What? No Vieras? just kidding... I like 'em so far. I'm not much of a judge on balance though. I always just kinda thought of dragonborn as Bangaa... the whole honor thing and reptile heritage... lizards.

replace "ones" in tiny knight with weapons and it should be more clear... though it's obvious you're talking about weapons, it threw me the first time I read it. Don't know how it could be useful unless someone REALLY wants to be a mog.

kupo.

my group decided on no Vieras, one of my female players made a long rant about the topic lol

and bangaa will actually be replacing dragonborn completely. (For that exact reason)

fixed that little error in tiny knight, and yes... they want to be moogles... badly...

I see no reason that there cannot be an all-female race.

Nobody said they al had to be super-models with triple D's.

On-Topic: I like them, though "Bangaa Might" should be "Oversized" to follow naming conventions.

Yep MM race.

You know... If you want a Viera you can just play a Doppelganger... Busty Rabbit Women FTW!!

I would have way too much fun in your group...

you probably would, we have a very violent group many of whom have their own little quirks.

blake will punch me if i ever manage to get him in a trap

steff carries a stick she found outside one day, she dares you to make a sexist joke...

josh makes sexist jokes

and all of the players critical failures hurt shawn... for no particular reason.

Failing that make a NPC Battle Sorceror to harrass your group.

lol, well if you can get to michigan then you're solid otherwise give me a link to the Battle Sorceror and i'll make sure he will be very harassing.

Make him a Transmuter eh? I'm not gonna be in michigan anytime soon. He should be suitably harrassing as an opponent.

o.k., one annoying recurring npc named Wyld coming up. this NPC have a goal besides annoyance? i'm thinking pointless not-exactly-evil plot, like... trying to create a race of big breasted bunny women...

That would work. Have him trying to rule the world and make sure he's a total womanizer. He can be human... Or he can be a doppelganger. Possibly a kobold with small man syndrome. Any of them work.

The ability to alter reality should give him a leg up.

lol, i'm loving the kobold idea... an all-powerful womanizing kobold with a napoleon complex... oddly enough this is the kind of opponent we usually face, all he needs now is a very unnatural and powerful hatred towards any character shaun makes, this is a requirement for all villains in my campaign.

if anyone who reads this thinks i shouldn't pick on a player... well they haven't met shaun.

I think Wyld the Battle Sorcerer Kobold could use some backup. Like a Stormsoul Genasi Lancer multiclased into Wizard named Shadow.

On topic, I think both races look fairly balanced, and I love the Tiny Knight feat. Just the sort race I could get into playing. Mostly becuase I think Mog was awesome.

Meh, it's probably just one of those situations where you can't tell the difference.

There were female Bangaa. They just looked almost the same as the males (the tiniest anatomical differences that most of the time you don't notice).

Aug 20, 2008 15:18:21
Very well done. The Moogle give off a mix of Tiefling and Halfing in terms of thier racial abilities and power, while the Baanga are a lot like Dragonborn, but geared towards a two weapon fighting Ranger or heavy weapon fighter rather than an inspiring Warlord.

This is thinking out loud, but Elves might make a good Viera analog. Everything just sort of matches up somehow.

Again, well done.

If you are doing a FF type game world are you going to make a "Wield Large Weapon" Feat so people can have the giant Cloud sword?

also

Final fantasy 12 is based in the same world as tactics and there are female Bangaa, they're just more rare and very similar to males. early in the game you are attacked by a group of Bangaa bounty hunters that includes one female.

ff6shadow-thanks; mogs rule

Mr_Arcane - have a

Voidraithe - i was actually already pondering a feat like that, but it would give a super-advantage to PC who already have oversized...

I'm also thinking of making "boomerang" magic weapons that return to you when thrown. blitzballs anyone? :D
#23

ff6shadow

Aug 20, 2008 17:35:58
Actually, that boomerang effect isn't necessary. All magic weapons return now. For the Wield Large Weapon feat, just state that is doesn't stack with the racial abilities that do the same thing.

What do you think of giving Wyld the kobold some backup?
#24

wyld_mutation

Aug 20, 2008 17:39:56
Preferably backup as twisted as himself? (ff6 presented a pretty on-target backup for him.)

:D My Pirate Ninja powers shall lay low your group from half a country away!! (running joke about myself on YMtC)

Yeah I can just see a Battle Sorcerer and an Lancer/Wizard into Elemental Fury as being best friends and a devastating combo.

In fact, it may show up in my next campaign.

ah i forgot about the magical returning...

and wyld will definitely bring backup with him... *starts mumbling and scribbling in a notebook*

For the Wield Large Weapon feat, just state that is doesn't stack with the racial abilities that do the same thing.

guah! but that negates the whole point of having oversized

i got it, how 'bout it allows creatures to use weapons one size larger then themselves and as a special if it's taken by someone with the oversized racial trait it instead gives them +3 to dmg dealt when using weapons larger then yourself?

EDIT: oh ff6, just so you know the blue mage is in my campaign without a doubt

Why low-light vision? and you should give them a +5 bonus on jump checks... Just for flavor of course.

Does the power affect yourself too?

Ronso in my game are deep jungle hunters instead of high mountain warriors like in the actual game. so i though low light would be good.

specified that the roar does affect you as well

and added +5 to jumps (how did i forget that)

One last thing: In order for them to remain balanced Jump needs to replace an encounter power. See warforged for an example.

Most races get an extra power somewhere (except dwarves, they get sweet bonuses thoyugh). However giving another extra power is too much. Or rather it's too many powers.

Other than that: I think they're great!

*shrug* I'm working on a Blood Knight to go with my spell breaker (Arcane Leader that qualifies for Spellbreaker from the gate). Maybe you should do something like make a Divine Striker?

And reply to my Spellbreaker of course. I think I did a good job.:D

i can't find the spellbreaker for some reason -_-

and the only divine striker i can think of is a zealot, but that feels more like a paragon path...

i'm thinking of either making a crapload of races (if someone would like to suggest some)

or my own take on the shapeshifter that ff6 is working on.

Oh... Wait... Those are Dragonborn...

How about playable undead races? Or maybe a Druid (Leader)? Possibility of a Troll Race?

super kobolds are under consideration... but i really like the idea of a playable undead race, maybe two different ones...

i personally don't like a troll race because there is no was to really balance regeneration for pc's

Nobody saifd a troll has to have constant regeneration.

Racial power: Troll's Regeneration
Daily
Immediate Reaction * Healing, Racial
Trigger: You are dropped to 0 hp or less
"Spend a healing surge, and additionlly you gain regeneration 2 while bloodied until the end of the encounter."

Not unbalanced... OK maybe good but... Dragonbreath is better.

And I'm totally behind you on the idea of expanding Kobolds. (Or making super kobolds), I mean they expanded the warforged didn't they?

Expanded Goblinoids.

Doppelgangers (Changelings).

It's a race from races of the dragon or whatever. It's hard to describe. Look it up is about the only advice I can give.
