| #1captainsharAug 05, 2008 11:12:01 | In Glenndria, Shar's body lies breathing but her eyes are vacant and soulless. Dull gray and twisting ghostlike figures fade dully in their depths. OOC: Post here if you want to go on an excursion away from the Outlands to the plain where Shar's soul is held captive. |
| #2NightScreamer20Aug 07, 2008 0:36:12 | The flash of silver crossing into Glenndria's boundaries closely by a large Re... "Wait a second... where's Fel, Daken, and Mr. Gray?" They hover looking around. "Don't see 'em around brother..." "Bet we passed them again... Ugh let use circle until they arrive." Glenndria is now christianed by a large hoop, a silver halo above the city's tower. |
| #3bookmenAug 07, 2008 14:19:55 | Inside Glenn's shop Val waits in an out of the way corner resisting the urge to assert himself in the group. |
| #4orcy_the_green_wonderAug 08, 2008 12:08:54 | The massive bird circling above the city of Glenndria descends. Swooping down to the streets and vanishing within one of it's many nooks. Stepping out, a red headed woman walks the streets, making her way into the shop of Glenn. Wearing a thin red blouse that clings tightly to her and a pair of similarly tight pants, the woman looks up at those in the room and the 'forged behind the counter. She smiles to those within and curtsies, stepping toward a side and waiting for her turn, adjusting a sword at her side for more comfort. |
| #5gulienAug 09, 2008 0:07:18 | A large red appears on the horizon and slowly approaches the city above the swamp. Circling twice and finding their bearings Daken finds the airdocks and makes a landing but not before getting the attention of Gix and Mach. Dismounting Fel settles and stretches his weary legs as Daken stretches his back like a cat and his wings go straight into the air. Daken:"Always with the flying, ugh, my wings ache with it all." Fel:"Ah, quit your complaints, you know if I were you and you were I, I would never tire of the all-mother's gifts. Tis' a wonderous thing to be free of this worlds restraints. Now, let us find lord Glenn's shop and the others. Gix passed us, twice, again. Ugh. Atleast we arrived before Avorio." Arriving shortly to Glenn's shop Fel is surprised to see all the people within. Moving alongside Gix and the Busty Redhead who he once saw Calijacobrus change into he waits his turn and makes small talk with his friends. First he points to Val Takk the 4th and then leans in to Calijacobrus speaking quietly. Fel:"Gix look, a mage! Must be, not a sword to be seen and all that fancy stuff just hanging there. Wonder if you two have anything in common? And you, Jacob... Calibrus, we must think of a hand signal or something for the future, my eyes lack the magic that Kosj'gix weilds and you may altogether confuse me." When the 'forged comes to them Fel speaks up and speaks loudly. "We wish to ask Lord Glenn for any knowledge he may hold of the former keep of Ghashmal's defenses and magical acoutraments." While he waits for his response Fel looks around to the bustling shop and addresses the mage he had pointed out to Gix,Val Takk the 4th. "You there, mage, have you knowledge of what has led to this commotion? If lord Glenn troubles I would seek to assist him in bringing order to his usually peaceful and efficient shop." OOC: I have been sick. Sorry for the absense. I almost died. Furreal. |
| #6bookmenAug 09, 2008 19:51:58 | "There is a corpse of a women in the back that is most . . .perplexing. Spirits spill from her eyes as if her head were a crypt. I believe she was brought by the Sailors that where in there as well. I would have liked to have learned more, but Glenn shooed all of us out here." Val's eyes drift to the dorr to the back room obviously wanting to learn more. "I would also like to help with any troubles here." Val's eyes focus back on to Fel and his combanions. "Oh, I am Val Takk the Forth. Force Mage. What are yours?" OOC: Dang that sucks Gulien. Well since you not dead I can only assume you are better. Glad you are better. ![]() |
| #7orcy_the_green_wonderAug 09, 2008 20:12:21 | The woman approaches with swaying hips, looking at Val Takk with a smile. "Oh? Sailors you say? Were they big beefy sailors or small quick sailors? Theres all sorts of them... Whats it matter though... And a woman with spirits? Oh that sounds interesting." The woman stops and taps her chin with a slender finger, bouncing in a bubbly manner and giggling. "Oh! A force mage? I've seen one of those before but uhm... where...?" |
| #8orcy_the_green_wonderAug 10, 2008 17:10:26 | Glenn steps out from within his shop carrying a large metallic staff with numerous buttons, turning wheels and other gizmos, gadgets and widgets. He presses his metal arms to the staff and sets it's butt onto the ground, his helm once again upon his head. The gem-eyes of his metallic visage flash for a moment as he speaks in ominous tones. "You who have gathered... who have come here seeking something of value from me. But it is I that must seek something from you at this time. There is a woman in the other room, a friend of mine. Too long has her body rested in the darkness of Hades. She is in danger of losing her very soul, though I have tried to call her back to this world. I require assistance this time. I need volunteers to travel into the pits of hades, to find her and bring her back here." |
| #9bookmenAug 10, 2008 19:38:09 | Val, after a moment's deliberation, makes himself known feeling that a problem for someone who spreads magic everywhere he goes is a problem for all of magic. "I will aid you Lord Glenn. You can trust that the powers of Val Takk the 4th to not fail you." In the corner of his eye he watches Gorad and Sardal, hoping they won't act upon the insult he, unknowingly, gave Sargantanas. In his mind he debates whether he would want Vampires on this mission. (OOC: Val doesn't like Vamps to much, but is smart enough to look past that when appropriate.) |
| #10lady_rolindinAug 12, 2008 3:55:27 | Kord looks around at the others, "Mastercrafter Glenn I would be glad to help you in this quest." |
| #11gulienAug 12, 2008 6:10:20 | Looking to both Gix and Calijacobrus Fel gives a curt nod. Stepping forward and saluting Fel speaks clearly. "And you shall have the Dogs of War at your service. We are partially responsible and will go to no ends to see our comrades brought back to the bosom of the all-mother! " |
| #12thefriendlysmile_dupAug 12, 2008 6:14:29 | From outside the store Avorio's shrill voice can be heard yelling at Essux. "SLOWEST. DRAGON. EVER." Entering with a flourish she skips to Fel and he tells her all that has happened. Her face darkens and then she smiles with a sardonic intent. "Going to the underworld to save your little girlfriend? Oh yes, I will go." |
| #13orcy_the_green_wonderAug 12, 2008 16:53:01 | The woman that was 'calibrus' nods, bouncing about and waving a hand over her head. "I'll go! I'll go!" She stops as Fel begins speaking to Avorio and turns when he is finished. She scowls at the armored dragon rider and presses fists into her hips. "You didn't tell me you had a girlfriend!" |
| #14bookmenAug 12, 2008 22:59:27 | When hearing "Calibrus's" words Val instictivly replies. "MiLady I am sure there was some simple missunder. . ." Val suddenly stops with a look of mild embarrasment on his face. "Forvive me. I spoke instictivly. My old master, Val Takk the 3rd, was often caught between two ladies and I was the one expected to keep them from ringing his neck." |
| #15gulienAug 13, 2008 8:43:05 | Fel shakes his head in annoyance. Looking to Avorio he gives a smile and a wink. "My love, you are the only one for me, else you would vaporize me if i strayed." To Juggy the bouncy wonder he looks and smiles. "You play a dangerous game shifter, I once watched this woman freeze, burn, then melt a woman for accidently waving in my direction. She is rather.... posessive." |
| #16captainsharAug 13, 2008 9:58:12 | If any of you can pass an Int check of DC 5, you will remember that Glenn is quite likely to be able to open gates to other planes. The start of your journey should be quite simple. If anyone wants to make further Knowledge (the Planes) checks concerning Hades, the Underworld, or the three-headed dog and the ghosts, please do so now. Tell me specifically what you want to know more about. |
| #17orcy_the_green_wonderAug 13, 2008 14:52:45 | The bubbly girl's appearance shifts and changes until a duplicate of Avorio stands infront of Fel and... Avorio. Her radiant robe hangs loosely about her body and a black veil covers her face. A wicked grin spreads across her face as she looks the man over. "You dare to speak that way to me?" She steps over to the other Avorio, folding her arms over her chest and glaring at Fel. "We are not amused." Glenn raises his staff and a pair of contstructs, half completed effigies of men enter carrying a doorway set into a frame. They turn and walk back into the other room, gears spinning openly and wood and stone bodys shuffling away. The Lord of Glenndria lowers his staff at the door and a humming is heard, the tip of his staff glowing bluish. The door swings open revealing a cold, barren world of the dead beyond. "This will be your entryway. Enter if you are able." |
| #18lady_rolindinAug 14, 2008 3:53:36 | What I would like to know is if Kords hammer was given back to him, because on page 27 post 786, Kord did not get a responce as to where his hammer was finished with the fire ball ability added to his hammer. If Kord has been given back his hammer, he would of course then pay for the magical ability added to his hammer. Kord is a paladin of Celestial the traveling god of the planes and planets. "Mastercrafter Glenn could you tell us where this portal goes too, if you don't mind. I might know something about this place." Kord asks Glenn |
| #19orcy_the_green_wonderAug 14, 2008 15:47:47 | ((Orcy recalls the mention of the 'fireball property' and he believes he mentioned that it does not exist.)) "Hell, Hades, the pit of despair. But mostly just Hades. Seems to be where shes at so thats where you'll go. This is all voluntary remember, you don't have to risk your lives to save hers, but if ya want to, then please do. Chop chop, times a wastin, no idea whats happening in there, going in blind, have fun!" |
| #20aramar_the_blackAug 14, 2008 17:02:15 | Having decided that the construct at the counter was inept, Dory turned his attention to what had been going on around him and focuses on the portal to the Underworld. He gazes at it blankly for a few moments, as though thinking. "Right then. I'll go." And with that he strides forward, armor clinking, to walk through the portal. |
| #21lady_rolindinAug 15, 2008 2:42:41 | Kord then will go through the portal, before he goes through, "Lets go then, all of you are welcome to join." |
| #22bookmenAug 15, 2008 6:12:54 | "He acts like it were his rescue mission. Appearantly I am not the only arrogant person around here." Val walks through the portal. |
| #23gulienAug 15, 2008 7:04:46 | Fel watches the display as he goes to the doors to let the dragons in. Laughing he gets Daken's things ready and prepares to leave. Daken swivels his head back and speaks quietly to his rider. Daken:"What in the 9 hells is going on?" Fel:"Going to Hades, getting Shar's soul back, keeping Avorio from killing Shar once she is back, avoiding those three the entire time so as to stay alive." Daken:"Oh, well then. Seems like a solid plan, shall we go?" With that Fel and Daken go to the portal. Just before he heads in Fel looks over his shoulder and yells. "DOGS OF WAR! ROLL OUT!" |
| #24thefriendlysmile_dupAug 15, 2008 10:19:01 | As if looking into a mirror Avorio smiles and dances around her body. Looking to Fel before he leaves she grins wider blows him a kiss. "I am HOT! Fel honey, you can look at this one, I don't mind, that much." To her other self she adds in a whisper and ends in a sultry wink. "Our anniversary is coming up soon and you know what they say.... two are better than one." When her fun is over she whistles loudly and soon Essux follows Daken in. Following her husband she goes into hell. |
| #25orcy_the_green_wonderAug 15, 2008 11:24:31 | The second Avorio grins and gives a wink back to her counterpart. She does a twirl, a spin and hops through the portal into Hades, skipping and jumping as she exits out the other side of the portal she spins once more before coming to a stop beside the others. |
| #26NightScreamer20Aug 15, 2008 12:15:48 | A streak of Silver light flies through the portal, Fel's ear has been flicked as it passed. ((Haven't been around so ya... I'm going through! Mach and Gix are Rolling out!)) |
| #27bookmenAug 17, 2008 18:26:16 | (OOC: Do we already know where in Hades Shar is? Or the general direction she is in?) |
| #28captainsharAug 18, 2008 22:15:51 | As the Dogs of War and other adventurers step through the portal, you emerge on a dark gray landscape, with just the barest differentiation between sky and land. The pull of this place is of the very essence of evil, which sucks out all life and hope and leaves nothing, not even hot rage, in its place. (Those of neutral alignment take a -2 penalty to all mentally-based checks - Int, Wis, and Cha - and good characters take a -4.) To the casual eye, the landscape is flat and barren in all directions. |
| #29orcy_the_green_wonderAug 18, 2008 22:54:19 | The second avorio hops around for a few moments then sighs. She kicks at a rock on the ground and turns toward the others. When she speaks, her tone is horribly bored. "What wonderful places you take me to Fel." |
| #30bookmenAug 18, 2008 23:09:26 | Val trys not to let the effect of the plane show and inwardly thinks "And here I thought not making ritual sacrifices was a good choice." He noticably smilies at the second Avorio's comment. "The Lady makes a point. Lets try not to tarry." Val's hands move in complex jestures and arcane words spill from his mouth. Casting Locate Creature to try and find Shar. |
| #31captainsharAug 18, 2008 23:35:18 | As Bookmen casts the spell, he comes up with... a direction. For the sake of sanity, let's call this direction West. Back behind where the portal is. And a long way that way, far as he can tell. |
| #32bookmenAug 19, 2008 5:58:07 | (With mention of the portal I want to make sure you are sending me toward Shar's soul. Her body is now an object and thus the spell won't locate it, but her soul is still a creature. With that in mind does the spell still point West?) |
| #33captainsharAug 19, 2008 13:43:20 | Yes. It's not pointing towards her body (which is obviously nearby, just back through the portal). |
| #34bookmenAug 19, 2008 14:17:19 | (Ok, when the portal was mentioned I got a little worried you might try and pull "Well the body IS her." I had a DM try that once. He was new to DMing.) Once Val has his direction he points "West" and calls to the others. "Captian Shar is that way and is some distance from here. She is far enough away that I feel we will need a form of transportation better then our feet." |
| #35NightScreamer20Aug 19, 2008 18:56:48 | Mach and Gix hover gently feeling the pull on their minds. "This place does not do well, even to the mind of a Dragon..." "Agreed brother... Something is far from normal here." They both look at Val. "You should have brought a mode of travel yourself. For the Dogs of War travel on the skies and the wings of the mightiest beasts in existance!" "Beasts?" "Legendary, powerful, intelligent, mythical... but yes Beasts." "I hate you sometimes Brother. But with that said, let us locate our fallen Captain." |
| #36thefriendlysmile_dupAug 19, 2008 19:40:04 | As the talk goes on Avorio takes in the landscape. She looks about and tries to get her bearings, failing in that she looks at the others. Smiling she mounts Essux and calls out to the others. "I think I like it here." Breathing deeply she calls out to Gix. "Kosj'gix! Where do we go from here? I wish to meet this Shar and have words with her!" |
| #37gulienAug 19, 2008 19:57:48 | Laughing Fel mounts Daken laugh's at Calijacobrus McBoobz's comments. "Enough jokes, let us move out I wish not to tarry in this land if it negatively effects my comrades." Speaking down he address's Val, Dory, and Kord. "We wish you lot well however your services will not be needed. The Dogs of War will handle this matter. If you wish to be of any help what-so-ever stay here and guard the portal. No need endangering yourselves for someone you have never met. " OOC: On that note im gonna be a jerk. I wanna make this Team Evil (Us) vs. Team Good(You guys). Also Val Takk cannot have cast that spell on Shar because as it is stated "To find a kind of creature, you must have seen such a creature up close (within 30 feet) at least once.". Which he never has seeing as how she died before his arrival in Tyrannor. Also keep in mind you said this: (With mention of the portal I want to make sure you are sending me toward Shar's soul. Her body is now an object and thus the spell won't locate it, but her soul is still a creature. With that in mind does the spell still point West?) Nothing personal. Looking out for my team. |
| #38bookmenAug 19, 2008 21:00:08 | (First off, OOC don't worry about how your PC is acting. If you are playing him the way he is ment to be then I wont take it personally. Vote of support covered? Yes? Good. Now onto your comment on my spell choice: I am not looking for a kind of creature. I am looking for a specific person. By my reading of the spell I need only know of a person to locate the person. It says that to find a "kind of creature" then I must have "seen such a creature up close (within 30 feet) at least once," but in the spell states ". . .can locate a creature of a specific kind or a specific creature known to you." The 30 feet statement addresses a kind of creature not a specific creature. Val does know of Shar and has seen her corpse. By my understanding this should allow for a Locate Creature spell to work. But I think the greatest point I can bring up in my defence is that a DM allowed my spell to take affect.) Val visibly stiffens at Gix naming dragons, one of the most powerful embodiments of magic in all of existance, "beasts," but is unable to comment as Fel's statment draws his attention. "I will not be needed? Do you really plan to take on whoever is powerful enough to imprison Captian Shar by yourself? We're not talking about some lowly Imps here; it would take massive magical power to hold the Captian and negate a Resurrection spell crafted by Lord Glenn." (OOC: Val is running on the assumption that someone who is able to garner this level of respect from everyone involved must be pretty powerful. Thankfully he is right. I know you'll understand when I say don't take what he says personally. Just for the record he is not Good. He does what must be done for the sake of magic. |
| #39lady_rolindinAug 20, 2008 5:30:46 | "This is about Shar, Val brings out a good point. We need to work together, for we know not the strenght of the enemy. If you might let us come along with you, since Val can detect Shar. We as a group could travel fast and bring back Shar's soul together faster. This would get us out of here sooner, alot fast if we work together. What we do after this task is finished is up to the indivuals back in Trannor, not on this plane. Infighting or seperating will be the death of all of us, that is what the creature holding Shar's soul would want. For this group to fight each other or seperate, while it and it's mentions will pick the bones of the ones left alive. I do believe that Glenn is capabile of killing any creatures that makes their way through the portal. or he would not hold the portal open. If Mastercrafter Glenn was worried about such creatures he would have closed the portal behind us and then given one of us a key to open the portal again else where. " Kord says to them. Kord has the symbol of the god Celestian the traveling god of the planes and planets. |
| #40captainsharAug 20, 2008 10:05:01 | *Please do not negate my rulings. If you have a question, send it in a PM. Val Takk has indeed seen Shar's body, and also looked at her eyes to see what her ghost is seeing.* Behind you, in the East, a red glimmering point suddenly flashes onto the horizon. It, too, is a long way off, but the presence of some color besides gray brings a great sense of relief. |
| #41aramar_the_blackAug 20, 2008 19:18:45 | Dory's head snaps around as he notices the light in distant east. "Humm...something interesting. And dangerous, probably." He looks at Val and Kord. "Either of you have something fast? My steed can fly, but she cannot carry much." |
| #42bookmenAug 20, 2008 19:32:23 | Val notices the flash as well and considers Dory's question. "I can summon something or cast fly." |
| #43orcy_the_green_wonderAug 20, 2008 23:34:05 | The second Avorio sighs and shakes her head. Twirling her clothing shirinks and all but disappears as her body expands and grows, arms becoming wings and her body becoming feathered and larger. Soon, a massive bird stands where the woman had, moments before. It turns it's beaked head and peircing eyes toward those not belonging to the Dogs of War. It's beak moves as if accustomed to speech, despite it's animalistic form. "Well... I must appoligize but he is correct, we will not likely need the assistance. If you can keep up then by all means, prove us wrong. However... I should warn you, Gix could likely be there and back already. Unless of course you can prove your worth before we're gone... which I am doubtful of at the moment... Ah, such is life!" The massive bird flaps it's wings, stirring up dust and grime, rising into the air and circling over the group, awaiting it's comrades. |
| #44NightScreamer20Aug 20, 2008 23:53:15 | This comment is accented as the kobold and his dragonfriend vanish in a silver streak towards the portal and then reappear, each drinking from a cup that reads 'Glennbuck's' on the side, the scent of french vanilla floats around the Gray Wastes... "...Mmmm... But yes... I mean unless you all have a mode of transportation comparable to ours... Honestly would it be in the best interest for us to slow ourselves down?" And with that there is a gasp as the Mercurial dragons drops his cups and spills it across the ground. "Blasphemy! Slow down!? We have a soul at stake here!" "Just another reason for you to go fast..." "...And...?" "You win this round... But seriously guys... I mean I'll be like... 18 seconds, there and back..." He points towards the red glow. "You won't..." "...Even miss us!" |
| #45captainsharAug 21, 2008 0:23:42 | Now might be a good time for a Knowledge (The Planes) or Knowledge (Religion) check. If you're interested in the red glow. |
| #46thefriendlysmile_dupAug 21, 2008 1:24:39 | Essux and Avorio take to the sky in a swirl of cinder that seems to ever emanate from Essux. They fall in to a tight circle above the group below and Avorio calls down but is cut off mid-sentence by the flash. "Why the talking? More action. Leave these dregs and let us get to the matter at hand..... ooooo pretty. Lets go there!" |
| #47gulienAug 21, 2008 1:28:32 | Taking to the sky as it were Fel looks to the red flash and finds himself ever ignorant of its nature. However Daken seems fixated upon it, he feels the knowledge deep within.... now if only it would come to the surface. Knowledge(Religion): 15 (1d20 15=34) |
| #48bookmenAug 21, 2008 6:17:08 | Val searches his mind for the information he seeks. Knowledge (Religion) (1d20+15) 19 Knowledge (the Planes) (1d20+29 ) 30 (I rolled a 1. ) |
| #49lady_rolindinAug 21, 2008 7:28:35 | http://forums.gleemax.com/leaving.php?destination=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1706466/ Knowledge of the planes 15 http://forums.gleemax.com/leaving.php?destination=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1706578/ knowledge relgion 18 Kord look at the others, "I can get to this light also fast, if you are worried about this portal then go ahead and go see if you can find Shar's soul then. Let them go, those who want to stay with me your welcome too then. Then good hunting to you." |
| #50NightScreamer20Aug 21, 2008 10:18:45 | Gix looks to the rest of the Dogs. *Slurp* "So... there's that large red glow..." *sip* "Now I don't know about you guys but I'm all for going over there and seeing whats up!" *sip* "...Mmmm aah" |
| #51captainsharAug 21, 2008 10:26:12 | Daken and Val Takk can remember something relevant. (I'll PM it.) It's hard to tell, but the red glow seems to be getting just a tiny bit closer. |
| #52bookmenAug 21, 2008 10:50:30 | Val begins carefully studying the portal and the surrounding committing to memory how everything looks. |
| #53aramar_the_blackAug 21, 2008 14:20:32 | Dory dips his head and whispers while holding out his hand to the side. Slowly, a hippogriff with reins of chain materializes beside him, nibbling at his hand. He leaps onto the creature's back and glances again at the others. The opinions seem unanimous. "Right. Let us take flight towards the light" |
| #54orcy_the_green_wonderAug 21, 2008 19:06:31 | "Yes... to the red light! Dogs of War, follow me!" The being, currently a massive hawk-like creature, flaps it's mighty wings and begins toward the light. A few moments later whirrling in the air and turning the opposite direction, away from the light, and starting in that direction swiftly. It's wings carry it at speeds not unlike that of a dragon, traveling easily twice the distacne a horse could cover in the same time... away from the light. |
| #55bookmenAug 21, 2008 19:48:49 | At this point Val is unsurpirsed by the Dogs of War contuniued rudeness so the Mage simply stands waiting for everyone else to get ready and make their choice. |
| #56captainsharAug 22, 2008 18:27:44 | The bird notices that, from the air, the red disturbance seems to spread out for quite a distance. |
| #57NightScreamer20Aug 22, 2008 21:45:39 | "Alright that's it then! To the red... thing!" Mach and Gix begin to rise into the air with their brethren. |
| #58gulienAug 23, 2008 0:48:05 | With an interest of his own Daken takes off towards the red light. Fel slightly taken aback by the sudden lack of control just goes with it trusting in his partner. |
| #59orcy_the_green_wonderAug 23, 2008 0:52:47 | The bird looks back over his wing as the others fly in the opposite direction he was going. The great beast sighs and shakes it's head. "Do we need to be chasing red lights?" |
| #60NightScreamer20Aug 23, 2008 1:15:25 | Looking over his shoulder he winks to the other two and him and Mach vanish from sight rocketting forward. ((Casting invisisbility sphere)) |
| #61orcy_the_green_wonderAug 23, 2008 1:35:37 | The bird groans, tipping one wing and turning to rocket after the others, catching up to Fel as Mach and Gix vanish in a burst of rippling air. It turns it's head toward Fel and Daken. "I hope we aren't doing something foolish." |
| #62NightScreamer20Aug 23, 2008 11:59:00 | A voice whispers in his air and then a rush of wind surges past the changeling. "Ha! We'll be back before they figure out where they're going!" ((Mach and Gix are rocketting far ahead to scout, Gix casting an empowered shield spell on himself and then Mach)) |
| #63captainsharAug 23, 2008 14:05:56 | Below the Dogs of War spreads a vast battlefield. Demons on one side, devils on the other. The devils are advancing in orderly rows while the demons throw themselves at the advancing ranks with fury. It looks as though one of the nine levels of hell had decided to go to Hades for a change of scenery. |
| #64gulienAug 23, 2008 20:26:43 | Fel looks below and watches as the battle unfolds. He finds himself being more drawn to the strictly regimented formations of the devils as they fight the wild demons. "Gix! Is Shar amongst this battle? Do one of these demons or devils hold her?" |
| #65captainsharAug 23, 2008 21:01:28 | Fel can remember that Val Takk distinctly pointed in the opposite direction after using his spell to locate Shar. |
| #66NightScreamer20Aug 24, 2008 1:20:26 | "Bah! Maybe we can lure them away and into our fellow travellers... I mean..." Gix coughs as Mach chuckles. "Gix just wanted to check out the red light... I can't blame him... shiny red thing..." They turn almost fluidly in the air... if anyone could see them. "Alright fine! We'll save "Fun with Fiends" until after we rescue the Captain..." "The Captain that's only here because you can't aim..." |
| #67orcy_the_green_wonderAug 24, 2008 10:05:25 | The large bird spins in the air, tipping a wing down and heading back the way it had originally been going. It grumbles slightly but flaps it's wings and takes off back in the other direction."Yes... we have something to do, and I don't care to fight an army of fiends, at least... not at the moment... as a bird... So lets find the captain, rescue her, gain her undying gratitude and love for us, her saviors. Its a lot more than slaughtering a massive army of the hells and or abyss... in which case we would only gain... bodies." |
| #68NightScreamer20Aug 24, 2008 11:49:13 | ((Mach and Gix are rocketting.... in the other direction at full bore... 1,600 ft. fly speed...)) |
| #69bookmenAug 24, 2008 19:43:05 | ((Mach and Gix are rocketting.... in the other direction at full bore... 1,600 ft. fly speed...)) (How the bloody hades can he go so fast?:confused ![]() |
| #70NightScreamer20Aug 24, 2008 19:52:58 | (Just be glad he isn't diving... He goes Mach 1...) |
| #71captainsharAug 24, 2008 21:23:43 | Mach soon comes upon a stretch of river, with a figure at the edge, and a barge. |
| #72lady_rolindinAug 25, 2008 15:50:13 | back at the portal Kord looks to see who is left. |
| #73captainsharAug 25, 2008 16:15:25 | Kord, Val Takk, and Dory are still standing by the portal. If you guys don't want to miss the fun, you should start going towards the river! It'll take you a bit longer unless you can fly, but the alternative is to just stand around. |
| #74NightScreamer20Aug 25, 2008 20:26:21 | Turning amazingly fast Mach comes back up on the Dogs. "A river and a barge ahead... I'm no plane jumper but I have always heard of stories of the river Styx and the souls of the dead that required payment to the ferrymen to carry them across..." "Really? I've always learned is that when my spirit passes on it appears as a constellation in the sky with the rest of the great Dragon heroes..." Gix scratches his head and shakes it at his companion. |
| #75aramar_the_blackAug 25, 2008 23:36:24 | Dory and his Hippogriff steed Suulfar take off, flying towards the river. "No fight against Hell's light tonight. To do what we oughter, we should head for the water." says Dory, mostly to himself. Fly speed (at a run) is 400 ft. per round. |
| #76orcy_the_green_wonderAug 25, 2008 23:44:01 | 480ft fly speed ('running') The massive bird continues flying as Gix returns with mach. He looks toward the pair and nods his large head. "Ah... the ferryman. I've heard of him as well. This should be interesting..." |
| #77gulienAug 26, 2008 8:36:54 | Fel is confused by the need for a ferryman. "Why do we need a ferryman? We are riding dragons..." Daken laughs at his companions comment and looks back to him. "Touch" |
| #78NightScreamer20Aug 26, 2008 9:59:15 | They looks forward and they cruise the skies. "That Fel, I do not know if we can do... I mean crossing the river Styx without the ferryman? I have not heard such tales but... maybe..." |
| #79bookmenAug 26, 2008 10:21:34 | Val casts fly with a speed of 60 feet (I don't think I can make that go any faster )If I get nothing else out of this adventure I will atleast get a good IG reason why Val will be looking for a very fast mount and something else to nock his arrogance down a peg. ![]() |
| #80captainsharAug 26, 2008 20:23:18 | As people arrive at the river's edge one by one, some taking a few minutes, some taking several hours through the gray monotony, they see the water flowing. The bottom of the river is littered with copper coins. The ferryman is pale but solid, like a ghost would be if it somehow invented another body for itself. He is silent, staring at those before him. He stretches out a hand. |
| #81bookmenAug 26, 2008 21:28:21 | When Val finally arrives he lets no sign of his extreme displeasure over the fact that he was so slow show on his face. When he sees the ferry man and the coins he smiles. Now we will all be forced to the same speed. Good, this will give me more time to think of how to handle my speed problem. Val picks up two of the coins and moves forward to give them to the ferryman. After giving them to him he stands beside the boat waiting for everyone else. |
| #82captainsharAug 26, 2008 21:37:13 | The white fingers close loosely around the coins, and Val suddenly seems to be standing on the barge. The coppers chink through the white grasp and sink through the barge floor, to drop to the riverbed, shining dully among countless others. |
| #83gulienAug 26, 2008 22:18:13 | When Fel arrives with his compatriots he looks over the barge and the greedy looking ferryman. A look of disdain crosses his face and he spits. "A boat? A boat? We ride the children of a GOD and this comes to riding a boat? No this is foolish. Unless there is something FAR FAR more sinister than this gaunt man begging for change I will fly down this river to our destination." |
| #84NightScreamer20Aug 26, 2008 23:05:57 | Gix and Mach look towards Fel and Daken. "Brothers, I deplore you, take the Ferry with us. Not doing so would be a grave mistake I believe." "Yes Daken, we Dragons have nothing to fear but the loss of our riders... Believe me this is the safest route." Both Mach and Gix grant the man a few coins of copper for safe travel before entering the barge. |
| #85orcy_the_green_wonderAug 26, 2008 23:18:39 | The man's body shifts and changes into the red and black clad man called Jacob. His white hair spiked up yet again. He reaches into his bag and drops a pair of coins into the ferryman's hand. |
| #86aramar_the_blackAug 27, 2008 0:05:37 | Dory reaches into a belt pocket, finds a few coins, and hands them to the ferryman. |
| #87captainsharAug 27, 2008 17:54:45 | A gasp issues from the lips of the ferryman. I alone know the ways of these waters. The soul must be ferried, or become lost. |
| #88thefriendlysmile_dupAug 28, 2008 14:02:21 | Essux comes last of all. On her back as ever is the lovely Avorio, whose scaled hide glistens brightly in this land devoid of color. As she watches the others pay she gets the gist and pays her way and boards the barge. Seeing Fel still in the air being obstinate she gathers more pennies and hands them to the boatmen. "These are for my husband. Come now honey, wouldn't want to make everyone wait because you have issues with boats." Once she has paid she begins to sing. "Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with meeeeee." |
| #89captainsharAug 28, 2008 19:55:59 | Anyone who does not post by tomorrow evening will be assumed to be NOT on the barge. |
| #90gulienAug 28, 2008 22:13:00 | At the chiding of his wife and her sultry performance of a great song Fel begrudgingly lands and pays for Daken and himself. Walking up to Avorio he smiles and sings along with her siren song. |
| #91lady_rolindinAug 29, 2008 7:10:31 | Kord after seeing the others leaves takes out a tile and breaks it, he starts to fly following Val takk. He arrives and boards the boat and after seeing the others give the boat fearer gold, he gives him a sack of gold with 105gp in it. |
| #92aramar_the_blackAug 29, 2008 23:54:58 | Dory boards the barge, praying quietly to himself as he does so "May the gods grant heavenly angels to appear above our heads..." |
| #93captainsharAug 30, 2008 12:47:37 | The ferryman refuses the bag of gold, taking only two coins from it. The barge casts off. The ferryman turns his pole to the side here, touches it against a bank there, and the barge builds speed. The river becomes wider and deeper, though no visible streams flow into it. Its gurglings seem almost like sighs. (If anyone wants to do or say anything while you're on the barge, post it. Otherwise, proceed to) The river tumbles down a waterfall, not off a cliff, but into a sinkhole. Miraculously, it remains upright and no one even gets wet. Here it is more of a lake than a river, a huge slow-moving lake of water in an underground cavern. The ferryman is making for the far side. The light is dimming, but the faint outline of a tunnel appears on the far side of the cavern. Here is narrow. The watery tunnel stretches on for yards and yards, but just as the flow is fading from the gray light behind, a reddish tinge outlines some stripes against the far side of the tunnel. |
| #94gulienAug 30, 2008 20:23:58 | As the barge draws nearer to the far side of the cavern Fel begins to look about and make plans. Looking about he seems to only see the Dogs of War, ignoring the others. "Right then.... Avorio in front, Gix take middle. Jacob roving guard. I will take rear security. Let us be ready, we may yet run in to some old friends, all-mother knows we have sent our fair share to this place." |
| #95lady_rolindinAug 30, 2008 22:04:38 | Kord watches the dragon riders then looks at the others, "What do you think about this little quest, interesting is it not"he'll put the bag away then. |
| #96bookmenAug 31, 2008 1:46:39 | "We need to get a move on. I'd like to stay near the dragons, but they won't cooperate so we will have to count on our selves. The sooner we get in and the sooner we get out with the Captain the better." Val looks to the others as he talks and seems to not have heard Kord's statement. |
| #97captainsharAug 31, 2008 21:13:37 | The far end of the tunnel draws nearer. Spots and Listens, anyone? |

PMs forthcoming. *** From what little light you can see, you are still 100 feet from the end of the tunnel, with another 100 feet behind you; the tunnel is fifteen feet wide and ten feet high above the waterline; you're not sure how deep. I'll try to get a proper map up tonight or tomorrow. |
| #106captainsharSep 01, 2008 20:58:44 | ![]() Blue is the Styx, stripy is the gate, gray is the walls, blackish is openings in the wall. They are too shadowy to see down further (plus, the wall is in the way) You guys are exactly halfway down the tunnel, moving 5 ft. toward the grate every round. Oh, and the barge takes up 10X10; it's sort of magically the right size to fit everyone without being squeezed if you're on it, but if you leave it, it occupies a 10X10 space. |
| #107orcy_the_green_wonderSep 02, 2008 13:40:09 | Jacob rolls his shoulders and his form wavers for a moment. A few tentacles rise from behind him tipped with wicked barbs. His fingers elongate into claws and his mouth, when he smiles, seems filled with many sharp teeth. He flexes his claws and waits for signs of anything that might be hostile. |
| #108bookmenSep 02, 2008 13:51:46 | Seeing the Shapeshifter ready her, him, it self Val readies a spell in case of attack. Reading Magic Missile with all the benefits it gets from my classes. |
| #109NightScreamer20Sep 02, 2008 22:54:21 | Gix mounts Mach as he nods his head for him to get on and he speaks in Draconic to the rest of his fellows. "Ocuir thurirls! Artroth'usk'hurthi yth'ghoros!" ((Roughly translates into "Look brothers! The guardian stands before us!")) |

His tentacles lashing out around him. His body shifts and changes as he seems to adjust parts of it before the battle. Even a pair of curving horns sprout from his forehead. | #120captainsharSep 07, 2008 17:54:10 | The three-headed dog comes to the edge of the platform and thrusts its three flaming mouths in front of the barge. It sniffs. It smells fresh meat, something the ferryman doesn't bring often. It opens its three hungry mouths and bites. But you know what we have? We have four full dogs! Dogs of WAR, not just some foolish pup!" Daken laughs as well, a grating growl escaping his jaws as he bites, claws, and lashes with his tail at Cerberus. Daken: "Oh yes brother, nothing but a pup! The body instantly dissolves, and a ghostlike dog forms in its place. But, instead of flowing away with the river, it bounds out of the Styx again and scampers towards the end of the cavern... With the weight of the dog gone, the gates of Hades slide slowly up into the cavern mouth. OOC: Y'all can go forward, or chase the ghostly Cerberus to who knows where. |
| #137lady_rolindinSep 10, 2008 3:07:48 | Kord has something to say here thats been bothering him, " I have a question for everyone, does any one have a magical item to maybe trap Shar's soul if her soul refuses to come along? Did anyone get a bottle, box, gem or other soul trapping item from Glenn? I didn't, ???." He looks to Val Takk, "can you trap Shar's soul if is nessary to do so? Then release her soul next to her body? If none of us have such a device or the magical knowledge to do so I can go back to Glenn's shop and ask Glenn for one" |
| #138captainsharSep 10, 2008 20:18:09 | The barge drifts on under the gate, which slides shut again. Floating down the Styx, spirits are drawn to the live souls of the ten on the barge. Yet, they seem held back from touching the water, as if by an invisible wall. In the distance a screaming, sucking, slurping noise and hubbub fills the air. |
| #139NightScreamer20Sep 10, 2008 21:46:43 | "Forward Mach! Follow the beast!" Mach and Gix lunge forward into the cavern off the Barge, rocketting towards the "ghost" of Cerberus. "Come on Dogs, do you want to live forever!?" |
| #140gulienSep 10, 2008 22:03:46 | With an excited kick Fel spurs Daken forward and after Gix. For all of their ferocity and lethality, the Dogs of War seem easily distracted as they chase the ghost dog, or is there something else in their eye? Fel holsters his sword and draws his lance. "Lance Demon, prepare to fight a ghost, undead bane, and +1." Ordering my lance demon to be Ghost Touch, Undead Bane, and +1. Daken roars with glee as he follows the swift blurring form of Mach. "HERE POOCH!" |
| #141thefriendlysmile_dupSep 10, 2008 22:05:30 | Essux is in the air before she knows it, already anticipating the want of her rider. Avorio calls out from her back. "I want it Fel! I want a little three-headed puppy to call my very own!" |
| #142captainsharSep 10, 2008 22:32:15 | Roll new init. if you want; otherwise, I'll just use the old order. |
| #143orcy_the_green_wonderSep 11, 2008 18:33:04 | Jacob watches as the others run or rather, fly off after the ghost-like cerberus. He tilts his head but rather than follow remains on the boat, sighing annoyedly. "I swear if they chase one more shiney thing I'm eating them all in their sleep." |
| #144captainsharSep 11, 2008 21:56:17 | The three who chased Cerberus find themselves up against very solid-looking gates. (Where the orange is on the map.) The four on the barge continue down the sluggish stream. It seems to stretch on forever. |
| #145thefriendlysmile_dupSep 11, 2008 22:34:37 | Coming around the corner Avorio sees the gate and laughs. Looking ahead she calls out to Fel and Gix. "Move." When they have moved from the path she kicks Essux in the side and calls forward to her. "Show this ghost what we think of gates." Essux stomps her four clawed feet into the ground and a dark red light begins to glow from the lava-like markings all over her body. Opening her maw a white hot blast flies forward and the gates are no more, only a fine dust remains slowly falling to the ground. Essux is using her Disintegrate breath to blast away the gates. OOC: Sorry about the misunderstanding on my Frightful Presence guys, thanks Bookmen! Avorio is only 15hd, and Essux is only 12. |
| #146captainsharSep 11, 2008 22:50:49 | The gates crumble... and fire flares out of the room. DC 20 Ref. save 21 (10 half) |
| #147bookmenSep 11, 2008 22:57:00 | (OOC: Is that Ref save for all of us to do are just the Dogs of War? @Smile No problem. ) |
| #148captainsharSep 11, 2008 23:02:47 | Did you go chasing after the ghost, or are you on the barge going downstream? |
| #149thefriendlysmile_dupSep 11, 2008 23:18:48 | Avorio and Essux stand in the flames as if nothing is happening. Avorio noticably yawns in the flames. We are both immune to fire. |
| #150gulienSep 11, 2008 23:33:33 | Fel sees the flames coming at him and although resistant decides it better to seek cover behind Daken's flame-proof hide. Daken just laughs in the flames. Daken:"Fire Cerberus!? I WAS BORN OF THIS!" Dropping down in my saddle to gain cover from Daken. DC15... I have a +40. Reflex Check:1d20 17=25 After the reflex check I take no damage because of the 10 fire resistance from my armor. Oh, and Daken is a red dragon... so... yeah. |
| #151orcy_the_green_wonderSep 12, 2008 0:29:39 | Jacob flexes his muscles, crouching for a moment he rises and runs to the edge of the barge. He leaps into the air, jumping from the barge to the shore and turning to look toward the others. "Try not to get in my way." With those words his body shifts, with cracking and various other sounds, vanishing before the transformation is finished it seems. Changing forms and using my natural invisibility (of the form). |
| #152captainsharSep 12, 2008 11:57:29 | I'm waiting on a Ref. save from Mach and Gix. ** Several of the ghosts that had been staring greedily at Jacob as he left the barge appeared confused when he went invisible. They went to either side, nosing along the banks. But one stayed its ground, staring straight at him; its body unnaturally elongated and with enormous grasping hands. Roll Initiative. |
| #153orcy_the_green_wonderSep 12, 2008 12:57:22 | May eyes shift to look at the ghost as it reaches toward the creature they belong to. Four mouths groan and Jacob's voice comes from the thin air. "You have got to be kidding me." Initiative (1d20+2=12) |
| #154captainsharSep 12, 2008 13:32:32 | The creature stares for a moment at the grotesque Jacob. 7 You first. |
| #155orcy_the_green_wonderSep 12, 2008 14:05:52 | Jacob's monstrous form shifts and leaps backwards, flying quickly away from the thing reaching for him. Tentacles flail and the ship sinks a bit when the invisible form lands. "Ok... anybody know what that is?" Flying back to the barge. |
| #156captainsharSep 12, 2008 14:33:07 | Knowledge Religion all around! |
| #157bookmenSep 12, 2008 14:45:42 | 34 for my check. |
| #158lady_rolindinSep 12, 2008 14:52:34 | Then Kords check is this: 11 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1728631/ I think the dice roller don't like me today. Kord still would like to know if any one has such an item or not. |
| #159captainsharSep 12, 2008 15:07:30 | Val Takk makes the check. |
| #160captainsharSep 12, 2008 15:21:56 | Also, assuming the fire isn't going to bother Mach and Gix all that much, you can see the tail end of Cerberus disappearing into the wall at the far side of the flaming room. The wall is carved in bas-relief as three enormous dog heads. |
| #161orcy_the_green_wonderSep 12, 2008 18:28:10 | Once informed by Val-Takk what the creature is... four groans sound from nearby. A massive four mouthed mass of tentacles appears for a moment, it's form changing slowly. It's sword becomes a shining silver, a huge wavy blade sprouting from the haft. The creature flys forward and lands as it's body shifts into a large green form. Rippling muscles flexing and a large grin spreading across it's rough features, beneath it's large nose. "It... SMASHING TIME!" The war-troll flexes those large muscles, slashing at the creature before it with it's silvery sword. Attack/Damage (1d20+24=33, 3d6+19=33) |
| #162captainsharSep 12, 2008 18:37:55 | Hit The silvered weapon slides into the whispy undead and strikes a spark of light inside its dark heart. The creature floats upwards 30 ft. and focuses its glare on Jacob. Will Save DC 24 or paralyzed 2 rounds. |
| #163orcy_the_green_wonderSep 12, 2008 18:41:04 | Jacob looks upward, grumbling as the creature begins to fly. He is about to say something when his body freezes up. Will Save (1d20+12=19) Feel free to help folks. |
| #164NightScreamer20Sep 12, 2008 20:26:31 | Gix holds up his clawed hand and a shield forms around himself deflecting the fires away from him as Mach opens his wings and takes in the flame as if it were sunshine. ((Casting Energy Aegis granting me Fire Resistance... I don't know but it's at least 20. I'm posting from work so ya...)) After which he concentrates on the area in front of him, his eyes exploding in a blue glow revealing the workld in its true form around him. "Now what do we have here....?" ((Casting True Seeing)) |
| #165captainsharSep 12, 2008 20:55:42 | The entire room is obviously magical. The walls seem solid enough, though, and the floor continues to spit up flames. A deep growling comes from within the stones at the far side of the cavern. Can you guys tell me marching order? If you're in the passageway, there's no room for three abreast. |
| #166orcy_the_green_wonderSep 13, 2008 23:52:13 | Is anyone in Orcy's area of this Scenic hell-scape going to do anything, or shall we continue with initiative? |
| #167aramar_the_blackSep 14, 2008 1:10:53 | Why not. Dory's Initiative: 14 Also, how long has it been since we encountered the Cerebus? |
| #168lady_rolindinSep 14, 2008 3:13:01 | Kord will ask Val- Takk what it is they are facing. 23 Sorry been busy. I guess some times the dice do work? |
| #169thefriendlysmile_dupSep 14, 2008 16:50:38 | Keeping her eyes fixated on the wall Avorio gives Essux a nudge and the two begin to make their way into the firey room. Calling forward Avorio tries a tactic that those who know her have not seen all to much. She tries to talk. "Cerberus my dear! Stop this foolishness and talk to us! You attacked and we defended ourselves, so no need for a grudge. We seek to free you lovey! Wouldn't you like to be done of this wretched place? Free to taste the flesh of the living? Run the fields of the world above, burning them in your wake? We are the Dogs of War and we seek an alliance with you, you lovely lovely creation of the world-ravager." |
| #170captainsharSep 14, 2008 21:51:40 | Kord and Dory both find themselves able to act before the Nightwalker can pounce on their stricken companion. A word of warning to both of you - if you jump off of the raft and are visible, you will probably attract more ghosts. *** Avorio: Handle Animal? |
| #171thefriendlysmile_dupSep 14, 2008 22:19:12 | Diplomacy Check: Recruit Cerberus (1d20+6=7) OOC: OH YEAH! |
| #172captainsharSep 14, 2008 22:55:26 | "I must guard the gate," he growls. The stone dog melts and molds until it is Cerberus, live again and now plated in thick stone. He spits fire and hot stone splinters from his three mouths. Grrrowwwwwrrrrrr! He shakes his heads. Keeping init from before? Also, everyone can "spot" to see what happens to the stone before it forms up into the bas-relief again. |
| #173lady_rolindinSep 15, 2008 3:20:09 | use internal armor turn undead 18 10 hd turn undead |
| #174captainsharSep 15, 2008 9:38:03 | While the Paladin's turning has little effect on the Nightwalker, enough of the other ghosts are driven away from the barge that it should be safe to come ashore until the turning wears off. |
| #175bookmenSep 15, 2008 9:47:27 | Val Takk will give everyone a brief description of what the Nightwalker with the Ghost template is. "Lets be quick about this. We need to get Shar's soul and get back and no I don't know magic to trap souls. Never had a use for it." Val Takk moves to the shore and readies a spell to help take down anything that may attack him. (OOC: I don't have access to my books at the moment so he will just ready Orb of Force.) |
| #176captainsharSep 15, 2008 9:49:29 | No new initiative. The order is Cerberus Mach and Gix Fel and Daken Avorio and Essux Cerberus opens his mouths and breathes three cones of flame and molten rock, one after the other, at the closely-spaced group. Make three Ref. saves, each at DC 23. First: 9 fire and 13 magical bludgeoning; Second: 9 fire and 19 magical bludgeoning; Third: 8 fire and 13 magical bludgeoning |
| #177thefriendlysmile_dupSep 15, 2008 12:42:11 | Avorio is quick enough for the first torrent but the later two slam into her full force. Somehow the large bulky form of Essux is able to avoid the first two completely and the third slams into her. Avorio: Reflex Saves: Vs. Cerberus (1d20 11=25, 1d20 11=13, 1d20 11=17) Essux: Reflex Saves: vs. Cerberus (1d20 11=30, 1d20 11=23, 1d20 11=18) No fire damage taken. Avorio takes 39. Essux takes 7 because she has improved evasion. |
| #178gulienSep 15, 2008 12:55:30 | As the torrent of fire and rock comes flying at them Fel drops down in his saddle and takes cover against the much sturdier form of Daken, which allows him to avoid the brunt of most of the damage. Amazing considering that Daken is quick and dexterous enough to completely avoid any harm what so ever. Relfex Save: +2 Cover (1d20 17=29, 1d20 17=24, 1d20 17=23) Reflex Saves: Share Saving Throws w/Fel & Improved Evasion (1d20 15=27, 1d20 15=31, 1d20 15=34) Fel takes half from all. 0 fire 23 bludgeoning. Daken has Improved Evasion so he nixes it all. |
| #179lady_rolindinSep 15, 2008 14:17:35 | Kord will use call weapondarie first, he will call a warhammer of spirt slaying. He will after the battle then leave and go to glenns. "Lets do take care of this thing, then I'll go get something from glenn." do we need another intituive, if so then his turn will be used for the spirt war hammer to come to him. |
| #180orcy_the_green_wonderSep 15, 2008 15:52:25 | Orcy would like to note that Call Weaponry does not allow you to call a magical weapon with whatever properties you wish. It allows you to call a simple weapon that has an 'enhancement bonus' based upon how many PP you use. So Cally Weaponry cannot call a "warhammer of spirit slaying" whatever that might be. |
| #181aramar_the_blackSep 15, 2008 19:17:23 | "Nuts." Dory eyes the floating Nightwalker as he leaps off the boat and moves up with Jacob. He holds his large shield and massive warhammer defensively, ready to attack if the thing tries to get close again. Taking a full-defense action. Ac 30. |
| #182captainsharSep 15, 2008 21:36:12 | The Nightwalker hones in on its paralyzed prey and extends one of its enormous grasping ghostly fingers. It sucks a bit of life out of Jacob and into itself. 3 points of damage to INT. |
| #183orcy_the_green_wonderSep 16, 2008 15:59:56 | You non-paralyzed people are up Orcy believe. |
| #184captainsharSep 16, 2008 20:40:59 | Kord and Dory are up! Attack it while it's still in reach! |
| #185NightScreamer20Sep 16, 2008 23:04:13 | Mach and Gix attempt to dodge the flames and rocks Gix rising the same mystic shield against the flames but getting bludgeoned with the rocks. 1d20+8=12, 1d20+8=23, 1d20+8=19, 1d20+15=26, 1d20+15=34, 1d20+15=25 ((Mach takes 23 Bludgeoning damage and Gix takes 35 Bludgeoning)) Angered but knowing what his companions have in mind attempts something not of his nature. As he speaks he uses his draconic blood to heal his wounds)) "Now... we aren't here to kill you... we are here for our companion, please if you could just stand down we would surely leave you in peace." ((Bluff 30 and casting Undying Vigor of the Dragonlords healing for 41 )) While Mach attempts to locate any weak points in the enemy's armor or self, scanning the room with his keen draconic eyes. ((Spot 22)) |
| #186aramar_the_blackSep 16, 2008 23:12:18 | Dory steps forward and grunts, swinging his warhammer in an arc towards the ghostly monster. He follows through after the inital swing, attempting to inflict as much damage as he can. Full-attack with a Smite Evil attempt on the first swing. 34, 35, 19 Damage: 32, 25, 19 |
| #187gulienSep 17, 2008 1:40:55 | Fel and Daken move into the room and Daken begins to hover, holding any aggressive actions back and giving Fel a chance to speak. "Cerberus! Hear us out! We seek to free you and you spit fire and rock at us! Do you not tire of this place? Do you not lust after the taste of living flesh? We are the Dogs of War! With us you could be an unstoppable force, free to burn across an entire plane!" Handle Animal: -5, convince Cerberus to join us. (1d20 8=11) As he rider speaks Daken watches and sees the glimmering in the far wall before it reseals. Calling out in Draconic and pointing with his front claw he speaks to Essux. "Dusty! There, in the wall, something shined! It may be linked to this beast our riders are so interested in." Moving past Avorio and into the Cavern, hovering in the four square just above the entrance. Here. Warning: You need myspace to view this photo. Also, im in there, shirtless sometimes. |
| #188thefriendlysmile_dupSep 17, 2008 2:04:16 | Essux moves forward into the warmish room and looks to the point in the wall where Daken pointed, letting loose another white hot beam of destruction. Disintegrating the wall where Daken pointed! Avorio is waiting to see if anything is there. |
| #189lady_rolindinSep 17, 2008 3:25:38 | Kord then wil use his hammer trying a smith evil first. 27 30 damage? 11 +12 12 |
| #190bookmenSep 17, 2008 7:43:27 | Val, who before now has been holding back, lets loose one of his favorite spells sending it hurtling toward the Nightwalker. Casts Orb of Force at the Nightwalker. Ranged touch attack: 33 Damage (10d6+10): 45 Spell Res does not apply here. |
| #191captainsharSep 17, 2008 20:07:53 | In Cerberus's Bedroom: "Hrrrm? But, but... Hades say I no guard, me hurt. So, I let you go... I DO get hurt." This triumph of logic leaves Cerberus scratching an ear with his back foot, and Fel's handling does little one way or the other. The blast from Essux reveals a small red skull-shaped charm buried deep within the wall. Almost at once, however, the stone re-forms around it. (Make a DEX check DC 30 if anyone wants to snag the charm.) |
| #192captainsharSep 17, 2008 21:01:08 | Fighting the Nightwalker: The barge drifts down the river. Dory hits it once, and between his and Kord's holy power, they tear a ragged swath into the creature. Val Takk hits it full in the face with a force orb, and it shrivels into nothing. Congrats! You guys killed a Nightwalker! |
| #193orcy_the_green_wonderSep 18, 2008 1:09:22 | After another six seconds pass, the troll grunts and rolls his shoudlers, able to move once more. It's long-nosed face turns toward the others, looking them over slowly. "Hopin it'd kill meh before ya did sometin were ya? 'ope ya ain't tinkin ta be gettin meh killed down 'ere. If'n ya are, 'en I migh well be killin someone now eh?" The troll starts down the path, making it's lumbering way on deeper into hades. It stops after a few moments and grunts something faintly. "Good job." |
| #194captainsharSep 18, 2008 10:08:35 | The smaller ghosts that had been keeping their distance suddenly assume a renewed interest in the group (Turn Undead runs out after a minute). The barge and the ferryman are nearly out of sight now. But also, in the press of shifting incorporeal creatures, a thinning and a dark emptiness begin to be glimpsed ahead. |
| #195lady_rolindinSep 19, 2008 1:06:53 | Kord is going in use one of his tattoo's adding +8 to his ac. |
| #196captainsharSep 20, 2008 8:58:53 | In Cerberus' lair: Mach is up. On the shores of the Styx: The ghosts are swarming you again. Roll initiative. |
| #197aramar_the_blackSep 20, 2008 14:58:11 | Yep, the invisible castle dice hate me.. 1 |
| #198orcy_the_green_wonderSep 20, 2008 16:08:53 | Initiative (1d20+3=14) It does not hate orcy quite as much, but he still feels some hate. |
| #199lady_rolindinSep 20, 2008 19:16:05 | Intiative: 22 |
| #200NightScreamer20Sep 21, 2008 1:54:47 | Gix looks at the creature and tries to spin a more advanced tapestry of words. "No, no my friend, in fact if you leave with us to OUR keep you may Guard there and NOT get hurt! Don't you see? If you stay here than you WILL get hurt! So, clearly you must come with us!" Bluff 37 Mach prepares for defensive maneuvers if the Guardian attacks again. |
| #201gulienSep 21, 2008 3:27:15 | Hovering above the flames Fel watches Cerberus's confusion and attempts to soothe him into a more relaxed state. "What my compatriot says is true, we mean you no harm. We offer you freedom from your bondage, freedom from pain, and the freedom to see the world of the living. In time, as we age, you can return here and guard these gates, but only if it is YOU that wishes to do so. Travel with us Cerberus and know the extent of your powers so that you may never be defeated!" Handle Animal: Cerberus2 (1d20 8=28) OOC: Sweet, nat 20. |
| #202captainsharSep 21, 2008 20:14:14 | Sense Motive: 2 Looking from one to the other, the great dog tosses his heads and waggles his tail and the armor slides off and melds back into the wall. He scratches at the spot on the wall and whines. |
| #203captainsharSep 21, 2008 20:27:11 | 9 Seven swirling ghosts holding ancient staves and wands approach! Kord Jacob Ghosts Dory |
| #204lady_rolindinSep 22, 2008 3:51:48 | turn undead: 15 9 hit die creatures |
| #205captainsharSep 22, 2008 17:28:09 | The smaller hangers-on flee, and the seven ghost wizards flinch, but they do not turn back. Jacob is up. |
| #206orcy_the_green_wonderSep 22, 2008 23:53:28 | The massive form of 'Jacob' roars and swings it's massive sword. Hacking and slashing at the ghostly forms of the wizards around him, his last lunge forward brings magically enhanced jaws to bear against his foe. He knows that his attacks may not strike his opponents, but with their magic enhancing them he knows as well that there is a good possibility of it. Ghost Attacks (1d20+24=26, 1d20+19=26, 1d20+14=24, 1d20+22=42) Greatsword x3/Bite (3d6+19=31, 3d6+19=35, 3d6+19=34, 1d6+7=12) Attacks - Damage 26 - 31 26 - 35 24 - 34 42 - 12 (nat 20) |
| #207NightScreamer20Sep 23, 2008 9:29:45 | Gix nudges Mach's reins and they move directly next to the place where the great dog paws. "I wonder... Essux, eradicate this stone wall... I have a plan!" And with that the miniscule Dragon Rider prepares hs arcane energies to focus a small sphere of force beginning to form in his hands. ((I'm readying an action for when the Skull Charm appears i bubble it and myself in an Otiluke's Resilient Sphere after which I plan to remove the Charm from the wall, possibly with Mach's help)) |
| #208bookmenSep 23, 2008 10:13:10 | Val Takk focuses himself on the battle. Init: 14 (OOC: Sorry Exams got in the way of posting.) |
| #209orcy_the_green_wonderSep 23, 2008 14:18:11 | Since Jacob was on a 14 and he just went, orcy would say Val Takk is up now. |
| #210bookmenSep 23, 2008 15:47:56 | Val Takk unleashes another orb of pure force. Casts Orb of Force at the one of the Wizards. Ranged touch attack: 16 Damage (10d6+10): 45 |
| #211thefriendlysmile_dupSep 23, 2008 18:05:07 | Avorio quickly jumps off Essux and approaches Cerberus and starts touching him. Moving to the head she attempts to scratch one of the heads behind its ears. Essux now unburdened moves over to the wall and plants her feet blasting away a piece of the wall with the gout of raw energy she produces. Avorio:"Yes! You're such a good boy! Goood decision Cerby! No lets get you out there and save that trollop... or maybe I will just take you home. When was the last time you went for a walk?" |
| #212bookmenSep 23, 2008 18:08:52 | "We need to get moving people! Shar is counting on us." |
| #213captainsharSep 23, 2008 23:20:32 | Shores of the Styx: For the sake of sanity, I'll give the wizards numbers. You attack them in order unless otherwise specified. All but Jacob's first attacks hit. (You injured 2 and 3). Val Takk's force orb nearly kills the first one, and the third looks even more hurt after Jacob's two hits. The wizards are ALL going to cast Web. Please make 7 DC 15 Reflex saves, everyone. You can tell by their coordination that they are used to working together. Perhaps this is why they, relatively weak apart, have managed to survive here for so long. *ruff* Cerberus isn't sure about Avorio yet. Cerberus's Cave: You manage to extract the charm. It's a shining red skull, affixed to a stonelike yet flexible collar. The word "CERBERUS" is spelled out on it with studs. |
| #214gulienSep 24, 2008 0:12:21 | Fel looks to their new ally and salutes Cerberus. Nudging Daken they move in to the hallway and Fel removes his helmet for a moment to wipe the sweat from his brow, the heat of the room bothering him more than his companions. "Welcome to the Dogs of War, Cerberus. Come, we have a mission to finish yet. Avorio take point, Gix if you would be so kind as to remain in the middle, and I will take up rear security. Let us catch up with the others, no telling what kind of trouble our Brother has gotten himself into." When the others have moved Fel will take up rear security and make way back to the barge. |

| #220orcy_the_green_wonderSep 24, 2008 17:07:45 | If I am right all 7 spells are asbored by his ioun stone circling his head. Unfortunately no. The ioun stone requires a readied action to absorb a spell but otherwise works like the rod of absorption. The rod (and thus the stone) can only absorb spells with a single target, such as a ray or say charm spell. Also, this Dog can get himself easily out of a web. Despite being caught in it at this particular time. |

Next, the five remaining wizards each back up from the webbing and cast Ice Storm.50 bludgeoning and 46 cold damage. And Val Takk is up. If Val Takk is dead, Dory is up, and then the Dogs can join. |

| #252captainsharOct 04, 2008 21:41:46 | Avorio and Essux let loose with stinking burning fury, but their breaths appear curiously non-ethereal when it comes to the ghosts, so, the ghost wizards laugh it off. | #266orcy_the_green_wonderOct 08, 2008 0:58:11 | ((We're going to hang on to those initiative numbers for a little bit, so keep track of them for Orcy.)) A figure appears walking slowly toward the assembled party. Slender and very feminine, she appears in the dim gray light as she passes a crack in the walls. Some recognize the figure of shar in that moment, gaunt and pale, with little substance to her body. A haunting song fills the air as she begins to sing. A slow haunting dirge... "Lost in darkness complete and deep, Forever shrouded, eternal sleep. Forsaken by all I loved... Forsaken by all I hate. Here I rest and cannot roam, This darkened place I now call home. I point my finger, justice doth call, To punish those who brought my fall. Let forlorn souls call and grasp, Hear the dead man's final rasp. Reach for port you'll never make, For your soul this land will take." The song is accompanied by music, played by those who are not there. The music floats on the air, mournful and as insubstantial as the woman who sings. Her voice is slightly distorted, not matching with the movements of her mouth. A cold, dead look is evident in her eyes... ((Orcy needs him some spot checks. Post up your results along with immediate reactions if you would like. | #275NightScreamer20Oct 09, 2008 9:26:58 | Gix turns to Fel. "Yes, cause we all know I'm amazing at the study of undead! I have absolutely no clue!" He gives half a tug on Mach's reins and he snaps his wings and they go upward into the air. "Brothers, I hope you have some sort of plan!" |
| #276orcy_the_green_wonderOct 09, 2008 23:44:26 | One of Jacob's heads lowers itself and growls out words in a deep gravely voice. The other eleven narrow their twenty two eyes at the creature that approaches the group. "That is not Shar. I am not sure what that thing is, but it is not the woman we traveled with." One of the other heads begins speaking as the first stops. "Speak they name creature! Who are you to wear the Captain's image?" |

Even if he were not... how might one ready an action before combat has begun? Orcy asked that you keep in mind your initiatives because we are going to be using them.)) The figure stops where it is, looking toward the assembled party. The Dogs of War, and those that travel with them. The tendrils are now visible to all those assembled, writing madly behind the womanly form of the monster before the party. The eyes of the ghostly figure shine brightly for a moment as it slips into a predatory crouch. "I..." It's voice comes slowly, shar's at first but another joins in. "I..." More voice speak alongside the others an a chorus of pained voices speak. "I will... devour your souls..." The creature moves with a swiftness that is surely unnatural. It leaps clear across the battlefield in a single bound, charging toward the flanks of the party. In mid air it's form changes to that of a large, muscled man, a steel greatsword lifting from the river styx to place itself in his hand. Pieces of scattered metal fly out to encase his body in a thick layer of full plate. The souls of the land seem to scream as the creature leaps to action. It lands before Dory and one of it's tentacles lashes out at him. Another reaches for Kord and a third for Jacob. It's final tendril reaches toward Val-Takk, a hungry look in the creature's eyes when it sees him. Three of the four tendrils strike their targets, only 'Jacob' is spared the painful touch of the creature. Dory takes 4 damage from negative energy and suffers 1 negative level. Kord takes 1 damage from negative energy and suffers 1 negative level. Val-Takk is struck by a tendril and it immediately begins wrapping around his ghostly form. He needs to make an opposed Grapple (Beat a 34). Strength and the like is included since both are incoporeal. The thing's head snaps in Avorio's direction, tentacles thrashing about. It's eyes narrow within it's helmet and flash a bright red just as Jacob's lumbering form turns and blocks it's view for the moment. Twelve heads shift and look down, all of them lashing out at once and trying to tear into the thing's ghostly body with their magically enhanced jaws. Five sets of his jaws manage to tear into the creature's ghostly form, ripping ectoplasmic bits from it's body with each bite. Heads ripping in different directions and jaws dripping for a moment before the magic fades and the bits fall. Essux has no idea what the creature is... That puts Dory up. |

Four tentacles lash out, two striking at the hulking form of Jacob, One striking at the paladin, Kord. The final reaches for Dory, but that is not all it has in store for him. Hefting it's greatsword the creature slashes. It's first strike cuts deep into the man's body, slicing through his side and leaving a large wound. The second and third strike just as true but do not cut as deeply. It's tentacles strike all that they target and drain the life energy of everyone they strike. It seems to grow more substantial and brighter, appearing stronger with each enemy it strikes. Dory takes 37 damage from the first attack, 19 from the second, and 20 from the third (from it's greatsword). Dory takes 7 negative energy damage from the tentacle and one negative level. Kord takes 6 negative energy damage and one negative level. Jacob takes 21 negative energy damage and two negative levels. Val-Takk is up, but he is in a bubble. He can try to dispel it but for now we shall move to Gix. If bookmen would like to try and break out he may act whenever. Eater of Souls: 22 Val Takk: 21 Gix: 20 Kord: 20 Avorio: 15 Jacob: 11 Dory: 5 Fel: 4 |
| #295NightScreamer20Oct 15, 2008 1:26:43 | Gix slices the air like a blade as another sword of force appears and slashes against the eater of souls as his other hand swipes at the air and closes in a tight fist which creates a large bubble of force. Sword attacks 40, 35 Sword damages: 37, 39 ((Casting Crushing Sphere and another Empowered Mordenkainen's Sword; Eater must makes a Reflex save DC 26 or be trapped within the sphere)) |
| #296bookmenOct 15, 2008 15:40:18 | (OOC: How is the sphere stopping all my casting? Couldn't I cast Mordenkainen's Sword or summon monster or something and have them appear outside the sphere?) |
| #297gulienOct 15, 2008 20:07:08 | Line of Effect OOC: you dont have line of effect because you are in a force effect bubble. |
| #298NightScreamer20Oct 15, 2008 23:50:00 | Ya, sorry bout that Bookmen, but least you can't be touched either. |
| #299bookmenOct 16, 2008 1:19:37 | (OOC: Don't worry that works for me. Having my PC not die, again, is better then him being able to cast a spell or two and then die, again.:D ) |
| #300orcy_the_green_wonderOct 16, 2008 1:48:02 | The eater of souls seems to fade then re-appear a short distance from where it had been, avoiding the sphere that Gix tries to summon around it. The blades of force slash into it's etherial body however, just as a physical sword might. Kord then Avorio. |
| #301lady_rolindinOct 16, 2008 23:08:03 | 20 if damage 9 2nd attack 24 10 3rd attck 20 10 if dam |
| #302thefriendlysmile_dupOct 17, 2008 11:21:54 | Staying on the fringes of the battle Avorio and Essux bide their time, waiting for a chance to strike. Delaying. |
| #303orcy_the_green_wonderOct 18, 2008 14:26:00 | Jacob roars, bending his heads down he snaps his heavy jaws at the monster's body. Each head tears into the ghostly image, most passing through it's un-armored sections. Only three of his heads manage to rip into the creature's body this time, causing it a great deal of pain still. ((Dory is up.)) |
| #304aramar_the_blackOct 18, 2008 19:23:40 | Emitting a few choice orc phrases, Dory rises out of his body. Grasping his ethereal hammer in silvery hands, he take yet another swing at the enemy, growling the whole time Hmm..a 31. Something tells me I failed to hit again. |
| #305gulienOct 19, 2008 1:03:09 | Again Fel spurs Daken forward leveling his lance on the Eater of Souls. Fel Attack Roll: vs Eater of Souls (1d20+26=42) Daken Attack Roll: vs. Eater of Souls (1d20+27=31) Fel Weapon Damage: Spirited ChargeX3, Tremendous Charge, 2d6Charging, 2d6 Bane (6d6 2d6 2d6 48=73) Daken Weapon Damage: Bite (4d6 8=22) Fort Save: Tremendous Charge (DC 8) (1d20 22=40) Charging at, and past, the Eater of Souls. Daken's Bite is considered magic because of his Jaws of the Dragon. |
| #306orcy_the_green_wonderOct 19, 2008 17:49:19 | The eater of souls screams, it's body fading and collapsing in on itself. The creature becomes a small dot before bursting in a brilliant flash of light. It seems that it is gone and destroyed... for a moment. After this moment has passed however, a screaming echoes through the air and a new body forms, shar appears, the four tendrils waving around behind her. A smirk spreads across her face as she rolls her shoulders and clenches ghostly fists. If you have taken a negative level, please remember to include the cumulative -1 to hits/saves/skills and the reduction in spells. Before Orcy takes his turn, he will note that Avorio must act now or her delay doesn't really do anything. He also needs to know how far Fel intends to move. |
| #307thefriendlysmile_dupOct 20, 2008 15:26:53 | Im not gonna do anything. |
| #308orcy_the_green_wonderOct 21, 2008 0:59:30 | The shar-like creature smirks, fading backwards and disappearing into the wall behind her. The four tendrils surrounding her snake out and stab into it's previous targets once more. The faint tendrils draw forth the life-energy of their targets once again, sucking the very souls from it's victims. Dory takes 7 negative energy damage. Kord takes 6 negative energy damage. Jacob takes 17 negative energy damage. Everyone struck takes 1 negative level (Jacob takes two from being hit twice). To note: The creature is inside of the wall now. Val-Takk is up, then Gix. |
| #309bookmenOct 21, 2008 9:20:43 | (OOC: O.K. I'm not to good with Casters. Is there a way to Dispell the sphere without knowing the Dispell magic spell? I seem to have made the mistake of not giving that to Val Takk.) |
| #310orcy_the_green_wonderOct 21, 2008 10:19:06 | ((Using a spellcraft check (Orcy rolled one for you) Val-takk can determine that casting Disitigrate on the sphere would destroy it.)) |
| #311bookmenOct 21, 2008 15:47:57 | (OOC: Thank you Orcy. Val Takk will cast Disintegrate and then move back, full fly speed, away from the Eater of Souls.) |
| #312NightScreamer20Oct 23, 2008 1:46:37 | Gix waves his arms and drawing a large azure pentagram in the air in front of him he snaps his fingers and it explodes into dozens of shimmering blue stars all of which streak towards the enemy below as the blades of force continue to attack the creature. Attack rolls 31, 45 Damage rolls 33, 40 Total of 213 damage; first 21 are Empowered ((Casting Greater Arcane Fusion as a swift action in order to cast an Empowered Magic Missile and an Arcane Fusion spell in order to cast an Empowered Magic Missile and a Magic Missile spell; also casting an Empowered Arcane Fusion in order to cast an Empowered Magic Missile and a Magic Missile spell, all targetting it.)) |
| #313NightScreamer20Oct 23, 2008 2:50:32 | ((I would also like to ask where these walls are upon the shores of the open River Styx, being that we landed and the Barge left and we are no longer in the tunnel but an open area. Unless it changed somehow. A map would be helpful in order to continue.)) |
| #314orcy_the_green_wonderOct 23, 2008 19:50:22 | ((As orcy understands it, we are in the Underworld. Which would suggest being underground, and he has thus set things up... underground. He noted earlier caverns and tunnels from which the Eater of Souls came.)) |
| #315NightScreamer20Oct 23, 2008 21:52:43 | ((Well I assumed otherwise because...Beyond the gate, the inside of the realm appears much like the outside. Blackened trees, stunted bushes, and wasted ground dominate the landscape. To draw an encounter map for the Underworld, use the guidelines for a Sparse Forest, but replace any undergrowth with light rubble. This of course is describing what is behind the bronze gates and Cerberus on the shores of the River Styx. That description coupled with... It leaps clear across the battlefield in a single bound, charging toward the flanks of the party. So I imagined a large open battlefield of sparse trees and ground.)) |
| #316orcy_the_green_wonderOct 24, 2008 14:06:04 | Alright, Orcy was a bit mistaken and apparently ill informed of the battlefiled before the party (in fact, he does not recall being told what the place looked like). So, instead of a wall... its in a tree. Here is a map of the area... Goldish is Dory, Blue with the R is Rolindin's Kord, Big purple thing is Jacob, The big green thing is avorio, and the darker blue is Gix. The red arrow way off the map is the excessively move speed happy Fel. The little dark gray/black square is the eater of souls inside of a gray bleak tree.![]() |
| #317NightScreamer20Oct 25, 2008 9:46:37 | ((That's not fair, I'm the one with the excessive move speed!!)) Gix, suddenly changing his magic whips his hands shattering the star before him forming it into a sickly green ray that burns from Gix's outstretched finer blasting into the tree. The swords chasing after and slicing the creature. He then charges a spell for when the next attack hits the creature. ((Using damage roll from the Sword attacks above)) |
| #318orcy_the_green_wonderOct 26, 2008 22:19:21 | The little kobold's ray bursts into the tree and renders it dust quickly. The blades slash into the flesh of the eater of souls and rip apart more of it's ethereal body. As the blades hack into the shar-creature, it howls in pain. Eater of Souls: 22 Val Takk: 21 Gix: 20 Kord: 20 Avorio: 15 Jacob: 11 Dory: 5 Fel: 4 Kord is up. |
| #319lady_rolindinOct 27, 2008 4:04:38 | attack 32 2 attack 27 3rd attack 17 [url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1786849/]4th attack 10 [/ur] if damage? 15 8 3rd and 4th if miss do let me know, that is why no damage roll. |
| #320orcy_the_green_wonderOct 27, 2008 9:37:33 | Only Kord's first attack will be used as he is not next to the creature. He is more than 5ft away and can either charge or walk up to it and take an AOO. |
| #321orcy_the_green_wonderOct 29, 2008 0:00:40 | Avorio is up, Orcy will take Rolindin's silence as not changing anything. As Kord approaches, a tendril whips out and strikes at him. The ghostly appendage strikes him hard. 13 damage to Kord. |
| #322thefriendlysmile_dupOct 30, 2008 0:17:30 | Moving swiftly Avorio guides Essux to the right position and lines up two trees. Essux braces her self and from her toothy maw a line of white hot destruction blasts forward. Striking one tree and then the second moments later there is nothing but dust. Moving to where my green block's upper left square would be in the same square as Kord, but 10 ft up. Using disintegrating breath on those two trees. Breath Weapon: 1d4 wait (1d4=3) |
| #323orcy_the_green_wonderOct 30, 2008 2:38:43 | Jacob roars, stepping toward the creature his heads bend and lash out. He is wounded, and his body has taken a good deal of punishment, as has his soul. Each head bends down and snaps at the eater of souls however. Five of his twelve heads close around something solid with their magical jaws. Each ripping into the thing that was posing as shar. Dory is up, then Sir-charge-a-lot. |
| #324NightScreamer20Oct 30, 2008 14:53:50 | As his brother in arms strikes Gix releases a half-hearted burst of magical energy sending seven silvery comets into the creature. 33 Damage Total ((Casting an Empowered Magic Missile when Jacob lands his hit)) |
| #325aramar_the_blackOct 30, 2008 15:58:51 | Dory drifts forward silently, swinging his hammer with a vengence. Warhammer Full Attack: 40, 29, 19 Critical Threat Roll [if it matters]: 25 Damage Roll: 26 |
| #326gulienOct 30, 2008 21:54:51 | Fel smiles as his lovely wife clears the way for his charge as Daken flaps his mighty wings and they shoot forward. Leveling his lance on the Eatter of Souls he charges again. Fel Attack Roll: vs Eater of Souls (1d20 26=32) Fel Damage Roll: vs Eater of Souls (6d6 2d6 2d6 48=81) Daken Attack Roll: Bite vs Eater of Souls (1d20 27=38) Daken Damage Roll: Vs. Eater of Souls (4d6 8=20) Fort Save: Lance Tremendous Charge dc8 (1d20 22=23) Charging at and past the eater of souls. Stopping before I hit those trees. Also swearing loudly in words I'd rather not type as I would be banned from the boards. Because yes, it i has happened, my lance has shattered. If I hit, if I didnt then hail Tiamat, did I hit Orcy? |
| #327orcy_the_green_wonderOct 31, 2008 2:13:21 | The combined strikes of the Dogs of War and a pair of Dory's blows finally shatter the creature. The shar-like creature screams loudly, an ear-shattering sound that rips into the hearts and souls of all those present. Before the scream fades, the body of the being shatters like glass, falling to the ground in ethereal pieces before slowly melting away into an odorless smoke. Screaming forms of souls are released as the creature shatters, flying in various directions out into the landscape of the underworld, some heading towards the gates with it's guardian missing in action. |
| #328gulienOct 31, 2008 14:09:25 | As the souls fly Fel takes no notice. All he sees is his poor poor lance. Still holding the broken handle he looks upon it and remembers all the good times they had together. So much death! So many battles! Beneath his helmet a single tear falls. Then from the pieces of the lance an energy pulses and flows outwards and before him is the demon. Unsheathing his Greatsword he holds it out towards the demon. Fel:"Come on little guy, we'll have you back in another lance in no time." Daken:"Oh for the love of.... You are HONESTLY upset over the loss of a WEAPON! I had to bite A GHOST! Do you have any idea how BAD ectoplasm tastes!? HUMANS! Ugh, lets get out of here, I need to cleanse my gullet with the blood of a hundred orphans." Fel:"B-but... my lance..." Daken:"Pity party. OVER. Orphans. Blood. Me. NOW." With his pity party so rudely interrupted Fel looks around and tries to see if amongst the souls Shar has been set free. |
| #329captainsharOct 31, 2008 20:37:03 | One of the fragments is purple and orange. |
| #330orcy_the_green_wonderNov 01, 2008 0:20:32 | Jacob groans once the battle is over. His heads each turn to a different member of the group. The extras focusing in on Dogs of War. "Can we leave this accursed place now? I am drained... and quite annoyed by the sting of that beast." |
| #331NightScreamer20Nov 01, 2008 12:44:53 | A silvery streak flies after the orange and purple shard. "Hey you! Ya! You! Come back here!" |
| #332captainsharNov 02, 2008 15:27:26 | Yelling seems to have little effect. Mach and Gix have caught up to it. |
| #333NightScreamer20Nov 02, 2008 22:03:07 | "Aha!" Mach attempts to grasp the shard. Attack Roll 1d20+16=25 |
| #334captainsharNov 03, 2008 16:17:59 | Is Mach's hand a magical attack or equipped with Ghost Touch in some way? |
| #335bookmenNov 04, 2008 5:00:59 | If Gix's attempt doesn't work then Val Takk will put a Sphere up around the shard like Gix did to Val. |
| #336captainsharNov 04, 2008 21:24:24 | The force sphere snares the Shar shard. (doesn't that sound like a tongue twister?) |
| #337gulienNov 06, 2008 16:41:45 | Seeing things coming to a close Fel looks about and flies to Val Takk's body. Grabbing it he throws it onto the back of Daken and then mounts again himself. "Back to the world of the living then?" |
| #338bookmenNov 06, 2008 18:35:38 | Val Takk follows his body keeping to the side of the dragon. "Yes, let us get the Captain back and then I can get to work on a solution to my situation." Val seems to act ...oddly as he speaks. He seems to have the kind of focus one only find in the insane, but even stranger is the feeling that he is trying to ignore exactly what his situation is while still focusing on the need to solve it. (OOC: Dagnabit. I don't like the way that post turned out but I can't think of a better way of doing it without making it at least twice as long. I need to get more experience with describing the slightly insane.) |
| #339orcy_the_green_wonderNov 06, 2008 18:43:14 | Jacob's body shrinks slowly until it is in the form of a man once more. He approaches Avorio and bows slightly despite his wounds. "If you would not mind, a ride would be appreciated. I do not know if I've the strength to fly myself at the moment. It feels as though my soul has been ripped and rent..." |
| #340lady_rolindinNov 06, 2008 20:45:59 | Kord will go to where Jacob and Avorio, then reach in his pouch. Hw offerer a tile to Jacob "Take this then it can help you to fly." |
| #341captainsharNov 07, 2008 14:27:55 | The ghosts, after such a display, do not seem too keen to approach the party. The way is clear back to the shore of the Styx. Cerberus jumps out of the water and shakes water all over the party. It feels nasty. |
| #342bookmenNov 07, 2008 14:43:58 | Val smiles for a moment realizing he can't get wet. He then frowns when he sees his body covered in the water. |
| #343lady_rolindinNov 08, 2008 19:36:01 | "Yes lets do head back" Kord says to the others. |
| #344thefriendlysmile_dupNov 09, 2008 16:02:29 | Avorio looks at Jacob in his injured form and smiles. Dropping a gauntleted hand down she reaches out for him. "Hop on big-guy, accept no trinket. You fly Essux Inter-planar Air today! Please keep all hands, feet, tentacles, and other odd appendages inside the saddle area at all time.... lest they be nipped off by a hungry dragon!" When her injured friend has mounted Essux begins to fly off towards the portal back to Glenndria. |
| #345NightScreamer20Nov 09, 2008 18:49:57 | ((May I ask how we're moving the Soul?)) |
| #346captainsharNov 10, 2008 12:23:26 | Inside Val Takk's force sphere. As you leave the Underworld, you notice ghosts drifting out as well. Cerberus, however, doesn't seem to care, being too busy following his new "friends." You can head towards the gate now if you want. |
| #347orcy_the_green_wonderNov 11, 2008 10:56:29 | Jacob mounts up on Essux and gazes down as they fly toward the gate that had brought them here. He seems concerned at the sights below him. "The dead are leaving their hell... this is not a good thing. It may not be the best of ideas to take the guardian with us if it will unleash the denizens of the underworld." |
| #348NightScreamer20Nov 11, 2008 14:40:03 | Gix struck with genius realizes the flaw of this plan. Quickly he flies over towards the force bubble. "Now then, see here? This sphere?" A green flash of light and the bubble seems to pop. "Problem with bubbles is that they can't be moved! But..." He opens his hand and around the soul a small blue and silver chest envelopes it. He then picks it up and places it in Mach's saddlebag. "That will do much better, smaller, and it can move!" "Ah little brother, your arcane masteries astoud to catch even me off guard!" MAch chuckles to himself and they swoop through the Gate and back to the little shop, Gix loves a little shop. |
| #349lady_rolindinNov 11, 2008 18:37:17 | Kord will pick up Vals body and use the fly tile to go through the portal to the shop, "come on Val, maybe Glenn can help you." |
| #350NightScreamer20Nov 11, 2008 18:57:25 | Kord will pick up Vals body and use the fly tile to go through the portal to the shop, "come on Val, maybe Glenn can help you." ((Fel and Daken already have his corpse)) |
| #351bookmenNov 11, 2008 19:05:52 | ((Fel and Daken already have his corpse)) (OOC: Correct, but thank you Lady Rolindin. We'll just remove the picking up my corpse part and leave the rest as is.) |
| #352captainsharNov 14, 2008 20:40:26 | The red glow of seems to have faded into the distance. The gate is still there. |
| #353NightScreamer20Dec 10, 2008 15:03:13 | Gix and Mach fade back into existance. "Holy cow!" "Did we just...?" "I think we did!" "So that's what happens when you go too fast?" "Apparently! I mean..." "Ya. Wow." "Can we not do that again?" "I do feel a little sick..." "Ya. Ya. Let's take a break." "I'm a tid bit hungry, I'm gunna go rustle us something to snack on." "Ya, of course!" "You want anything inparticular?" "No. No. Just something meaty." "Chicken or pork?" "No beef?" "Ya I bet I can pull up some beef somewhere." "Beef sounds good." "Alright, be back in a moment. Oh and I think Fel wants you." "Oh? Oh! Hey. No no. Put it back." |
