If you haven't played SPEC1-3 (H3) Ghosts of the Past: Siren's Lure, then you should stop here.  It's a very fun scenario by the way, and I highly recommend playing it.

If you have played SPEC1-3 (H3), and are interested in the lore and background of the "something special", then please continue reading.

Note: this is role-playing information.  No mechanics.

Overview:

Show
'''Faervian''' is a Baneblade of Demron, the fourth sword in that series of weapons, and is in the shape of a longsword. It was originally created for the Spell-Major of Cormanthyr as a replacement for the lost Ary'Faern'Kerym elfblade (the Artblade).  It is known to humans as "Battlebane", and more colloquially as the ''Sword of Art'' or the ''Mage's Blade''.

Pieter and I have discussed the idea putting Faervian into a future arc. Hopefully we can make it work.

Cheers,

Thanks.  I gotta say I was pretty impressed by the amount of lore for it that was already present in the scenario.  Joe (and editors?) did a great job and they clearly know their stuff!

I hope that occurs!  I have to say that you chose probably my favorite blade as well.  There's nothing quite like this anymore, and it really brings back a lot of excitement and involvement.  My own PC is going to change (both roleplaying-wise and mechanic-wise) as a result of this.  That's the kind of stuff that really ropes you in and makes it memorable.  I can't wait to see what will happen.

At the time pdfs were still for sale, so I bought a couple of 2nd edition material about Myth Drannor, including the Netheril book, and looked through it for fun tidbits to add to the adventures for the players with a love for FR Realms. I also made sure the material was distrubuted to the authors. So it is good to see at least some people appreciated it ;)

Note that for obvious reasons we kept the powers for the blade simple and within 4E rules. I really hope we can pull of a series about the blade, but no promises. There are so many cool story lines to tell, and so many things to do.

Very appreciated, and I'm hoping to see more!

Btw, several of those 2nd Edition resources are available for free from WotC:

Btw, I have some images of what Faervian might look like:

This is a photoshop'ed version of Hadhafang, Arwen's sword from Lord of the Rings, available for sale at various stores (taken from promotional pic in several online stores).

I would also like to see some more mods involvling Faervian. Preferrably when I'm still wielding it rather than in the backpack because i picked up a +4 weapon or two in other mods.

(and to think I nearly transferred the enchantment from a sword to a scimitar when I first acquired
Faervian)

Hmm. Thanks for the images - maybe I should update my character pic now.

Friend of mine did a lot of the base work, then I've been altering and updating it from there - like adding the purple flames and such when I got Faervian.

It fits for the particular character pretty well.
