulates inside organic tissue and changes the physical parameters of any living being into a creature of raw darkness.

Do you guys agree with this? I don't want to kill any Azorans or Slaadi- yet. I just want to see how this plays out...

This would recquire the presence of Torvek, obviously- since she can't use any of her own pp...

By the way... Topheh, ff6shadow- When will the next reset occur?

I fished out the post in the IC thread.

Nixis reached back his hand, letters blurring into a blade of  ready to strike Torvek, when he realized something odd.  The pillar, for all its impressiveness, was not actually burning.  Instead, the flames merely danced atop the grasses of Azora.

Curious, Nixis left the prone form of Torvek and floated into the flames, eventually finding the core of the pillar, a small purple flame.  Reaching into it, he grimaced for a moment in discomfort, then, with a fluid motion, picked up the entire pillar of fire and threw it into the ocean, where it sank, still burning as the flames appeared to give off light, but not heat.  Nixis watched for a long moment as it floated deeper and deeper into the ocean, then turned back to the other two gods.

"This Torvek always seems to be threatening something or someone.  I'm surprised he didn't try yanking out his chakram while he was sleeping there.  Lets get him off your island."

Together, the two gods took the sleeping dragon, flew to the mainland and deposited him in the Skyway River, watching until he dissapeared into another plane.  Nixis idly wondered where he'd wake up, but decided it wasn't really his problem.

Here's the problem- the post said NOTHING about the Great sea- which implies that he had thrown it into the ocean next to Azora.

Oh, and Xeadin, the relevant post comes a few posts later... I gave you a day or so to respond.

The pillar of flame continued to drift along the ocean currents until it was sucked into a strange new place filled with sharks and sahaguin.  There it came to a rest, giving light to the black waters of The Deep.

It would make more sense for Corelloth to 'steal' his energy from him, instead of having him in another place and have his energy taken away from him unexpectedly... that wouldn't make sense in my opinion...

I want to have this sense of rivalry between Corelloth and Torvek. Corelloth is the big bad guy (or gal), and Torvek is trying to stop her from becoming this manic psycho that prefers to alter reality the way she sees fit. as you can tell, that makes her a foe to contend with.

Corelloth is Torvek's Exarch- yes, but I want to have this sense of 'detachment' from either of the two. You get what I'm saying?

I understand everything now- I just want Torvek's story to make sense.

#310

Topheh

Sep 19, 2009 18:37:50

Sure, I understand that.  But Correloth, as Torvek's rival/equal, shouldn't have to constantly take PP from Torvek... she should get some of her own.  For you, I more envision the 4 PP to be invested in you, the storyteller, rather than you, playing as Torvek... but its up to you.

#311

Xeadin

Sep 19, 2009 18:51:57

How else is she gonna get the PP? Combat Exarches aren't allowed to have their own pp- they have to 'borrow' it from their god. It is against ff6shadow's rules to have a combat exarch to have its own pp to spend (we had a discussion about that on the same day, too).

Plus, the story is told from his point of view. It goes from person to person, but the story revolves around Torvek- specifically.

#312

Topheh

Sep 19, 2009 19:01:43

The PP is a balancing abstraction designed to make sure that no single poster do more than they should in a given period of time.  Its not as if our gods are constantly wearing themselves out and then being revitalized when the next turn begins... thats just an abstraction put on top of the story we're telling.  If you *want* Torvek to be there, thats fine, but if you don't, thats also fine.  Trust me.

And... I explained to you a few days ago about how your god spends PP... Torvek doesn't have to be there for Correloth to spend his PP, remember?

Oh, and Xeadin, the relevant post comes a few posts later... I gave you a day or so to respond.

The pillar of flame continued to drift along the ocean currents until it was sucked into a strange new place filled with sharks and sahaguin.  There it came to a rest, giving light to the black waters of The Deep.

Except I meant the Great Sea.

Percentages are gone because reset was already late as I had a busy day. Rather than delay the reset until tommorrow afternoon at the earliest, I reset now.

Woo, extra PP! Smile

Anyway, still need to look through the IC (busy day, my brother came up to visit) but in reply to Xeadin's question, I have to say no, simply because it makes no sense for the slaadi to be infected with darkness when they're already the physical embodiment of the Chaos' corruption. Infecting them with darkness would sort of like be trying to light a fire on fire... plus since their elementals, they technically don't have any living tissue to be infected.

Too late Anubis . . he already did.

Xeadin, you're last post no longer workd. Neither Corelloth of the Monegar exist . . evenif they did, you couldn't enter the palace. The gates were sealed. It would take a PP expenditure to force you're way in

Xeadin, please delete and/or edit you're previous posts. Corelloth and that artifact never got remotely close to the Palace of Xa'an. . . . on an unrelated issue, I described the death and explosion enough . . I don'tthink you're descriptiong was very necessary. ;)

Woohoo! I'd have to say- that was pretty epic! Way to go, ff6shadow- it all worked out in the end! Corelloth is destroyed, and now Azora's torment is now half over...

What's next? Torvek gets to relax once again on Daelgar. Laughing

Woopie! (Does the victory dance...)

[EDIT]: Editing and Deleting is done! Anything else you'd like me to do?

The next LoC 3- I'll make sure to have the actions count! ...And this time- no more Corelloth! Wink

#326

Xeadin

Sep 20, 2009 0:00:39

you know- I was thinking:

For the LoC 3, I was thinking about instead of having the occupations/ skills for the mortals to learn to have like "Herbivology" and "Herbivology Mastery", I was thinking about having just the baseline occupations/ skills and use the Guide/ Teach action to actually advance the skill from basic to advanced to Mastery of the skill- so that we don't waste precious space and time, and it would make managing the mortal's skills alot easier.

However- in order to move them along like that, you'd have to make sure and not advance the skill along too quickly. That's one hurdle.

What do you think, ff6shadow? Do you think that's something to consider?

#330

Sep 21, 2009 14:58:55

Okay, this is what you've been waiting for.  The final reset for LoC2 will be happening VERY SOON.  At the earliest, perhaps tomorrow... but definitely within the next week or two.  After that, no more PP will be given out, and LoC3 will hopefully begin soon after, which is exciting!

Let me know how much more time your gods will want to wrap things up.  I can't promise we can give you all all the time you want ("I need 4 months to create an alliance of monstrous swordfish, sea urchins, flying fish and mutated monkeys in order to build spaceships to conquer the Tsarok and then turn them into bananas" is probably not gonna fly ;)) but we'll do our best.

#331

AnubisDread

Sep 21, 2009 17:48:26

All I need to do is finish making the scourge dragon cycle (which I can do this cycle before the reset even), set things up so Russet trying to become a god and conquer the Nine Hells is a good campaign/adventure hook, and maybe if I have a little PP left spawn triceratops and tyrannosaurus like behemoths.. oh come on, you were all thinking it Tongue out

#332

Xeadin

Sep 21, 2009 19:29:21

All I need to do is to find a way to destroy that Mogenar that's headed towards Chroma...

... Then perhaps Torvek'll want to stay at Daelgar as a safespot- maybe others would like to stay at Daelgar?

The Astral Plane and Daelgar would be 2 safezones for the gods to retreat to for the end of LoC2... maybe...

#340

Topheh

Sep 22, 2009 3:51:57

I'd like there to be some sort of end to it... although by no means does that have to be something that is resolved by the time that our PP runs out... it could take another 5000 years to come back to normal, or have some epic quest be to change something to cause it to warm up again, etc, etc.  Its giving me fun ideas at the moment, which is nice as I was pretty much completely out (hard to plan ahead when you know the game is going to end soon, right? )

#341

AnubisDread

I actually like the idea of ending in the beginning of an Ice Age... only the beginning, mind you. The lowering climate offers a wealth of plot hooks, like a villages only water supply freezing solid, or odd beasts usually only found in the arctic north wandering south. Plus like Topeph said, a grand epic quest to restore the balance of the weather would be a pretty good campaign hook.

I like that idea too, let's keep it :p

I still have a few things to do (but I'll just save some for the future LoC so we can end as we like), However I'd like to know in advance when the last PP reset is going to be, as I have a "departing gift" that I want to leave before I go...

Btw about how the story end I don't really like of "the Council of Veros just decide that the game is over, and that's it" I'd prefer some sort of "even" conflict (lasting a few days and ultimately won by the "leavers" faction) before the gods definitely abandon the world. What do you think about that?

If that's the case, then hows the first god going to come in without any domains to choose?

#345

Topheh

Sep 22, 2009 10:05:23

I'm gonna assume that when you called chapien Topheh, it was actually a cry for help in repudiating his vile and baseless claims.

Sadly, he's right.  as potential domains are made (after someone creates the first life, the life domain is an option, when it dies, the death domain is an option, when it gets raised as a zombie, the undeath domain is an option) we'll send PMs to everyone on the wait-list saying that there is a domain available.  The first god who claims it makes the usual "my god is X" post, like in LoC2, but without choosing 3PP of domains... instead, your starting domain is whatever domain it was that just opened.  At that point, you are the god of that domain, and after being ascended by a player, you can make your post.  Your appearance, name, personality, etc are all yours... but the domain is more constrained.

As for the first God... obviously an exception must be made... at least one god has to be present in order to start everything off.  In LoC1 it was a god coming from a place outside the universe and affixing himself into the universe forever, much like Torvek came from another universe.  In LoC2, it was knowledge, spontaneously coming into being on its own.  In LoC3... well... we shall see.

Nerdzul- yeah, we'll definitely make sure people know when the last reset is going to be.

You could focus on the Miasma.  It is, on some sense, supposed to be apocolyptic, eating everything in its path and converting it to more miasma.  If necessary put 3 pp into it and have it decreate 1 point of existance every "turn."  The gods leaving might contain it or destroy it, could be a solution.

#358

Oh, I'm very aware of the Miasma... gotta figure out a way not to have all my peoples up there die because of it

So, I'm busy beginning to put together a capstone page for the game.  Something to go on the wiki that gives a brief synopsis of the state of the world, and especially any plot hooks for those parts of the world.  Many of you have already given me ideas of what you would like to be remembered, but for the rest of you (and those who have already answered, as I didn't ask for plot hooks before), if you could just reply with a few paragraphs of info and plot hooks, it'd be greatly appreciated.

So, for instance, I'll want to remember the Children of the Aether, how they began as a refuge from the third war, how they expanded to be an aether-spanning nation, and how they are now in dire straights because they have lost their ability to generate more air, and they are running out.  Plot Hook:  There is an artifact to fix it, but it is scattered in three pieces across the world.

I'll also want to remember the Circle, who... etc etc, etc...

Thanks guys

#382

Topheh

Sep 28, 2009 10:53:11

group themes are... basically expanded monster templates designed to be used across multiple creatures.  I'm about to upload my idea for the Word Adepts...  there. lordsofcreation.wikia.com/wiki/Nixis#Tem....

Basically, they're designed to be themes for monsters.  So, for instance, if your big bad is going to be demigoron, you can reflavor your monsters with a group theme for 'Demigoron Cultist' and modify them slightly, giving them one or two new abilities and appearances in order to tie together potentially disparate parts of the campaign into a cohesive whole.  So, when those zombies have tentacles for arms, you know that a Demigoron cult is hiding out somewhere nearby, etc...

The Word Adepts aren't exactly meant to be monsters, but more a group united in a shared cause and with a special marking of their shared purpose.

#383

Xeadin

Nerdzul, can you clarify exactly what you are doing to the leylines for me?

Tapping on their power (only fluffwise) and some of the new "veins" are linked to the places with many ley lines intersections.

Uh, Topheh, if the children come back every so often doesn't that mean they have to go through the miasma?  Not that I am going to go after you on it (Ekluag, otoh Undecided).

Anyways, is there a decided closing official closing/end time?

Is there an exact date for when LoC3 begins?

Oh, I should have been more specific about that... they use the Arch to get back and forth.  Otherwise, yeah... they'd be quickly miasmized.

Okay, isn't today supposed to be the last day or something? Who's gone, and who still needs to go? What are we going to do about people who can't post today?

Oooh... I just had another idea pop into my head- resolving around PP producing Artifacts and Exarches- I was thinking about having them produce 1pp for one day and if that 1pp isn't spent, then another pp would be produced and stacked on that 1pp to make it 2pp. The 2pp would be the maximum limit, and if that wasn't spent, then it just resets to 1pp the next day and continues that pattern. This is just an idea- it doesn't need to be incorporated into the LoC 3, but it was something that came into my head...

Of course, you can't take pp from both exarches and artifacts at once- it would have to be one or the other at a time.

Aaaannnndddd..... Game!

Thanks everyone for such a wonderful experience.  I think we're made something really special.

So, with the game over, Im gonna reiterate my request from earlier.  If people could put together a little paragraph or summary of the current state of your creations and any plot hooks you'd like... Im going to take the time off to finish off the game history and create a 'the world today' page for quick skimming for plot ideas.  Look for the LoC3 OOC/recruitment/rules thread soon!

Aradeia, I was thinking of writing you a PM that you could tag to the end of your post explaining how Shurka left. It sucks how I wasn't able to post yesterday.

Or maybe we should just lock it now.

Okay, set up a skeleton page.  Im not even pretending that its got everything that might want to be touched upon, but it was all I could think up off the top of my head in a few minutes  Please help me out in filling it out.

mine doesn't really have a plot hook, except that the Dracos are starting to learn how to travel. They aren't really accustomed to war yet, but with time they will know soon enough.
