| #2sillenNov 19, 2008 11:03:10 | Hmmm, well you havent really added any weight ![]() So to me it feels as they are getting sharper rather than heavier or longer. |
| #3rikijiNov 19, 2008 14:23:48 | I'd probably start with a damage increase - d12 for the Great Scythe and 2d6 for the Reaper's Scythe. Either High Crit or Brutal 1 for the Reaper Scythe will round it out (I'd go with High Crit, otherwise it's a Mordenkrad clone). |
| #4deadplatypusNov 19, 2008 15:16:11 | d12 is two steps up from from the original Scythe. I think I'll leave the Greatscythe as it is and increase the damage of the Reaper's Scythe to d12. Brutal 2 as well, and maybe give it another ability, something other than High Crit since that would make in an execution axe clone, I'd say, but I can't think of anything else that's fitting. |
| #5karldark_dupNov 19, 2008 16:15:24 | a scythe should be a Heavy blade polearm. |
| #6deadplatypusNov 20, 2008 11:46:55 | Scythes don't really fight like Polearms, though. It doesn't seem right to make them that. |
| #7rikijiNov 20, 2008 11:59:56 | A standard Scythe isn't a polearm, so there's no reason the improved versions would be. |
| #8karldark_dupNov 20, 2008 15:16:12 | Scythes don't really fight like Polearms, though. It doesn't seem right to make them that. scythes are impractical as it is but fighting with one is quite similar to a polearm |
| #9yamishinobiNov 20, 2008 18:32:23 | scythes are impractical as it is but fighting with one is quite similar to a polearm scythes do have reach. (long shaft) make a new weapon group called scythes for your shinigami. |
| #10pigknightNov 20, 2008 20:41:04 | My Dervish has a class feature that gives scythes reach and +1 attack. That makes it go from Simple -> Martial/exotic in my opinion. |
| #11deadplatypusNov 21, 2008 3:29:23 | I think I'll give them reach and put them in their own weapon group. I'll have to make feats for them. Scythe Feat 1 Prerequisites: Str 15, Wis 15 Benefit: When you use a weapon power on a creature that is not adjacent to you, you may also pull that creature 1 square. |
| #12VampyresThrenodyNov 21, 2008 12:50:44 | The first feat impinges upon the fighter's Combat Challenge too much. The second is pretty good though for a fighter since it would bring them into the reach of their combat challenge. As for putting them in their own group, that's a bad idea. If you plan on using it in a standard game, you now have a weapon that doesn't cross with any of the normal weapons. The reason you would want to make it a polearm is due to the other polearm feats, the polearm powers and the polearm paragon paths. This gives anyone who uses a scythe more options. Of course you can always just claim that that glaive in your inventory is really a scythe. |
| #13deadplatypusNov 21, 2008 14:29:29 | Yeah, I wasn't quite sure about the first feat, I'll remove it. Either way, reach, yes, polearm, probably not, I'll see what other people think. |

It is always easier to find the closest existing weapon to what you want, and calling it and painting it as whatever you like. |

Of course, I would usually do this, but I'm not very certain about how fair it is to change the weapon group of a weapon. Is it really fair to take a Mordenkrad and turn it into a Heavy Blade? In case it is, is it as fair for weapons which don't have feats written for them, like the pick? |
