| #1drgnscorpionJan 12, 2010 1:13:57 | Some quick questions for character design so I can bring a very interesting character to the table at Conquest NW 1. Are Shadar-kai available to use as they are in Dragon Magazine Annual 2009? I know there is a creation card for them so i'm wondering if you have to have that card for it. 2. The Assassin class from Dragon Magazine #379 is that an available class to use? 3. Which background would Warforged or Shadar-kai choose that fits them? So far the ideas for characters are this - Warforged Artificer from the Nelanthar Isles: Lost child of Lantan who has awoken and is exploringi the world. Shadar-Kai Assassin of Kelemvor from Netheril: Escaping the Netherese, has decided to take vengence against the church of Shar itself and show them that Death comes to all. Shadar-Kai Avenger from Luskan: a Refugee from Netheril who has sworn to free more of his people from Netherese influence. these are the ideas i'm thinking of. I'll bring one of these to Conquest or two of them to try out different things. Hope for feedback. |

Use the Dragon Magazine version. 2. The Assassin class from Dragon Magazine #379 is that an available class to use? Yes. I've seen plenty of assassins running around. 3. Which background would Warforged or Shadar-kai choose that fits them? Whatever you want. Use your imagination to come up with a cool story. So far the ideas for characters are this - RP-wise, you could do just fine with any of these. Mechanically speaking, the Shadar-Kai assassin is probably the best fit between racial stats and class. |

| #5drgnscorpionJan 14, 2010 13:31:09 | well, looks like my Warforged Artificer/Cleric of Gond shall have to wait until the next convention or RPGA game I can find. So the assassin wins out for awhile now. Thanks everybody. |

| #7crabcroutonJan 15, 2010 1:22:11 | Yes. If you have a 13 Wisdom score and are trained in Religion, you can take a Divine Channeler feat of any one of the 4 divine classes. In practice, you are multiclassing into that class, but sadly the channel divinity you gain can only be used once per day, instead of per encounter. |

| #9kinevonJan 18, 2010 2:49:55 | a couple more questions that came up...is there an Artificer Hybrid yet? Note that this is not quite accurate. Hybrids will be released on January 19th as Player's Handbook 3 Debut Content in Character Builder, the Compendium, and the explanatory article will be available, as a Dragon insert, all at the same time. As Debut Content, hybrids will be legal for LFR play as of January 19th, as well. |
| #10drgnscorpionJan 18, 2010 3:13:05 | Well, got both the Artificer and the Assassin tried out. For the Assassin...HOLY CRAP, he is scary when the dice dont suck. Entire party is either 2 or 3, i'm the only level 1....and I was being the creepy guy of the group in lots of things. The Artificer is a great secondary healer and the rp was excellent with him. Especially explaining my unique nature to people. Yep, I love these two characters. |
