Gravity vs. You: Who Wins?

Jumping From Height: Jump Check or Tumble Check = # of feet removed from the fall for determining damage a character suffers. The first 10' (1d6 damage) is non-lethal.

Falling From Height: Jump Check or Tumble Check, x1/2 = # of feet removed from the fall for determining damage a character suffers.

This means if you can jump 100' up, you don't take 10d6 damage from it when you land. Your body is obviously able to handle the strain of sudden force launching you against gravity, so it should also be able to handle the same amount of force at the end, when you land. If you actually do jump higher than 10 feet, you have to make 2 checks - one for the height of the jump, one for the landing. Chances are good that you won't hurt yourself from leaping really high unless you roll significantly less than 1/4 your jumping value (which is possible with open-ended dice).

Open-Ended Dice

On a D20 roll (for any check), if you roll a natural 20, roll again, subtract 1 from the 2nd roll and add it. This is a recursive thing, so if you roll 3 natural 20s in a row, then a 10, you get 20 +(20-1) +(20-1) +(10-1) = 67.

The same goes for natural 1s, only you subtract it, and hope you don't get a natural 1 followed by one (or more) natural 20s. Like if you roll a 1 and two 20s, then a 7, you get 1 -(20-1) -(20-1) -(7-1) = -43.

Only in the original roll does a natural 1 count for open ended values. So rolling a natural 20, then a natural 1, is simply a 20. Don't ever roll a 3rd+ die unless the previous die is a natural 20.

This rule overrides "auto-X on a natural Y" rules. This means that you can actually hit on a natural 1, or miss on a natural 20.

Negative 10 & Death

Characters are not dead at -10hp. They are dead at less than -(10+HD+CON), where CON is the constitution bonus. So a 5th level character with a constitution of 15 (and thus a bonus of +2) will not be dead until less than 10+5HD+2CON = 17 below zero, or -17hp.

Yes, I acknowledge that this makes the Diehard feat more powerful. No, I don't care.
