Hey guys,

Changelings in my world are sometimes born from many other races (and breed true amonst themselves, as the existing race).

What I'm trying to do is create a series of feats that can be applied to most of my homebrew races.

I tend to prefer erring on the side of cool vs balance. Ignore references to taint. Its not really game impacting unless the DM (me!) decides for it to be, so its not really a balancing factor.

Prerequisite: (Certain Races), 1st level only
Benefit: You gain the ability to change your shape as a standard action.
Special: You gain 1 taint.

Quick Change [Changeling]
Prerequisite: Changeling
Benefit: You gain a +2 racial bonus to initiative and can use your change shape ability as a minor action.
Special: You gain 1 taint.

Empathic Changing [Changeling]
Prerequisite: Changeling.
Benefit: You gain a +2 racial bonus to Bluff and Insight checks when dealing with members of the race you are currently changed into.
Special: You gain 1 taint.

Racial Emulation [Changeling]
Prerequisite: Changeling.
Benefit: You are treated as a member of the race you are changed into for all purposes.
Special: You gain 1 taint.

---
Paragon Tier:
Malleable Memory [Changeling]
Prerequisite: Changeling
Benefit: You may retrain a single feat (other than this one) every time you take an extended rest. You must still meet all of the requirements of any feats you still have.
Special: You gain 1 taint.

Allowing a PC to count as a member of any race (for all purposes) as a standard or minor action, or to retrain a feat during an extended rest are both GROSSLY overpowered.

Of course, you said you care more about coolness than balance, so feel free to ignore me. Not sure what sort of feedback you were hoping for, in that case, though.

Some balance. Its for a small group of non-powergamers, so I doubt it'll be a problem. Mainly my wife, and I usually make her characters for her anyway...

Definitely not something for the masses. :D

Side note, I usually let all of my players repick any feat or power (or equipment or class or race) if they want to between sessions. Making it a feat requirement is more for flavor of changelings than anything. Waste of a feat in my games, really.

Nobody abuses it in my games. Nobody really even uses it. So whatev.
