Yep, I saw it in the database a few moments ago. The MYRE12 packet has cool duergar art. Nice touch.

I'd appreciate it if Wizards of the Coast made announcements about the campaign from a more official venue - like these message boards, for example. While I am sure Twitter and its clones like Facebook and Digg-worthy are fun and all, I think something this important is best shared here or on the WotC Web site. Save people who have neither the time nor the inclination to go Internet-socializing a few precious seconds on Web sites they'd rather not patronize.

My choices with content like this are as follows:

1. Wait to post the file until I can get an "official" announcement up on the web that basically just says "My Realms Levels 4-7 Now Available."

2. Post it without telling anyone, letting the community figure it out.

3. Post it and let the community disperse the news through social networking.

I prefer doing the third thing for small announcements (such as this). For example, you could've found out about this from the database, my Twitter account, or visiting these forums. And all in the span of 24 hours from the time I posted it. You don't have to follow/use any "new" online social networking tools to get this information.

Big announcements (new programs, major changes, new global documents) will always be handled via the website as well.

You know...Chris said that this is a small announcment..do you really think that he needs to bother the guy who is in charge of the updating of the LFR website to post a small message about *ONE* module being available? Last I looked at all the stuff that they are working on the thing that stuck out the most was "and how are they going to find the time for all this?"...
BTW...Chris is a cool guy..met him at D*Con a few years ago for the Tsojcanth Cors...he is one of the few that tries to keep people informed about things and approachs things from a fairly logical and well researched method...like small amount of effort to dissiminate the info about something on the largest scale for that small effort...

Seriously it doesn't need an anouncement on the RPGA part of the DnD site, but an anouncement here in the LFR forums would seem far more appropriate than via Twitter.

Well, to be fair a Twitter announcement is functionally the same thing as putting it here, since the time elapsed between the tweet and someone reposting here about it can only be measured in nanoseconds...

Aye. There are plenty of people following Chris on twitter - 157 at the moment of this post. So you are not likely to miss an announcement, and it saves Chris time.

Like it or not social networking sites via the internet are a big part of modern up-to-the-minute communication. If you're a stubborn anti conformist (like myself) you can either jump on the bandwagon or suck it up and accept that you will always be a little behind the more technologically inclined.

On topic:

MYREs are awesome!

When can we hope to see the 7-10 version?!

Thanks. I really wanted to give DMs an outlet for their creativity while helping to personalize the campaign for the players.

The levels 7-10 My Realms should be out sometime in September, most likely. The levels 11-14 one should be available around November.

Yeah, I just ran my first MYRE1-1 this weekend. It went over really well, and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to doing more, now-and-then.

Hey Chris...here is another "up-side" to the MYRE that I use with my players is..if I have a shorter time slot or my group is scattered I can throw in a MYRE in to provide them a game that may not meet the total maximum of XP/Gold but fills the time with a character building event instead of playing something that can't be counted to their character. At the FREERPG day I was able to run 3 events at the local store for some people using the MYRE as essentially a 3 part series springboarding off the loudwater adventures form the book.

That's a great use of My Realms adventures. You have the flexibility to run shorter or longer games as you see fit, so long as the PCs don't exceed the limits on XP and treasure.

I love the expansive nature of this LFR play opportunity.

Are there any guidelines about how much gold you can give out if you lower the xp the party can gain? For example we often have time left at each session to do one or two extra encounters. If I prepared a MYRE adventure with for instance 1 combat encounter and 1 skill challenge totalling half the maximum XP, can I give only half the maximum gold as well ?

It only contains a maximum amount of xp and gold...so if your group would be ok with doing a 1/2 adventure for 1/2 xp then you are following the rules. Remember, you are given a total XP budget to divide out over the encounters...so build you an encounter and figure up what the xp reward is..as long as all xp awarded is below the max you are fine to give what ever that xp reward is

Not too long ago I ran an extremely hard encounter that after I ran all the numbers it was about 200 xp over the 1-1 high limit (was the last encounter)..so they got two myre adventures with the full and a 200xp on the other...but they only got one gold amount from the first..they were cool with it for the fun battle experience
