Released for public play Jan 28, 2010:

CORE-1 Killing the Messenger
CORE2-2 Rising of the Dark
SPEC2-1
ADCP2-1 The Paladins’ Plague
DALE2-1 Forever
MOON2-1 Darkness Falls over Moray
WATE2-1 Gilding a Noble
IMPI2-1 Goblins from Below
CORM2-1 For Crown and Kingdom

I'm sure we'll get a full list of Q1 2010 adventures once DDXP is over and the RPGA people don't have it hanging over their heads.

Released for public play Jan 28, 2010:

Not quite. Released at DDXP is not equal to being released for public play. None of those mods is in the ordering system atm.

Interestingly, CORE2-3 High Infidelity -does- appear to be in the DB.

Holy cow. Um, that's a first. I didn't even know that it was released and... I wrote it.

Oh well... enjoy!

Regarding that question, Chris Tulach said yesterday (Thursday) at DDXP D&D Organized Play seminar,

The Q1 schedule would be posted as soon as he had a solid list.  I think he meant the Global Admins were okay with what they could deliver when.

In response to a question, most of the LFR adventures that premiered at DDXP would be in the public play release within two weeks.  I know some of the PDFs & final edits might have been a little quick, so the Global Admins may take the opportunity to do another final check before they are loaded into the database.

Chris specifically mentioned loading CORE2-3 into the database,

[teasing]  I think he muttered something about the author...what was it?

Has there been any mention of when we would be seeing some of the overdue modules, or how the three-month lag time between public/private release will be implemented?

Regarding overdue adventures, the rule originally mentioned by Sean Molley is still in effect: no date will be forecasted for those who have missed their milestones significantly.  They will be out when they are completed.  So consider them to be future surprises.

The three month lag between public and private play--not discussed.  Since it is very similar to the previous way the RPGA distributed adventures for many years, the system will have one date for events entered in the WPN public play side, and another date for the home play side.  I am not under the impression that should be complicated.

Hopefully next week one or more the Globals will virtually appear and explain in more detail.  Those at DDXP (Sean, Greg, and Pieter, and former Global Shawn) are all orchestrating the first running of the BI right now.

Which rocked. I don't know what rewards will vanish from future replays, but I did not get any super-special one-time magic item reward, so I don't think we need to worry about that. Most of the story awards were interesting flavor stuff, of the variety suggested as a reasonable one-off. One had some mechanical effect, but not something which would make a character more powerful in combat or in skill challenges -- if that's a one-off, I don't think it's an unreasonable perk.

And the adventure and atmosphere were great. Please do more of that. Refining the DM selection process for these might be good, but whatever, first time for LFR so how would you know who can run this kind of mod properly and who might have some difficulty?

Greetings...

I have posted the Q1 2010 LFR release schedule over on our blog:

community.wizards.com/lfr/blog/2010/02/0...

In a departure from past practice, we've decided to go ahead and try to forecast new release dates for the adventures that are in the unreleased backlog.  If we can hit these new dates (and we are making some behind-the-scenes changes in order to improve on that account) then we will be caught up by the end of Q1.

In any event one of our goals is to improve the transparency and communication around adventures, even if the news is bad; so if an adventure is not going to be released on schedule, we will let everyone know that and update the schedule accordingly.

BALD1-5 Lost Refuge

An unseen menace lurks in the Cloak Wood. The common folk of the villages and logging camps along the perimeter of the forest have begun to vanish. The forest is filled with beasts, monsters, and vicious fey. And if that wasn’t enough, the investigation just might end up involving you in an ancient, endless struggle. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Baldur’s Gate for characters levels 7-10. This adventure is part of the "Fey Gates of the Sea of Swords" Major Quest. MOON1-5 Lost Love is also part of this same quest, but these two adventures may be played in either order. The quest concludes in BALD2-1 Turning Point.

Come on.  We all know that BALD1-5 is never coming out.  It's a myth, a mystery that's been lost to the world forever.

We aren't currently able to set a release date for either IMPI1-6 or LURU2-1.  Both adventures are still expected to be released, and will be added to the schedule as soon as we are able to forecast a release date.  I left a note at the bottom of the schedule to remind myself that I need to add that information as soon as it's been finalized.

I am now going to be the pain in the butt, but I'm not complaining, just letting you guys know so you can poke whoever updates the database...

CORE 2-1, DALE 2-1, and DRAG 2-1 aren't available for sanctioning for public events. The release date is 2/3.

I know that CORE2-1 and DALE2-1 have already been distributed to the admins, although I have not seen DRAG2-1 as yet.  One of the persistent problems with the release is that the LFR campaign staff does not actually do the posting nor did Chris Tulach; other WotC staff member do that.  So the Global Admins may now announce the dates, have the adventures ready to go, and though no fault of theirs, it still misses perhaps by a week.  Hence the caution, don't assume it will be available on exactly that date.

Chris Tulach took the week after DDXP off (I suspect to visit friends and family back in Wisconsin) and will be back in the office on Monday.

We have a lot of people signing up to come play at the Con.  Anyone know if we will truly get a legal copy from the Admins or someone for the Battle Interactive before our Con so we can prep it?  It would be a huge disappointment if we didn't...

Also, just to compare, and it bothers me as gaming director... Paizo is sending scenarios along with map packs and tiles to be used for their scenario.  They have 2 tables per time slot being filled so far...it's a little scary.

Can I second this request for ADCP2-1?  We are lining up 10 or 11 tables to run April 3rd hopefully, but we need to know if this is going to be sanctionable.  The release date was supposed to be Feb 17th wasn't it?  Thanks in advance!

I'm starting to get antsy too.

I have a pretty firm policy about not offering "special" adventures less than a month after they premiere - I'm not keen on altering my policy to 2 months, or more...

Gang,

I will say, from the communication I've received, that they are trying hard.  The adventures are going through some editing before being available in their final posted format.  This may have come from playtest or actual Con experiences, and if the powers-that-be want to tweak and polish them before releasing them, I prefer that to a rushed release.

Also, like myself, some of these are volunteers.  It may be hard to organize a Con without the adventures in-hand, but at the same time, the release schedule has never been set in stone.

On a strangely different note: Are your cities running D&D Encounters?  I've gotten a steady stream of brand new gamers emailing me from the WotC store-finder, and sadly, I seem to be the only organizer in all of HUGE Houston, Texas, who is offering not only DnDEnc, but also Game Day PHB3 and then a whole Con at the end of the month!

Our fellow RPGA gamers at Rice University's Owlcon, last month, used the "My Realms" of different levels, and wrote a very nice arc which happened in Tymanther, along the same idea of the Battle Interactive.  While that is not the same as an official Con BI, we all have the flexibility to write something like it.

Comicpalooza Houston will be offering several 2-X adventures, the BI, a Con Delve, and the Dark Sun preview.  www.comicpalooza.com

I got an (one!) email from someone ... mentioning a FB post. Which I didn't make. Apparently WotC decided to post the sanctioned games onto FB somehow. They were interested in Encounters ... but wanted to know what edition of D&D we were using.

It was a little random.

Los Angeles - Pasadena and we are running D&D Encounters.  We have some interested players from our gameday folks, and an idea floated by one person who didn't want to drive all that way for a hour long game was... play D&D Encounters, and then a LFR mod afterwards!

Thanks for this update.  I have the utmost respect for the volunteers who have been involved in this.

I will however add my voice to the chorus of those hoping this adventure might be available soon.  It has generated substantial word of mouth since running at DDXP, and I know it will provide a great draw for some of our local events as soon as it can be sanctioned.

We scrapped it for our April 3rd meetup Cry but I am hopeful to see it listed sometime before June.  I am starting to think that this might make a great two year aniversary event for our meetup.  If we can break 500 members by then it would be double cool.

So lesson learned, don't plan to cook an egg before the hen has layed it.

Hey folks. I have some questions perhaps someone can answer about mod releases this year...

1) What is the next mod in the "Blue Fire Goblins" major quest (started in IMPI 2-1)?

2) What is TYMA 2-2's title, level and adventure location (i.e. the standard LFR blurb seen under adventures, if it's been released)? It's release date would be nice, if known/released.

3) What's the dish on WATE 2-2 & 2-3? They're the second and third/final mods for the 'Restoring Splendor' quest. Levels?

4) Aside from the stated Sea of the Fallen Stars, does anyone know what land area CORE 2-2 'Rising of the Dark' is set in/related to? Same question on CORE 2-3.

Thanks!

CORE2-3 takes place entirely in the skies above Faerun aboard skyships. The adventure features a brief stint in either Skaug (Nelanther Isles) or Athkatla (Amn), but not nearly enough to matter for any regional interests. It features an earthmote settlement called Yaulazna (FRCG 254-256).
