Easily run H1 mod?

I am looking for a good level 1-4 mod that has a fairly straight forward plot path, limited amounts of skill challenges and maybe a solid NPC or two to sink my teeth into. I am fairly strong on battle encounter rules but, would rather avoid any special environmental effects that would be difficult for newer players at that level. I don't really DM much but, want to return the favor and thought such a mod would play to my strengths and avoid some my typical DMing anxieties.

Any mods come to mind?

AKAN 1-1 is completely linear with no skill challenges, but maybe a bit dull. CORE 1-2 might be good, if you don't mind a skill challenge in the middle of a combat. EAST 1-1 is very straightforward.

AKAN 1-1 and EAST 1-1 were the first ones I thought of too. Of those, I enjoyed EAST 1-1 a little more than AKAN 1-1 as it had a little more to it than just combat. On the flip-side, I'd run AKAN 1-1 in a heartbeat if I needed to run an adventure that could be done fairly quickly. I'm pretty sure the last time I played AKAN 1-1 it was over and done in about 3.5 hours, which I have come to understand is typical for this adventure. EAST 1-1 will probably take 4-5 hours.

The thing I really like about EAST 1-1 for new players is that it's a classic dungeon crawl -- you can map it out and all that good stuff. I think it'd be my first choice.

CORM2-1:

Show

Very straightforward plot path. One real "decision point" which results in "fight monster encounter A or B."

Terrain is all pretty "normal."

Solid NPC - PCs choose one of two "flavorful" knights to quest with.  The knight is with them throughout the adventure. (But does not enter directly into any combats.)

Skill challenge is easy to run - and can be "completed" with only 2 successes, if that is what the players decide to do.

Overall, an excellent entry-mod for LFR - - especially for those who like the "quest-for-the-king" fantasy-style play.

I just ran CORM2-1 as a slot zero for an upcoming convention; I agree, it's a good, fun, pretty straightforward module.

I don't think it's availalbe for private play yet, which may or may not be an issue for the OP.

The OP mentioned a few good NPC's to sink his teeth into, so I'd like to float out AGLA1-1

It's one of my old favorites (along with EAST1-1).  AGLA1-1 is pretty straightfoward, and has two good NPCs in it.  The Skill challenge (or fight) near the beginning is entertaining, and the fights are all straightforward (most of the early adventures  had simple monsters).

LURU1-1 is another good one (like EAST1-1) with one interesting "trap" during one of the fights, but otherwise great.

But overall, EAST1-1 easiest one to run - classic Dungeon Crawl (also the First LFR/4e I ever played).

I like EAST 1-1. Played it twice. It's not RP-intensive but a fairly good crawl.
Most of the adventures mentioned (LURU1-1, AKAN1-1) are mostly dungeoncrawl, though LURU1-1 also has a memorable NPC and is interesting for PCs with a thing for elven/eladrin history.
I personally think DALE1-1 may also work. It is fairly simple. It has a short  skill challenge, a roleplaying 'challenge' at the end,  and a few traps. It introduces a few (recurring) NPCs for the PCs to interact with.

AKAN 1-7 has a straightforward plot, no skill challenges, and only a few relevant NPC's.  The fights are pretty tough though.

I was about to suggest AKAN 1-7. Freeform role playing through a couple interesting scenes (with straight forward objectives) and a series of fights. Almost feels like a but of role play before a Dungeon Delve. Only AKAN 1-1 gets more straight forward than that, imho.

CORM 1-1 Scooby Doo and the Black Knight

You made me laugh!  So true!

CORM 1-7 is pretty quick, straight forward and has a fun skill challenge at the end.  It's what I am running at this weekend's meetup at the new player table.
