| #1sithobi1May 12, 2009 0:59:13 | Is there a list anywhere of the XP/Gold rewards of playing 11-14, 14-17, etc. mods? I thought I saw such a list, but now I am unable to find it. |
| #2gomeztooMay 12, 2009 2:18:48 | It will be in the 1.6 version of the Writers' Guidelines. That version is not yet available for download. |
| #3ibixatMay 12, 2009 2:44:42 | Are those guidelines available for the public or only if you are "hired" as a writer? |
| #4gomeztooMay 12, 2009 3:15:29 | The guidelines are public (see http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/lfrx/writers ), they just haven't been updated. I expect they will be, but I don't know when. Gomez |

Before I saw the guidelines I was thinking the math could be based off of either of two levels, and it was the higher one of the two. (I think that will be good, giving more of a challenge as players arrive at the tier). |
| #6CailteMay 18, 2009 9:26:03 | Hmm I did some number crunching on the weekend on my own and came away with numbers that suggest that each tier will have to be distinct in its arrangement due to the sheer difference in how things are valued at each tier. In essence at Heroic GP matter, at Paragon PP matter, at Epic only AD matter. I hope this is reflected in the official values. XP is much easier to work out, unless they change it for some reason it should look like: Each character gets the XP for a Complexity 3 Skill Challenge at "Level" My guesses are: Level 11-14 Low 2100xp + 140xp Quest and 1500gp base Level 11-14 High 3000xp + 200xp Quest and 2000gp base. It will be interesting to see how well my guesses match the official values when 1.6 is released. |

However, for your own estimation purposes, you aren't too far off. |
| #8AlphastreamMay 19, 2009 19:34:23 | You can do the math on the previous public numbers. You basically use the DMG chart for an encounter with 5 PCs, then assume 3 encounters. The trick is knowing what level the RPGA will use for a particular tier level (1-4 low, 1-4 high, etc.). But, you can estimate it and have a degree of confidence as to what it will be. I published some numbers somewhere on these boards a while back on how this can be calculated. |
| #9CailteMay 20, 2009 8:33:21 | Well unless they change at Paragon the XP award per character other than quests is for 3 Monsters of level. The trick is figuring out the level (I assumed the same pattern for 11-20, and again for 21-30) due to the dramatic difference in the way funds work, you really don't want level 10 characters playing anything set for Paragon. The hard part is figuring out the gold. |
| #10AlphastreamMay 20, 2009 13:34:32 | The hard part is figuring out the gold. I haven't looked at the math for this. Are current gold levels linked to something in the DMG? I'm guessing they must be... |
| #11jamesmaissenMay 20, 2009 16:37:50 | The hard part is figuring out the gold. Well if we are assuming that they are using the same molds as with the 1-10s wouldn't everything just be increased by a factor of 25? Mind you the gold/xp ratios are bad for the 1-10 mods, but that's another story. -James |
| #12CailteMay 21, 2009 8:44:53 | The gold levels need to go up significantly between each tier of play. So no it doesn't just follow the math of Heroic Tier. It needs to be about 1000gp every module tier in Paragon, and I suspect on further examination it should be 1500gp base for low 11-14 and 2500gp base for high. I guess we will all know soon enough. |

I'm sorry, are you saying that it shouldn't be around 25x heroic? I'm assuming that they are going with nearly the same ratio of modules/leveling for xp purposes, so I would think that it would be around there in terms of gold... Which would be (roughly) 1875gp/2500gp for 11-14 plus 1250/1875gp with 'extra' gold option. This (somewhat) matches your conclusions so I'm not following what you are saying here... Now mind you given what they've done in terms of rewards I figure the numbers will be made smoother even at the expense of ratios. So depending upon their choice of xp rewards for those tiers the amounts will likely vary. -James PS: Personally I think rewards should be based upon the given PC level rather than mod tier, but that's me. |
