So, I managed to get my Cunning Bard up to 4th level. And now, the big questions is - what feat should I take?

I am leaning towards Novice Power to swap out Dissonant Strain for Pipes of Winters as a 3rd-level encounter power. I figure a little control ability fits both crunch and fluff-wise.

My other feats are:

1: Pact Initiate (Fey)
2: Focused Expertise (Longsword)

The other possibility that I had in mind was picking up a familiar (likely a Parrot) or MCing into Artificier.

Any thoughts?

Aren't Dissonant and Pipes both Bard powers? If they are, you don't need to use Novice Power to swap them, that's only for takign powers from another class. You can just retrain it.

As for the feat choice, what are you trying to do with the character? What's it's concept? I would probably recommend Focused Expertise before anythign else just to shore up your attack bonus, but anything else to suggest really is dependant upon your concept.

Arcane Implement Proficient (heavy blade) so that you can use the odd Implement power without having to buy a wand.

I've will be retraining Bardic Knowledge (picked up at 2nd) into Focused Expertise. I picked up a Hars Songblade +1, so that'll dovetail pretty nicely.

The Pipes of Winter is a Bard Encounter power. It immobilizes an enemy and slows any allies adjacent to it.

My goal is to remain effective but add a little flavor to the character. Swapping out a Bard power for a (Fey Pact) Warlock power does that.

A familiar could do the same thing and provide a stat boost. A Bard with a parrot would be a fun touch.

MC-into Artificier would give me a extra heal per day and opens up some possibilities should I find a power on that end that I'd be willing to swap out.

Does this help?

I like Improved Majestic Word to improve your healing. You will want some type of Implement Expertise / Focus type of feat.

The Bravo feat from Dungeon can be worth considering. It is a nice way to help your important (especially AoE) powers connect.
