| #1morgandaemosJul 23, 2010 0:17:32 | Hey Everyone, What is the status of Waterdeep 2-1? My group was hoping to play it before GENCON, I don't see it on the list of missing mods, but our DM said it was not available for download. Thanks! |
| #2Madfox11Jul 23, 2010 2:16:05 | Probably only available for public events. I am not sure when it switches it to private play. |
| #3Keith53Jul 23, 2010 6:03:49 | As it was posted in February for public play (and was at DDXP), yes, it should be available for private play as well (as of May). Unfortunately, the switch from public play to all has not been working well, and the campaign staff has zero control over that. Tell your DM to contact either the Waterdeep event manager (Rick Brown) or myself, and we can send you a copy. Keith Hoffman |

| #7logopolisAug 06, 2010 6:45:12 | Unfortunately, the switch from public play to all has not been working well, and the campaign staff has zero control over that. How can campaign staff have zero control over this? Isn't the 3-month delay a policy defined by campaign staff? I still don't understand what the problem is. Madfox11 has previously stated that modules are not legal for RPGA private play if they are not available for download through the private play interface -- even if the 3-month public play period has expired, and even if you get the mod in some other way. This is a very frustrating situation for players like me, who live in areas where public RPGA events are infrequent. I can accept that campaign staff wants to encourage players to play in public locations. But it becomes a problem with the lack of a release schedule and the apparent inability to actually apply this 3-month delay. If the campaign staff wants to maintain a limited availability policy, then please actually follow the policy -- it isn't really fair to make home players wait an indefinite period instead of the previously announced 3 months. But if the current policy isn't working, then campaign staff have the power to change it. |
| #8Keith53Aug 08, 2010 12:56:20 | Perhaps the confusion stems from the distinction between WotC and the LFR campaign staff, which are two different organizations, although in theory with a shared purpose. WotC D&D Organized Play has generally set policy and to date run the adventure download library (traditionally known as the RPGA). We (LFR admins) believe that in the near future, with the changes to LFR, i.e., WotC dropping virtually all staff support other than paying the 3 Global Admins to run the campaign, the campaign staff (the Global Admins) will be posting the adventures somewhere on the LFR community site for DMs to access. Until that happens, we have no control over the downloads and we will never have control over what happens within WotC. I don't think it is either fair or intended by anyone to make gamers wait more than the prescribed 3 months for private play (as compared to public play release). If the policy changes, I expect it will be announced. The only "rule" (guideline) I am aware of is that once we pass the planned release date, if the admins have the final PDF version of the adventure, AND it is not otherwise available for download, we may share it. If it is available for download, the gamers should follow the process. Keith |
