| #1lady_ishtarMay 05, 2011 22:55:33 | Here is another theme for my setting, along with a paragon path. Kind of one-with-the-machines psionic defender. Comments and criticism is welcome as usual. |
| #2rampantMay 06, 2011 2:19:55 | are the two options on the level 2 utility power supposed to have different durations? It's fine if they do it just looks like it could be an error. |
| #3lady_ishtarMay 06, 2011 7:01:42 | The are supposed to have different durations, though thinking about it it might be a little confusing. I was thinking that +4 damage until the End of your next turn would be too much. Of course I could scale the damage down. |
| #4magikot9May 06, 2011 17:50:42 | +4 damage might be a lot, but when you consider Shield gives a +4 power bonus to AC and Reflex and is the same level I think it's fine. |
| #5rampantMay 06, 2011 22:27:47 | power level is fine, just wanted to make sure there wasn't an error. |
| #6lady_ishtarMay 07, 2011 8:13:17 | Cool. Do any other powers, or the paragon path rise any red flags? overpowered? underpowered? just right? |
| #7magikot9May 07, 2011 8:40:23 | Glimpse of the Future and Time's Unfettered Hand are both overpowered. For Glimpse of the Future I suggest letting you use your primary ability modifier in place of instead of in addition to your dex modifier, keeping the can't be surprised. The way you have it written, a Dex primary PC or a Tiefling with Imperious Majesty effectively doubles their Iniative's Ability modifier. Assuming a 28 score, with only Superior Initiative taken and no other bonuses, this will give +41 Initiative at 30. Add in power bonuses, item bonuses, etc. and you can easily push it over +50. Times Unfettered Hand I would change to simply duplicate the Warchanter letting you spend 2 AP per encounter instead of 1. If the group reaches milestones and gains AP quickly then the current version could let you use 4 or 5 or more AP against the BBEG. Throw in all the other ways this character has to get additional actions and it becomes too easily abuseable. I'm assuming when you use a power you choose either the standard technique or the movement technique? If that's the case then Fleeting Moments is a really good power, not broken or overpowered, but there is no reason to ever use it as a movement technique when the standard lets you use teleport as a minor action. |

This I am ok with, originally i was just going to let them set their initiative to whatever they want. As it, its more of a "you go first unless you get really unlucky" ability. Times Unfettered Hand I would change to simply duplicate the Warchanter letting you spend 2 AP per encounter instead of 1. If the group reaches milestones and gains AP quickly then the current version could let you use 4 or 5 or more AP against the BBEG. True, you still have to hit, but vs. Will should be pretty easy. Of course you might need to use the teleport before the attack for whatever reason. |
| #9magikot9May 07, 2011 11:08:41 | Ah, in that case Glimpse the Future isn't that bad if it's what you intended. Since it's only a glimpse though, what about playing around with it a bit to something like this: You cannot be surprised. During the first round of each encounter you go first. After the first round roll your initiative normall. The character sees just a slight moment into the future, but due to the chaotic nature of combat can't accurately divine all the varied possibilities to ensure she goes first every round. I think this is more thematic for catching brief glimpses of the future, but your current way is fine the way it is. |
| #10lady_ishtarMay 07, 2011 23:57:56 | I see what you are saying, though it seems really clunky. Maybe something like "You are never surprised. In addition at the beggining of every encounter you always get a surprise action, even if you normally would not."? |
