Hi.

I was wondering if it came out any information on the Tymoran Scriptures (Core 1-1) "hook/reward" yet!?

My players and myself (DM) loved the adventure , and would like to persue it. For myself , i would love to give my players what they want , but as we are in a Campaign also ( the adventures of LFR i use as "minor quests") i need to find a way of fitting into it.

My doubt is , are there a sequence to this , or at least, will there be!? Because if there isn´t i´ll make one myself , i just don´t want to go doing it, and then in a month or so , comes a new official adventure with it , LOL.

At the moment there are no LFR adventures using that story award. I have some ideas, but some others took priority (there are only so many adventures). You can certainly use the scriptures in an adventure as a hook or to grants a bonus in Tymora related skill check as long as you do not remove the story award. The scriptures contain a large set of loose papers. It might very well contain several pieces of secrets, one leading to your adventure and another to mine. If you are worried, send me a PM and I will check whether or not your proposed use clashes with my ideas. Similarly, if somebody has a cool idea with the award who wants to write a LFR (core) adventure I am open to suggestions as long as it is remembered that not everybody is going to have the scriptures (I suspect most people have the coin).

My rogue found out about Tymora’s coin after she became too powerful to be considered for the job, but she wants that coin!  She tried relieving it off of someone’s pocket once.  It didn’t work out so well, though she will try again!  After all, if she succeeds, that means Tymora smiled upon her, and wants her to have it.  Right!?

Is it legal to for minor favor things such as the coin to change hands?  Since they’re not technically a “magical item” treasure nor have gold and exp value… Laughing

One of my PC's wanted to copy the Scriptures. Can he has both Awards (Scriptures/coin) in this way? I ruled no - telling him he hasn't had enough time to copy the Scriptures before reaching Suzail. But... Would it be possible?

Yes it is possible to copy them theoretically... you need a lot of Residium though...

Coin: The coin is a personal gift from the temple of Tymora to an individual to show their favor (unlike the scriptures it has seen use at the very least in DALE). You do not give it away. In fact, if you do so, it looses its magic.

Copieing the scriptures: While you could copy the obvious visible text, the scriptures contain several hidden secret texts which require specialized knowledge to make visible. I should have written that clearly in the adventure to show people why it is a choice between the coin and the scriptures. There simply was no time for the PCs to carefully investigate the papers and copy them in the relative short trip from Sembia to Cormyr.

I'm pretty sure that Amanuesis doesn't really care about how it got there, it just copies all the text. It also only takes 10 minutes to cast and it takes a while to get from Sembia back to Cormyr when looked at in 10 minute windows.

The problem is it costs 10gp to cast... so making a copy of the scriptures that way is probably impossible just due to cost, of course the total number of pages isn't specified so I guess it is a DM call.

Reading the Amanuensis description in the Rules Compendium it does not say anything about copying mundanely hidden text (invisible ink) or magically hidden texts (e.g. Secret Page). I am inclined it does not do so since in my mind that should be specifically mentioned, but I can see how others think differently.

Also note that it is 10 gp per 250 words or page. It is going to cost considerably more then 10 gp to copy the scriptures, but since I never mentioned the number of pages (and to be honest, I haven't the fainted idea either) that would be guess work. Still, if it is proper book size, assuming something like 100 pages are really not that far off, meaning it costs a bare minumum of 1000 gp. Are there really level 1 to 4 PCs willing to spend that much gold on a random text that may or may not have any impact on later adventures?

And yes, I honestly forget the Amanuensis ritual when I wrote CORE1-1 (although I can always make the excuse that at that time we did not even had the FRCG) otherwise I probably would have included a page count and mentioned something about copying the text ;)

*points at his last post and mention of "impossible just due to cost"*

Yes as a DM if someone wanted to copy stuff I would let them, but I'd be going for that 100 page mark, it is a pretty standard size for DnD books. Which would shut down that line of reasoning.

You are assuming the scriptureS are a book. I tried to impress the fact that it is a stack of paper amongst an even bigger stack of mostly worthless papers. Still, it is not worth argueing. Just remember that the adventure tells that a PC has to choose between the two (even though I did forgot to make it clear on why they cannot just copy it), and not most DMs will stick to that choice.

Side-note: I did receive your PM, but I am having trouble answering them at the moment due to issues with the community site. I will try to see whether it works sometime later this week at a different computer with a different browser Undecided

Strange but true, I had this exact thing come up at the end of running this mod at GenCon Oz (and it was an awesome session due to the couple playing the Changeling siblings, I'd have loved to just sat there RPing with them for 4 hours, alas the rest of the table was more Monty Haul focused).

"There are at least a hundred pages, so it will cost at least 1000gp to copy it if you have the relevant ritual."

Brought that direction of thinking to an end.

Re side note: PM what PM?
