Hi, I'm interested in running the adapted modules as sanctioned LFR adventures, and I'm not sure how they work, exactly, as far as experience and level requirements go.

What I'd like to do is this, all for the same group, in this order:

1. Run ADAP1-1, Barrow of the Ogre King.
2. Run ADAP1-5, Menace of the Icy Spire.
3. Run ADAP1-2 through ADAP1-4, all of the Scepter Tower of Spellgard parts.

Would this work? Is there anything that would make this not work? Would the PCs all have to be level 1 at the start, or could they be level 2? Would they level up after some part of this chain and then be ineligible for the rest?

Thanks!

The PC should be level 1 or 2 for ADAP1-1, ADAP1-5, ADAP1-2.

If you do in the order you mention, they should be no problem with a PC at 0 XP in the beginning.

Before ADAP1-1, 0 XP
After ADAP1-1, a little bit before the second level
After ADAP1-5, you should be at level 2 and they will be no problem to begin playing the "Scepter Tower of Spellgard" parts.

Be careful! The players can't play another LFR mod when you play the "Scepter Tower of Spellgard" adventure.

What he means is that once characters start playing Scepter Tower, they can not use that character in any other adventure until they are donr with Scepter Tower. Seeing as you are looking at 30-40 hours of play to complete all three parts of Scepter Tower, some players may not want their LFR characters tied up that long.

Were does it say that? I just finished running it on saturday we played each of the 3 sessions over the course of the ast 2 weeks and we have had 3 clerics over the course of the 3 sessions, I thought that if you play the adventure the only drawback was that you "have to play all 3 sessions" in-order to gain the story awards so i didnt award the story award to any of the 3 clerics that played with us temporarily. are these players gonna be screwed if they move on to a different group (most of them are from out of town wich is why we were having issues finding Clerics to play the whole thing with them.

1) A PC can only play Scepter Tower of Spellgard frmo the beginning. You can only play part 2 if you played in part 1. You can only play in part 3 if you played in part 2.

Gaining Levels during the Adventure
Scepter Tower of Spellgard is a very long adventure. We estimate that it will take most groups about 30-40 hours of total play time to complete the entire adventure. By the end, the PCs will probably reach 4th or even 5th level. Gaining levels during the adventure does not make a PC ineligible to continue playing the adventure. However, characters may not play other adventures in between the parts of this adventure. In other words, once a character embarks upon this adventure, he cannot play any other adventures until he either completes this adventure or abandons the quest. If a particular character does not finish all three parts of this adventure, that’s OK; the character still retains whatever XP and treasure he earned in the parts that he played. However, that character cannot come back later and replay this adventure.

Note: This is Part 2 of the 3-part adaptation; the parts must be played in order, and a character cannot play other adventures in between the parts of this adventure. You cannot begin with this part of the adaptation!

Note: This is Part 3 of the 3-part adaptation; the parts must be played in order, and a character cannot play other adventures in between the parts of this adventure. You cannot begin with this part of the adaptation!

I did not see this when running the module. so basically its ok to start and not complete it (abandoning it as stated above) but not supposed to start at any of the other 2 modules, wich i disagree with because it states in the adapt 1 that the players can always go to the montestary in between chapters to restock and resupply (wich is what i assumed could be a new character jumping on point) we had an issue with the original cleric not able to play the final 2 events and the other players needed a cleric and we got a walk-in Customer of the store to play a cleric on the fly on both of the last 2 modules, I didnt have any problems reporting the modules with different players playing a cleric on each of the chapters.

"Restock and resupply" means, oddly enough, "restock and resupply". It doesn't mean "have a new character jump into the middle". The database is pretty simple, and it doesn't object to much of anything being entered, whether it's legal or not. Just because you were able to report it successfully doesn't make it legal.

well it was a simple mistake but it was either that or not run the event for the rest of the group, with the cleric not showing up to the event for the last 2 parts if we didnt find a "fill-in" player we would have oly had 3 players (meaning not enouph players to continue since rpga requires tables to be 4-6 players) I was in a pinch and figured with the situation being what it was it was the only way to continue the mods. Hopeully the higher-ups understand the situation and dont throw lightning bolts at me from the clouds, I think the most important thing was we all had fun, even tho one player became a little hard to deal with then pulling no-shows, it just didnt seem fair to the players that actually made it to the game as promised (two of wich traveled over an hour) to make them go back home because one player who was being difficult in the first sessions up and quit playing. finding a fill in cleric seemed the best way to solve the issue so everyone could play (as well as got 2 new players for it as well)

Ok, here's my question. The group I was playing with made it through the first part and plan to do the next part this Sunday. One of the players is not able to make it. Can I order and run it for another group and let this person jump in at part two, if he hasn't played anything else between now and then?

Yes. As long as a particular character plays the parts of the adaptation in order and does not play any other adventures in between parts, nothing requires that character to actually go through each part with the same group of other characters.

Of course, for this plan to work, your second group would either need to start out with only 5 PCs (leaving a space for this person to jump in starting with Part 2) or someone else in the second group would have to drop out after Part 1, since otherwise you would end up with a 7-player table, which isn't legal.
