| #1Mind_Flayer_MonkFeb 04, 2010 6:14:22 | I had an idea for themed my realms adventures I thought might be good. Basic Idea: Encourage the purchase and use of D&D Supplements (such as Manual of the Planes, The Plane Below, Draconomicon, The Underdark) in the LFR campaign. My Realms created in this way would grant access to additional item bundles for PCs. Sample Text: DARK-MYRE (H1) You may create a MyRealms adventure using the standard rules for MYRE set mostly or entirely in the Underdark, as detailed in UNDERDARK. In addition to the normal rewards you may grant PCs the following additional bundle options. The number of bundles taken can not exceed one. Your adventure may include up to two of the following as reward bundles: Drow Necklace +1 (AV) Wand of Dark Darkness +1 (PHB) Troglodyte Gloves (AV2) (insert 7 or 8 more options). Ritual Scroll of Dungeon Spelunking etc. At H2, your adventure may include: Myconid Hat +2 (Dragon 381) Xornskin Armor +2 (AV2) Grell Goggles (AV) etc. This adventure will expire on July 20, 2010. I of course just made up some items here, but the additional item rewards would be themed on the appropriate supplement. The adventures would have a limited play window, encouraging the purchase of the next supplement as it is released. For example, the limited play window on Underdark would encourage purchase during close to its release period. When the Demononicon is released, Underdark adventures would be expiring. This would encourage purchase of the Demonimicon near its release date to use for themed my realms. |

| #3AlphastreamFeb 08, 2010 13:24:07 | Agreed! That is a great idea. |
| #4newpaintbrushFeb 26, 2010 11:22:54 | Bump because I also think this is a good idea. |
| #5UthracFeb 26, 2010 14:43:45 | I'll chime in on the other side - I think this could be a pandora's box. (1) Look at the Rust Monster thread for people who abuse MYRE. If there's "special MYRE-only" items, you can bet that there's a section of the community who will all be running around with these shiny toys. (2) On the flip side, I'm all for offering these items in standard LFR adventures. (I believe I saw an Elementalbane weapon recently . . . .) Spicing up treasure bundles from non-player access sources is a good idea - - - putting them in MYRE? - not-so-much. |
| #6elder_basiliskFeb 26, 2010 14:58:02 | I'll chime in on the other side - I think this could be a pandora's box. Provided that the MYRE adventure is awarding shiny toys that are appropriate to the tier, I don't see any reason that players should get shiny toys in a standard adventure but not in a MYRE. Either way, players end up with the shiny toys and you won't be able to tell the difference if you sit down with them at the next adventure. Rust monsters are different, first because they are not currently available in any standard adventures and second because they provided a mechanism for players to do something that is not possible with standard adventures: turn their high level bundles into any item they want with 100% efficiency. If this proposal would open Pandora's box, it's worth remembering that it was only a bad thing the first time. After all the troubles of the world escaped the box, hope remained trapped inside it until it was opened a second time. |
| #7CrodocileFeb 26, 2010 15:23:36 | I think it's a cool idea too. As long as there are specific items that become available, people can't get anything too cheesy. And if there are special items that you can't get elsewhere, it encourages people to put in the work to make up a myrealms. |
| #8imaginaryfriend.invMar 01, 2010 13:58:04 | I think that predefining the treasure options provides plenty safeguard against the rust monster ATM scenarios (and you wont stop people wanting to cheat this way anyway) I like the idea a lot, excellent way to give people a chance to use the new material in their still fresh smelling sourcebooks. |
| #9vincienteMar 02, 2010 1:51:16 | I think the idea is pretty solid & deserves consideration as well. |
| #10Hibiki54Mar 02, 2010 13:06:06 | Rust Monsters are awesome. They make my stuff go away and then I make it better.![]() |
| #11ThanlisMar 02, 2010 13:11:30 | Rust Monsters are awesome. They make my stuff go away and then I make it better. I noticed there's no P2 MYRE on the schedule. Play nice or go home, I guess. |

| #13Hibiki54Mar 03, 2010 11:40:36 | Of course! Every character with a Salve of Power(s) suddenly has 10k to spend. |
| #14ibixatMar 03, 2010 21:07:12 | Of course! Every character with a Salve of Power(s) suddenly has 10k to spend. well 5k per salve =P I think my rogue is breaking 50k after I get my money back on mine, not that I ever used it much anyway. |

Nooooo~! Keep them so you can Stunning Strike with them. |
| #16Hibiki54Mar 04, 2010 2:27:13 | None of my characters have an encounter stun.... yet. |
| #17ibixatMar 04, 2010 3:07:21 |
Hmm I actually don't have stunning strike =P I should probably change to that though and buy a pair of battlemaster handcrossbows and save my precious surges =P I usually save my daily item powers for my Gouda Dice, war ring and chameleon ring, I probably could swap to stunning strike and actually buy that battlemaster hand crossbow to replace my old +2... Hmmm this sounds like a good idea to me so far =) |
| #18AlphastreamMar 05, 2010 0:28:32 | I've found this sick combo with my bard to maximize his BPR. I use a ton of free actions to pull it off, which is really hard to do (I've never had a DM have a problem with them). The best part is that it is totally errata-proof! Ha! Take that, WotC, you suckers! Warning, the last move is totally cheesy. spoiler 1, breakdown: Free action: take a sip Free action: insult closest foe Free action: take a sip Free action: insult a random foe, so as to throw them off Free action: take a sip Free action: tell a joke Free action: take a sip Free action: insult a party member Free action: take a sip Free action: tell a party member you love them Free action: take a sip Free action: show a party member how much you love them with hand gestures Free action: take a sip Free action: eat a piece of cheese (some DMs require a minor action for this) |
