| #2Cohen95Jul 13, 2011 22:46:31 | Is there a particular reason this can't be accomplished through reflavoring? Mechanically, it's a maul/mordenkrad. Just reflavor it to be a sword. You would still need feats/powers to work with a hammer in order to benefit from those feats/powers, but just call it a sword. Yes, I agree, it can get a bit wonky, but there's no real reason it can't work. Or is there specific combo you're looking to use? |

I like the sword feature better than the axe feature, but I can live with axe. I can probably just use the gouge, but ideally I would like a sword. And I'm not sure if I'll meet some resistance by including stuff from the dark sun book. It's not a big deal, but it got me thinking about how much weapon type really mattered since they've already started crossing the lines. |

Or get Power Attack (or pick any other feats/powers that focus on doing more damage with the Greatword at expense of other options to increase accuracy). Overall your proposed change for a Slayer would increase your DPR for the defender/striker role, at no cost to you other than persuading your DM to allow it. Only a small increase, but an increase nonetheless (I might estimate +0.2 DPR assuming you hit on a 9 with the RAW Greatsword and a 10 with your +2 proficiency version). So in those terms yes it is "unbalanced". However, the effect is quite small, and the math doesn't take into account missed chances to apply conditions. |

| #6stargazer_dragonJul 14, 2011 13:46:57 | I personaly see no reason not to allow it. there are some basic guidlines for weapons but long as the basics ((like no two handed D12 lightblades so on and so forth)) guidlines are maintained the effects are som minimal and easaly aquaired via other means that I see no reason against it, now I would watch feats since feats can make some combo's broken but thats simply fixed by saying that combo fails to work for said weapon. |
