I have a few paragon tier characters who would love to be able to spend healing surges to do something other than healing themselves. One character is a Dwarven Dreadnought Fighter. She's a tank with way more healing surges than she actually needs in an adventure and a tattoo that gets better the more healing surges she uses. I'm looking for ways she can use her healing surges to help others (and/or other cool things). Another character is a Human CON-based Star Pact Warlock (paragon path undecided) with an over-abundance of healing surges and hit points that are essentially useless to her right now. She's a ranged striker, so she rarely gets seriously injured. I'm interested in any way she can use her hit points and healing surges for something other than staying alive (since she has NO trouble doing that). I also have an Elven Miracle Worker/Cleric of Ilmater who is interested in making "sacrifices" (in whatever form that takes) to help others for role playing/religious reasons. Unfortunately she doesn't have all that much in the way of hit points or surges, but as a leader and worshipper of Ilmater she's always willing to sacrifice herself for others. I'm already enjoying the cleric utility power Stream of Life and the feat Saving Grace. I'm familiar with some of the options, but what kinds of items/feats/powers allow you to use healing surges/hit points for something else? Thanks! |

They are level 24, though. Healer's Sash lets you spend a healing surge to heal someone else. Some potions require you to spend a healing surge. Potion of Clarity is a good one. Some items such as Bracers of Rejuvenation have Healing Surge powers. How they work is they start with one charge. To recharge them you have to spend a healing surge as a standard action and then you can use their power again. Long Battle Tattoo gives you a damage bonus on daily powers equal to the number of surges you have spent. Dragon 382 had some warlock daily powers that let you take damage to recover them when you miss. Warlocks have the Sacrifice to Caiphon feat to do this for encounter powers. |

You might also want to look at powers like Healer's Balm (Cleric 10, DP) and Ode to Sacrifice (Bard 6, PH2) that let you transfer harmful effects from an ally to yourself. |

There are a large number of items that let YOU spend a surge but grant SOMEONE ELSE the benefit. Sometimes that benefit is their surge value in hp healed; sometimes it's something else. Browse through the Adventurer's Vault and I'm sure you'll find plenty. |

I'm asking because the feats Saving Grace and Courageous Example let you give an ally a save when you succeed on a saving throw (but you have to keep whatever negative condition it is). So my cleric would like to have items/powers/feats that penalize her with some not-so-bad save ends effect for Random Benefit X. (It's a laser cleric, so movement related stuff would be great. I don't really care if I'm slowed.) I already have the utility power Saving Grace that gives me ongoing damage. |
