Suppose I wanted to run a MOD from 2008 now, but with updated information, do I just replace the monsters with newer versions? Or is there a way to go about converting or updating monsters to meet the MM3 standards? |

Alternatively, just always run high tier, and make sure that everyone always plays up. Some people might feel "cheated" out of high tier treasure if you update monsters to be more dangerous at low tier and then only give them the low tier for treasure. If you're running LFR adventures for your home group, Dodecahedron's suggestions seem reasonable to me (though I'd strongly suggest you have a conversation with your players about the changes, so they know what to expect). If you're running LFR adventures at public venues (i.e., you don't know who's going to show up at your table), I'm not sure that I'd suggest making any changes -- you might suggest, "here is what I'd like to do to give you, the players, a good challenge", but be prepared to *not* do that if your players aren't happy with the suggestion. In any case, while, certainly, many players feel that the early LFR modules are not terribly challenging, that's likely not a universally-held belief (nor is the desire for a greater challenge). In short, know your players, and what they want out of the game. |
