Lyncanthropy

Hi all,
I would really appreciate some input / ideas on the following:

I m DMng a story in which a PC wanted really badly to be bit by a wererat and become a lycanthrope (she was a doppleganger bard). She roleplayed the whole thing pretty well so I allowed it, although lycanthropy is only a hereditary disease in 4th edition rules.
I was thinking about the consequences of the lycanthropy on his character (homerules)...

Some ideas are the following:
1. Treat her as a shapeshifter and change her class into something more appropriate (eg druid)
2. Keep her as is but on a random dice roll shapeshift her into something mindless and savage...

Has anyone met something similar? Any ideas?

Thanks a lot all

A quick fix idea that might work is have her keep all her stats as normal, but give her two following things.

The Shifter encounter power (most likely razor claw, if mimicing a wererat).  Also, give her an infection of Moon Frenzy as long as she is the lycanthrope with the additional effects: Everytime you use the shifter encounter power, you gain Moon Frenzy; if you are already suffering from Moon Frenzy, increase your state of the disease by one.

This gives your player some mechanical bonus to being a lycanthrope, as well as some sufficient drawbacks and mind you, role-playing consequences, of being a lycanthrope.

This is a very good idea and easily implemented!
I ll probably build on that, thanks a lot. I m also thinking of adding some regeneration as an encounter power in addition to a loss of a standard amount of hitpoints after a number of rounds or after the end of the encounter (eg equal to the healing surge value).

Thanks again
