Not sure if this should be posted here but I need some help with monster design. Basically the party is helping a mercenary group in the blood war. They c find out a group on the abyssal layer they are on is trying to resurrect a dead primordial, The Forever Hungry, whose stomach is a void that can never be filled. They are going to battle through his partially reconstructed body til they get to the heart which will be the end boss. Group is lvl 8 and im planning tje heart to be an immobile creature defended by waves of minions. Going to use solo brute stats, but im not sure.about what powers to give it. Want to make this battle hard and was thinking powers that pull pcs towards it and maybe a wave ability that damages everyone but im unsure about damage and.what not as I have no real experience in buildimg monstets. Anyone done somethimg lime this or have suggestions?

Well honestly I would suggest more that just tons and tons of minions.  Personally, that just gets boring if all you're hitting is minions especially if they're waves and waves because if they keep the group from getting to the heart then the part will die.  Though I guess it depends on what you consider a "wave".  I would say doing a few minions, then have an elite or two that are the main guards to the heart.  Then when the minions drop you can replace them but at the same time a few enemies on the field will still allow the players to chance for one or two of them to get through to attack the heart while the others work to hold off the rest.

I like waves and waves, though make the heart hit and kill minion and player alike, after all it is a ever hungry being why should it reconise freind or for.  Perhaps 2 layers of the heart, or doment outside layer, give it some form or aura power and guard it by a couple elites, (also immobile peices of the heart  or something)  So in the beginning the pc fight through maybe waves of 5 or 6 minions that swan each round from difrent parts of the room. make the minions lower lvl then the party they realy are just there to die. The party main goal at first will be to kill the 2 elites guarding the heart,  while dealing with the hearts uara. don't hint at all that the heart has a second form

Then once they kill the elites and bloody the heart have the shell crack off of it exposing the real heart and I would toss in 4 or 5 standard peices of the heart , maybe arteries that spit out suicidal minion (minions that kill themselves when they attack but do burst 1 damage, make these a couple lvls higher then the party fo better effect) the arteries have no other purpos then each 1 plopping out a exploding minion in defence of the heart.

for the heart itself give it slide effects and imobalising effects, knocking targets prone sliding them into position for the exploding minions and knocking them prone so it's harder to reach the heart. Then strip the hearts aura give it a difrent one, maybe represented as the toxic blood dripping from the bleading heart.

So basicaly the combot would happen in stages

Stage 1
1 minion per party member per round. (apear on the far side away from the heart targets ranged attackers first)
2 elite immobile melee guards
The Heart iself (no attack just a arua that fills half the room)

Stage 2 once the heart is bloodied
1 standard artery per player. Arteries attack by spawning a exploding minion
Exploding minions move to platyers then explode burst 1 attack (maybe explodes if killed before it reaches them also)
The heart, Not just a aura any more toxic blood aura and ranged attacks (controler type) maybe recharge power to bring back a lost limb recharge 6.
1/2 the same minion as round 1 spawn each round.

By this point the PC should be prety raggety and weak so wouldn't go a round 3 but if they are strong enough you could make a elite creature inside the heart brute type and make the room start crumbling so they must run from the creature or kill it realy fast if they hope to live. could make for a very exciting escape if the creature is stronger then them so they goto run but is much slower so it takes several rounds to catch up to them pressing the combats on the way out. but thats a difrent idea all together lol
