| #1Dragon9Sep 23, 2009 16:40:22 | Ok, so, a show of hands. How many of you are going to be playing an assassin in October? *raises hand* Hatch 9/18/18/10/13/10 Inescapable Blade, Leaping Shade, Gloom Thief, Targeted for Death Not sure yet, but I'm thinking of maybe MCing with Rogue. |
| #2ferol_debtor_of_tormSep 23, 2009 16:41:44 | I will definitely not be playing one. After Avenger every other striker seems underwhelming. |
| #3Mind_Flayer_MonkSep 23, 2009 16:44:01 | Someone needs to find the guy that wrote the avenger and assasin and pay him double to work on the halfling articles and the upcoming tiefling book. |
| #4sdrowsfognikSep 23, 2009 18:17:43 | I'm not too terribly excited about another Striker to be honest. I mean that's what now - 8.5 out of 21? |
| #5arlifeSep 23, 2009 20:18:59 | Yea, I want to like the assassin, but anything that isnt the avenger just seems meh. For instance, the monk is interesting, flavorful, and has solid features. But it doesnt get free ac that stacks with leather or get to roll twice in addition to a damage bonus class feature. The assassin is balanced as a striker, but thats the problem, its only balanced, its not overpowered like the avenger. Havent you heard the news? Avenger is the new striker/defender/controller/leader. |
| #6JRedGiant1Sep 24, 2009 13:05:45 | Assassin? Why would I want to play an assassin? It's not even a leader. |
| #7CrodocileSep 25, 2009 2:28:28 | Yes, definitely. I can't decide on a race though. Right now I'm leaning toward gnome. Or a revenant that was a gnome. |
| #8ibixatSep 25, 2009 3:50:26 | Kenku assassin, the way to go =P |
| #9pint_glass_crusaderSep 25, 2009 7:27:33 | I had already planned to make my next character a striker as I don't have any yet. The Assassin has really piqued my interest... but my Half-Orc Thaneborn is painted and ready to rock!!! Decisions... decisions... |
| #10kal_agrimSep 25, 2009 18:35:58 | I'm probably going to play one in the near future. It will be a Revenant|Goliath so I can take Goliath Greatweapon Prowess and bring the pain. |
| #11matblack76Sep 25, 2009 21:51:50 | i will be adding an assassin to my ever-growing stable of LFR characters that i never get to play... i think i have close to 30 characters created, but i've only ever had the chance to play four of them... i am trying to decide between changeling and drow... this character would be for the mini campaign, and would be from the windrise ports, eventually mcing into rogue and something else (possibly ranger possibly a style)... i had originally envisioned this character as a drow assassin for hire and had built him using the rogue class, but the assassin class really fits the idea i had already come up with... the idea of a changeling assassin, on the other hand, fits very well, too... decisions... |
| #12matblack76Sep 25, 2009 21:53:50 |
this would be a concept i'd love to do as well, but until i get my hands on one of the rewards cards, it's a non-starter... |
| #13SamrinSep 25, 2009 23:14:39 | I'll play one once they finish the class |
| #14Dragon9Sep 26, 2009 0:01:13 |
Horrible racial support? You mean # of feats or quality of feats? There's 14 races supported via feats. |
| #15CrodocileSep 26, 2009 0:12:05 |
I was thinking about this one too. I love the idea of an 8 foot tall behemoth sneaking around. Frankenstein ninja! Plus the goliath assassin feat is very cool. |
| #16AlphastreamSep 26, 2009 2:48:38 | I've already voiced my deep and undying love for a kenku assassin, which is broken on thematic grounds alone. It's like pirate ninja, but makes sense. Personally, I have all of two strikers, and one is a warlock... so I really only have one striker. (The warlock would cry if it saw the damage the lower level rogue does!) So, this seems like a fun striker to try out. I am currently deep in leader-land, with a leader of each type except cleric. I need to make a defender, since I have yet to play one. |
| #17ibixatSep 26, 2009 8:08:50 | Never forget as a kenku assassin you ARE the terror that flaps in the night, or something like that. |
| #18kal_agrimSep 26, 2009 14:21:30 |
Slightly off-topic here, but I recommend Warden or Fighter, they are both interesting and effective classes to play that a pretty easy to learn to play well. |
| #19SamrinSep 26, 2009 14:44:51 |
I consider them leaving out Drow horrible support. Given the night stalker class feature. Leaving out Shadar Kai also...
Overall I like the class, I just hate the way it was presented. It's incomplete. |
| #20CailteSep 27, 2009 8:22:35 | I'm so going there... |
| #21anubis_reynardSep 29, 2009 13:35:48 | Please sir, I am no assassin. I am merely a consolar on a diplomatic mission from Dupar to Waterdeep. To provide proof of my intentions, I come before you completely unarmed- Surely you don't think I could be of any danger to you? |
| #22Dragon9Sep 29, 2009 19:57:12 | No, you're a spy for the rebel alliance! |
| #23kinevonSep 29, 2009 21:23:22 | No, you're a spy for the rebel alliance! No, sir, I am not. I am just a simple gambler. (5th level Scoundrel, Gambler talent x3, Wis 19...) Anyone for a game of Sabacc? |
