What happens if the party dies on the last encounter in this mod? My party wiped on the last encounter and thus they now have bodies in The Feywilde in a magic plagued area. According to the rules they could get the rezz throught the charity function to get the ritual cast but the ritual requires bodies (or parts of them) no onw escaped. Are the players SoL and have to start over? I cant find any provisions for this any where. Please advise.
(Let me tell you about the flack im getting for killing them too *sigh*)

Thanks

Invoke the Death Charity clause. If the group cannot
afford to pay for the ritual, doesn’t desire to pay for it, or
doesn’t have access to the body
, the PC can choose to
return back to life at the end of the adventure. Doing so
forfeits all rewards (including treasure and story rewards)
earned for the adventure except experience points gained
prior to the character’s death (the character receives the
experience point award for the encounter in which they
died). The PC cannot participate in the same adventure a
second time.

Basically, there's no way to lose your character in LFR, you can always take the death charity clause.

In this case, they'd get full XP for all encounters but the last, half XP for the last, and no gold or items.

Sweet thanks. Missed that on the reading of it.

Also, you should be aware that using the Death Charity clause does not impose the '-1 to attacks, checks, and skill rolls for 3 milestones' penalty that actually being the recipient of a Raise Dead ritual imposes.

Where do you find this stated or implied?

I believe it is implied thusly: since you don't need to recover a body or pay any gold, you aren't being revived by the Raise Dead ritual. Your PC is just alive again, via no specific in-game mechanic.

I don't necessarily buy it myself, and would probably run with the 3 milestone penalty. But I can surely see how it isn't obvious.

I don't believe that there was any intent to waive the penalty from the Raise Dead ritual with the Death Charity clause.

1. The boilerplate in LFR adventures (and the CCG) says: "If a PC dies during the course of the adventure, the player of that character and the rest of the group have two options, provided that they have access to the Raise Dead ritual (either a PC has it and can use it or the characters return to civilization), they have access to the body, and it is possible to return the dead PC to life."

To me, that makes it clear the in-game mechanic is the raise dead ritual, what varies is whether or not you pay the exact cost of the ritual. (I can easily argue that losing all gp/treasure rewards from the adventure is in effect a payment, if not an exact one.)

2. There is no specific wording in the Death Charity clause which provides an exception to the normal penalty from the Raise Dead ritual.

So as a DM, I would ask to see a statement from a Global Admin or Chris Tulach that says the penalty does not apply, or I would not accept that argument. (Specific wording in any particular adventure might make Raise Dead available for free under certain circumstances.) I believe for the access to the dead body issue, that was verified as being waived by a Global Admin for the Death Charity Clause.

If you dislike the lack of precision, consider adding a suggestion for the CCG 2.0 update.
