| #1copycatzeroNov 11, 2009 16:09:17 | (Did a quick forum search, and the only thread on the subject I saw went without comment about the multiclass feats suggested, so I figured I'd ask for myself.) I've got a character idea I've been kicking around for a bit now, an attempt to recreate an unarmed swordsage I had made in 3rd, so, when assassin came out, I figured I had most of the work done for me right there. Unfortunately, running the character concept through assassin, I found myself with powers and a paragon path (the shadowblade one) that I wasn't really satisfied. My previous idea was making the character a monk, but that wasn't doing it for me, either. So, obviously, the answer becomes some manner of monk/assassin multiclass. Only problem is, Wizards didn't supply us with a multiclass for either class (understandable, though annoying, for monk; egregious for assassin, especially since they also ran out of steam before giving us a full compliment of feats). Since I'd rather have the assassin's main ability-set and dip into monk than the other way around, I'm in the market for a monk multiclass feat. I could wait until PHB3 comes out (which is what I'm doing for another character whose weapon I want to be unarmed), but I'm worried that this character's role in the campaign may have come and gone before then. So, when all else fails, houserule: Disciple of the Fist [Multiclass Monk] Prerequisite: Dex 13, Str 13 or Wis 13 Benefit: You gain training in [the (insert skill here) skill]/[one skill from the monk's skill list]. You can use the monk unarmed strike, which is a weapon in the unarmed weapon group. This weapon has the off-hand weapon property, a reach of 1, and a +3 proficiency bonus, and the weapon damage die is 1d8. You must have a hand free to use your monk unarmed strike, even if you’re kicking, kneeing, elbowing, or head-butting a target. As far as I see it, it's about the same as taking Weapon Training in a superior weapon, with the usual "you get free skill at the cost of never being able to take a different class' multiclass feat" thing tossed in. | #4copycatzeroNov 13, 2009 17:55:10 | sounds good. Ah, Tuesday, to be exact. Of course, no guarantee they'll post a multiclass feat along with it. Actually the assasin feat is in the compendium, they just forgot to put it in the actual article. Ah, gotcha. I was screwing around in Character Builder with the assassin, so I naturally didn't see it on the list, heh. |
