I would like to create randomized maps and dungeons but make them completely my own visually. I know about skeletonkey games, but I prefer free since I am not being paid to DM games. I would be satisfied for just going into the program folder and replacing the programs default images... I just don't know what is out there since I am REALLY new to this. Thank you! |

Masterplan has a tile mapper built into it. I also use Fractal Mapper from nbos for a lot of my more complicated or larger maps but that one is not free (Maptool and Masterplan are both free). |
| #6KeremindeApr 09, 2011 21:01:23 | I have actually used my sets of Dungeon Tiles on a kitchen table to lay out a dungeon. This has the added benefit of me actually SEEING how sprawling something can get - after two surprises of having not enough room for a dungeon-like city, I found it necessary to actually work with that. After that, I had considered taking a picture of it but alas . . . no digital camera, and much much less ability to make certain I got it from an angle I could recreate from. So I got some graph paper and would jot down the tile shapes. As for an overland map, I have actually not solidified one and thus my travel distances are MOST POSSIBLY completely skewed! Luckily, nobody has complained yet or noticed strange discrepancies. I apologize for not having a program to point you to but I cut my DMing teeth on 2nd edition . . . I still have the hex map paper somewhere. |

How do you override the tile counter? I'd like to use this program to design dungeons, but the tile counter greys out once you reach the boxed set limit of pieces. |
